I will be reading Dark Minds

Shelved 25 times as 'Sci Fi Romance'
I really enjoyed the first two books of this series...looking forward to this one!

I'll be reading Glory in Death by JD Robb which had been shelved as scifi romance 15 times

Review: This is the third book in the Class 5 series and just as good as the first two. The heroine in this book is Imogen (a human abducted from earth by an alien race). Her personality is strong yet endearing and slightly humorous (all the female heroines in this series are very likeable which makes the stories, for me, very enjoyable). We know there are five Class 5 spacecrafts controlled by thinking systems (AIs) in this new world that Imogen now finds herself a part of. In the first two books we met Sazo, Bane, and Eazi, and in this third book we meet Paxe and Oris. One of the most enjoyable things about these books for me is watching the relationships/friendships develop between the heroines and the AIs and this book was no exception. This is such a fun sci fi world with lots of interesting and enjoyable characters. And of course there is a romance involved here as well, which was sweet but not overdone. This book also brought back many of the characters from the previous two books which is always a plus for me. I really enjoy this series and hope the author continues with it...so much more story to tell!

The first one is still my favorite!!!

Review: I so enjoy the In Death series. I tend to read a couple books a year. What I really enjoy about the books is Eve & Roarke's relationship - two broken people that come together & are a support for each other. This story is a about a person who has a God complex, starts with a couple of murders of people living on the streets and the harvesting of their organs. There is a conspiracy that involves medical professionals, politicians, & police. This time we get more insight to Eve's story and why she is the way she is.

Thanks Kate...already feeling better...at least my head is not throbbing

I'm not a Vampire Bill fan; Eric had much more appeal to me from the first time we're introduced to him. This book is my favorite so far, needless to say, since Eric has more facetime than Bill. Lol! Seriously though, we get to see the softer/gentle side of Eric and he is just adorable! Sookie becomes the protector in this one, instead of being protected.
There are a lot of things going on in this edition - witches/spells, complete identity loss, were-panters, jealous vampires - fun read!

Book: Glory in Death by JD Robb

Review:
I don't read a lot of murder mysteries. Nor do I read many books set in the future. Both of those aren't things I'm usually interested in but I really enjoyed how everything came together in Glory in Death. The characters are all a little bit messy and it was fun anticipating what was going to happen next for them. I love Eve. She's the messiest of them all. She's stubborn which is part of what makes her so good at her job and I liked that she didn't always make things easy for herself. The romance with Roarke is fun and I can't wait to see how that relationship develops in the next books in the series. I also really enjoyed the mystery side of things. The identity of the murderer wasn't overly obvious yet was completely plausible when all was revealed. I can see myself getting hooked on this series.

Book: Emerald Blaze by Ilona Andrews

Date Read: 14/3/2021
Rating: ★★★★★
Review:
I'll admit to being a bit of an Ilona Andrews fangirl. And Emerald Blaze makes it so easy to continue to be one. I loved this book. I've been binge reading the series and read the first 4 books within a fortnight or so. This fifth installment to the Hidden Legacies series is a perfect continuation.
The magic and worldbuilding is fun. I like the magic and how differently it can be wielded. Just when I think I know how each character can use their power bam! There comes along another way which is unexpected yet makes sense based on what we know of that character so far. It keeps things interesting. I also enjoyed how elements like the Pit which featured in the first book of the series was revisited. The mystery was fun as was how they closed the case.
I'm also a fan of the characters. I liked Nevada who was the main character for the first three books but I adore her sister Catalina. Nevada was a bit more similar to Kate Daniels in many ways. I prefer Catalina as she's got more of a duality about her. There's the kind hearted softer side but then she's also got her BAMF part for when she needs to get stuff done.
The familial relationships are lovely and the romance is just lovely. All the side characters are interesting and I really liked how we see a different view of the same characters now we're following Catalina around from how Nevada saw them.
I can't wait for the next book and I hope the final book in the Catalina Baylor trilogy isn't the last in the series because I'm having too much fun living in this world.

