Review: Not a big romance reader, so when I do read one, I prefer something with some humour. And Jayne Castle (Jayne Ann Krentz) always makes me laugh. This trilogy was completely enjoyable. The MCs have a sense of humour, albeit generally a weird one. They spar quite humourously. The female lead isn't incompetent and the male lead doesn't treat her as such. They are partners. And there is a mystery to keep my attention. And on St. Helens we have cat-dogs and coff-tea and aspara-cado and jag-pards and all kinds of wacky combintions to make things fun. Sorry there are no more in this series.

Review: I did not like this book as much as the first two. There was altogether too much violence, death and sadness. Everything was no-win. Not enough Oberon, not enough fluff, not enough humour. The ending drew me in though. I want to know what will happen next, where will Atticus go, what happened to the widow, Leif, the pack, everything.

Review: Wow! First off the format of this book is unusual and it really works - you are reading a bunch different types of files explaining what happened as survivors of an attack on an unauthorized operation flee into space. Kady is amazing and I really admire her courage. There are a couple of great surprises as well. (view spoiler)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Characters are angsty ... but it is YA
Science is WEAK ... but it is YA
Environs are well-described and believable ... Good author
This book was on a "book boyfriend" list, and he eventually ends up as quite nearly perfect. Eventually.
The story moves right along, with a lot of hidden dangers and pitfalls. There are minimal grammar or formatting type errors, and that makes it pretty readable except when your eyes are rolling at the outrageous science fantasy/fiction.
I started this series because so many of those whom I follow gave it good reviews, and overall, I agree. I've already read the next one...

That's a book that I really want to read, but I'm not willing to shell out money for the physical copy and I think that's the best way to read this. And my library is very small and this book isn't on the list. Someday I will get to it. :D Glad you loved it.

I read it on the kindle and thought it was fine. The only thing I couldn't do was change the font size based on how they formatted it.

Perfect timing for this shelf! How are you all doing? I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately - I've been working through requests for the site and the backlog is killing me... (For those of you who don't know, I created a book series tracking website last year called Books On Track and let me tell you it's a LOT of work! Feel free to explore! There's a Goodreads group as well if you're interested - link here.)
I finished all of my books but need to write reviews for most of them.
Are you enjoying your books so far?

Review:
Anna and Charles are back in an adventure that brings to light the story of how Leah became Bran's mate.
The story starts with the FBI knocking on Anna's door with questions about some land that Leah owns, where a whole village of people who had been living off grid disappeared from. Given that Leah was the only survivor of something really bad that happened at the same place when Bran found her many years ago, he is worried that he same evil might be responsible for the latest incidents too, and sends Charles and Anna, with Tag the berserker as backup, to investigate.
(view spoiler)
Long story short, (view spoiler).
I generally hate waiting for next books, but that is especially true when they leave things like this hanging!
An engaging book in one of my favorite book worlds that I'll have to wait until next year to revisit in a new Mercy story, Soul Taken.

Overall it was a great story that unfolded smoothly and kept you engaged. It was great to finally get some back story on Leah and how she became Bran's mate. However I hated the epilogue (view spoiler)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Review: I should know by now that if a book is marked as Fantasy and has a teenage girl as the MC, it is not for me. I finished it less than an hour ago and I already can't remember her name and had to go look it up. That's not a good sign. Kelsea. There we go.
Anyway, Kelsea is plain. She apparently had no other character, just plainness. She "falls in love" with her kidnapper because he's really hot and probably not as bad as he seems. And then she almost gets killed while thinking about how handsome he (and several other men) are and how she's probably too plain for them and then repeat. She improves slightly by the end of the book but it didn't improve my enjoyment. The world was interesting, I wish there was more about that and I wish that Kelsea didn't come into power until she was 45, but I think the problem was mainly me and many people love this book and I'm going to stop typing now.

Now she and her friends are looking into a decades old murder that has ties to her family and she is seeing some not so great patterns and finally starts communicating with her husband.
The friendship was great and I look forward to learning more about Monica and Val in future books.

