A friend recommended this book to me several years ago and now I feel bad it took me so long to read it. It's an alternate history of Lady Jane Grey, who was Queen of England for 8 days. But in this England, there are some people who can turn into animals. Jane is a booklover, so of course I loved her. Her best friend Edward is King at the start of the book, and he decrees she marries his councilor's son, who is a horse during the day and human at night. There is adventure, romance and a LOT of funny lines. I really loved it.

Yes, that works Suzanne :)

Books should be at least 200 pages long per Bingo rules. These are below that number. (Though I have to admit that especially for Ice Planet Barbarians, I would have loved to see the review haha.)
Sorry!

Actually Book 2 is over 200 pages so my new pick will be Barbarian Alien :-D

I really enjoyed this book. It has been awhile since I read the first 3 books, so I was a little lost trying to remember all the characters. I liked how everything came together and how all the stories wove together. I listened to the audio of this book and it was great. Even though this was a big book, I never lost interest in the story. I definitely recommend this series to those who haven't read it.

Lucky! :-)
Glad to hear you liked it. Some of the reviews were a bit.. odd.. hehe.

How I loved jumping back into this world! Julie is just as mouthy and snarky as Kate, which makes her a fun protagonist (for me). There are once again shapeshifters, action, crazy plots, and so many of the old acquaintances make an appearance, it's like a reunion with old friends. Even Hugh pops up, and that made me stupidly happy. And then there's Derek. Derek always made me smile with his attitude. I cannot wait for the next book!

I enjoyed this book. I listened to the audio version and really enjoy the narrator James Marsters. I am also really enjoying all the character development except for Susan. I think she is boring and Harry could do better. I liked all the other characters including the bad guys. I will continue on to the next book , maybe Harry will come to his senses about Susan. 😀

And you're in for a treat if you continue with the books, Leslie Ann! They will only get better and better :-)

This had some interesting parts - like the world building - there is a race of empaths that are very powerful. And there is a race of "traders" that feeds upon the empathic power through torture. I thought that was an interesting premise. The main character is an earth girl who is 17!! And then it's like girl meets alien (who is probably 50? But he's alien so looks in his 20s). And they are meant to be together and fall madly in love. So that part was kind of stupid (and then there is the whole 17 year old thing...) But the alien is on the run, and there is a ship who is kind of sentient, and multiple universes, and...well it as kind of a mess but not horribly awful - just not great.

I'm only on book two but I can't wait to keep reading the series! Though, I'm sure not all the woman will be as feisty as Liz...
I loved this book and I don't know how to write a review without giving you a play-by-play. I wrote this review 3 different times and it kept getting longer and longer. LOL! This series is not the cheesy insta-love smut you think it will be (at least not yet!). Liz is a chatty, sarcastic human who knows how to make arrows and skin a porcupine/platypus crossover looking thingy. She will not be the barefoot and pregnant housewife Raahosh thinks he wants, and so the fun ensues!
Any Star Wars fans? The girls call this cold snowy planet, Not-Hoth, because, well, it's not Hoth 😁

I was glad to see this one since I have it on audio and wanted an excuse :)

No stress! We've still got time before it starts getting critical hehe.
I still need to finish my boyfriend book, but it's the collector's edition, so it's massive and I don't lug it around with me. I keep telling myself I'll read it over the weekend and then I just... do other things. Oops!

I love collector's editions. And sprayed edges. Sprayed edges may have become an obsession over the past two years... :-D

I really enjoyed this one! Story-wise it was something slightly different to the usual murder investigation - this time it was the threat of mass annihilation with bombs and everything - and as far as Eve's character development was concerned, this instalment packed a little action in that area as well. Everything was neatly woven together.

Review:
Honor’s Knight is the sequel to the Fortune’s Pawn. The characters are well-developed and the suspense keeps you guessing . It is refreshing to see a strong capable women character in a science fiction book. I will definitely read Heaven's Queen the 3rd book in the series.

This book picks up pretty much where the first one left off. Because of that, it's hard to review without giving away the whole first book. If you thought everything we learned in the first book was scary enough, wait until you get to dive into some of the character's backgrounds. Wayward Pines is not the idealistic paradise the residents are forced to believe and as more and more of it's secrets are reviled, the more danger everyone is in. It ends on major cliff hanger and I may have to say screw you to all my reading challenges and just read the last book now. :-D

Grier was training as a Necromancer's Assistant when everything was taken from her. She is now back home and just trying to scrape her life back together. We don't really get to see too much of her in action, though we hear a lot about what Necromancers can do (i.e. they created vampires). Something happened while Grier was incarcerated and now she is a wanted commodity.
I love the characters. I think Grier is only going to get stronger. Not just magically but as a person (Events in this book would give anyone PTSD). There's somewhat of a love connection with Boaz. He's her childhood crush that never really went away. Lots of flirting between the two but she's not sure he truly wants more than a fling. Amelie is his sister and Grier's BFF. Then there's Wooly. She the house. I want a house like Wooly....
Magic, Vampires, Haunted Houses, a bit of Politics, and a Zombie Parakeet. A fun way to start a series.

It's always fun to dive into the world of Mercy and her pack, who are living in Crazytown, to quote one of the characters in this book. There's always something going on and even if there wasn't quite as much non-stop action and battling all over the place, I enjoyed the ever so slightly slower pace. There was still a lot of plot and a decent amount of focus on the characters themselves, which makes for a nice change, too. I found it enjoyable, and am curious to see how the story continues.

I'll finish up Six of Crows by the weekend hopefully (along with another book I'm going to start now which I was really really hoping would fit the shelf call, but alas, no luck this time hehe) and then I'll decide which one I'll go with :-)