Loyalty in Death by J.D. Robb

Date Read March 10 2021

Review:
This is just like watching a weekly cop/mystery show. Eve & Roarke have been married for 6 months now and they just continue to grow in their relationship. This time terrorists calling themselves after Cassandra of Greek Mythology are bombing targets in NYC and Eve and her team are on a race against time to stop them. Opens with a spouse murdering her partner. Seems simple case but nope there are some twists.
Love the secondary characters - get insight to Peabody and her life before being a cop and get to meet her younger brother. i so love Mavis. She is such a colorful character.

Witness in Death by J.D. Robb
Date Read: March 13 2021
Rating: 4 stars
Review:
This one was right up my alley - The story begins with Eve and Roarke out for a night at the theatre, enjoying a performance of Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution, when one of the actors is killed on stage when a prop knife is replaced with the real thing. What follows is a very Christie-esque mystery complete with countless suspects and many twists and turns.
I always enjoy the banter between Eve and Roarke, but it was particularly delightful in this installment. The secondary characters are starting to become more full. Truheart from #8 gets more page time.

Review:
Well this book has a gruesome killing spree of cops and an enemy from Roarke’s past lurks in the shadows. There is some push and pull in the Eve/Roarke relationship. These three plot lines are all connected and make for a very interesting read. The secondary characters are growing and Im loving them so much.

Review:I really enjoy this series, but this is my least favorite book so far. The storyline stalled a little and not much action until the very end. I also wasn't to keen on the romance this time around. Damon was a little too controlling for my taste and wouldn't let April exert any kind of independence whatsoever. The only place they seemed to fit together as a couple was in the bedroom. Damon is a badass as a warrior and I love his character, just not in regards to his relationship with April. The best part of the story was hearing about what all the other couples we have met so far have been up to. I still love the series and will definitely continue on.

Sookie has the worst luck with her love interests. She falls for yet another supe....maybe if she tried her luck with a human male. :-)
She also learns something about herself that makes her question why supernaturals are drawn to her. All Sookie has ever wanted is to be accepted and loved for herself.
This book wraps up several things from the previous books and sets the scene for the next adventure. I enjoy the books. Looking forward to finishing the series. (See what I did there - tied it to the shelf! LOL)

Sleeping Giants

Review: This story was told in a series of interviews by an unknown person who seemed to wield quite a bit of power. Surprisingly this format worked very well and I never felt I was missing out on anything. I can't really say much about the story without giving anything away. It all starts with the discovery of a giant metal hand and as the story progresses we are brought along on a journey of discovery of what this hand is, where it came, from, and what it means for the world. I loved all the characters and can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

New author to me. I really enjoyed this read. Great writing & story. Lots of action. Demi & her family have been banished from Werewolf City. She is the only wolf shifter attending her school. She is not allowed to shift and wears these magical cuffs that prevent her from shifting. The son (Sawyer) of the Werewolf Alpha meets her and is smitten. She is kidnapped and taken to Werewolf City where she is given an opportunity to compete to be Sawyers wife. Its the Werewolf Bachelor. Lots of magical creatures, good story line and love the wit. Will be continuing this series.

I really love Hadley and Midas! They are so good together; they aren't perfect but they perfectly balance each other! In this book we have all the families coming together and a major betrayal in the works. From this, we learn so much about Hadley's background and past. She gains complete acceptance by Tisdale and gets to experience the motherly connection with her.
I can't talk about the betrayal or the catasthrope because it would spoil the book if you haven't read it. There are all kinds of twists/turns though!! I will say that there are some pretty interesting developments with Ambrose and I can't wait to see where that leads!

Review:
Dimitri wasn't one of my favorite characters from the previous books. After reading this book, that is mostly his story, I see him in a different light.
This book is bit more dark as it deals with both Honor and Dimitri's near defeat and survival. It's heartbreaking and heartfelt as it takes us through these two characters trials and experiences. It shows us that while they are survivors, they both have lost so much. Ultimately they are each others redemption as well. And by the end, I was touched by Dimiti' character and his backstory made his harsh brutality in the previous books understandable.

Review: One of the things that draws me to this series is the very unique worlds that the author has created and how the characters move between them. The magic is also extremely creative and never disappoints. I did enjoy the main hero and heroine from this story Kaldar and Audrey, but the most fun for me was being reunited with the young brothers George and Jack who we first met in book one. They have aged a few years and are quite adept now with their magic. It was fun to see them head out on a real adventure together. This is one of my favorite series and I will definitely be reading the next book.