Review: Mercy is my absolute favourite UF series. I portion them out like a really delicious snack, so that I don't run out too soon. Also, I didn't like the last "honeymoon" book very much, so I was crossing my fingers that we'd be back on track with this one. And we definitely were. It's funny because I don't usually like shifter books, but I love this series. And I don't generally like romance in my paranormal books, but Mercy+ Adam = adorable and I love them. The first conflict was resolved quite quickly in this book and the second was quite weird and vampire-y and again, quickly resolved. Maybe too quickly? I hope we get to learn more about The Moor. I hope we get to learn more about Tad. There's so many interesting side stories available in this series.
One quibble. I really don't like when I have to read two different series concurrently. I wanted to finish this and then read Alpha & Omega, but it sounds like this may be the beginning of when they intertwine and that doesn't make me happy. We shall see.
@Allison Ann - when you start Alpha & Omega series make sure to read the short story prequel first. It is my all-time favorite short story and has good background info (BTW, tie-ins between the series start here).
Thanks Diane. Looks like I should get the reading order for the world and start following that instead of just Mercy. Apparently I'm 3 books behind. :D And I have the short story, so I will definitely make a point of reading that first.

Review:

Tana Stone on Books On Track
Interesting premise but rushed execution...
Brooke is one of the humans who were selected to attend the alien warrior academy that would help them hone their skills in order to assist Earth in resisting the enemy invading aliens.
She is eager to prove herself and when Koran, the space-pod instructor of the class she is most interested in, doesn't immediately fawn over her awe inspiring skills, she acts like a petulant five year old and (view spoiler).
In the meanwhile, it comes to light that there is a saboteur among them working for the bad aliens, and everyone is suspicious of everyone else, including Koran, who stood out anyway since he is from a lawless clan.
In the end (view spoiler) and all's well that ends well for the happy couple.
The hunt for the remaining traitor continues in the next book of the series, Rebel, and Layla's story. I am more interested in the timid hacker and hand-to-hand instructor's story, which comes after that, but every book in the series is by a different author, so perhaps the second one won't be as rushed as this one was.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Review:

Once Burned on Books On Track
Vlad gets his own story and I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected!
Leila is a human with powers than Vlad's enemies want to use to get rid of him. Instead, she uses it to warn him and that's how the two of them meet.
He takes her prisoner until he can figure out who wants him dead, and she tries to blast him with her power than unfortunately doesn't work on him.
Vlas is arrogant, calculating and sarcastic, Leila is independent and stubborn, and there are sparks flying between them that have nothing to do with either of their powers.
I really enjoyed this book and went on to read the whole series, that continues with Twice Tempted in one sitting.

Instant Attraction on Books On Track
The story of Katie, an accountant who survived a terrible accident and decided to take life by the horns, and Cameron, a pro athlete who lost his career and returned home after a year of wandering.
Katie is temping for the company Cameron's brothers run when he returns, and the two are instantly intrigued by one another. However Katie is only there for a month and Cameron is not ready to start anything, so it takes them a while before they inevitably succumb to the attraction between them.
Their ways of dealing with their life changing events are vastly different, yet they end up helping each other heal and move on from the past, and they end up falling in love in the process.
Enjoyable story that introduces the Wilder family. The series continues with Instant Gratification and the middle brother Stone's story next.

WOW! A pnr romance that doesn't begin with a kidnaping...
This, and it's sequels, is a story arc of betrayals piled willy-nilly one upon another.
Characters both "good" and "bad" are well developed, the scify-lite is fairly consistent, so once suspension of disbelief is established, everything moves along smoothly.
I'd recommend this series to all, having read the next two already.

I paged down thru 20+ pages going "Nope, Uh Uh, Nope, Not Even...", searching for a first-in-series title and description that intrigued me, and finally settled on City of Ghosts.
I couldn't be happier, because although the protagonists are an eleven year old girl and a similarly aged ghost, and the Kindle page flashing by as I purchased it said something about Middle Grade Readers, The book didn't read that way. (view spoiler) Turns out it was a Reader's Choice nominee, and with the care in editing and formatting, and the authors incomparable storytelling, it was a great experience.
Truly, a "series to finish"!
