Heather Carrasco | 842 comments I have a Meg Ryan reference, but not with permed hair, so not sure that would work.

Feels like we need a way to track what things on the list might be most difficult, so that we can try to find books that will work for them. I'll add the name column back in so that people can put down that they have books for those categories. Feel free to put your name down even if someone is already there, since some books will count for multiple categories. But that will help us see that nobody is able to cover something.

I added the things that some you already called out that you can cover. I also put a couple of guesses in to get us started.

The Meg Ryan task is for bonus points and that's the only book where another task option can be used . So we can probably use it. :)

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 285 comments I can do task 6. The Color Purple I am reading is a physical book I bought before Christmas and the lady is wearing a white dress! I will add the proper cover to the spreadsheet later on

message 508: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 285 comments I am pretty sure the number 31 works for the audiobook I am listening to, written by Agatha Christie, The Hollow

message 509: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 4427 comments Sorry, Barbara. We need white male clothing to fit that task. :(

message 510: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 4427 comments But The Hollow will work for reserve, BTW. I have read it.

message 512: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 4427 comments Also, Task 31 modified a bit because of some issues, MPG Mystery or Mysteey-Detective will be accepted instead of Detective Fiction

What a pity! Anyway, I think I will finish this reading before the mini task, then!

message 514: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 4427 comments Is there any other mini task it may fit? If not, don't worry, just finish it when it suits you.

message 517: by Heather (new)

Heather Carrasco | 842 comments For 43-45 I think you might be right...they are from CA, if I remember correctly. I think you're right for the others too.

I have some more guesses too, so take a look. I put question marks on the ones I'm not as sure about.

message 518: by Heather (new)

Heather Carrasco | 842 comments This part of the challenge has got 80s music going in the house as I listen for things that might match the clues. lol.

Melindam | 4427 comments Has anyone read "Emerald Blaze" by Ilona Andrews?
It will work for the male white shirt/shapeshifter tasks and I was wondering if it would work for a reserve card? :)

I feel like Queen has to be one of them. But none of them is jumping out at me as Queen.

Laura..devouring books like crumpets (lauzacookie) | 640 comments 7-8 25-27 I agree with I'm not overly familiar on the other songs....

Laura..devouring books like crumpets (lauzacookie) | 640 comments I'm thinking Whitney Houston perm and I wanna dance with somebody... But no idea what space has to do with it

Laura..devouring books like crumpets (lauzacookie) | 640 comments A white shirt may be do able it was a whit suite and hat that was a no go for me

Heather Carrasco | 842 comments Laura..devouring books like crumpets wrote: "I'm thinking Whitney Houston perm and I wanna dance with somebody... But no idea what space has to do with it"

I was thinking maybe Private Dancer (Tina Turner), but also not sure what space has to do with it. But the music videos come into play, so I may spend an evening watching music videos to see if I can figure anything out.

message 527: by Heather (new)

Heather Carrasco | 842 comments Lorna wrote: "I’m utterly confused by the song thing🙈 (it doesn’t take much to confuse me) could someone please explain haha!"

I will attempt to explain, but others jump in as needed!

The book prompts group into sets of three, which together provide clues to a 80s song. We need to try to figure out the band and the song. The clues could be in reference to the song, the artist, or the music video.

So, as an example...
34. Read a book set in Australia
35. Read a book with at least 2 men on the cover
36. Read a book with MPG Travel
Band: Men at Work, Song: Down Under
Men at Work is an Australian band made up of 2 guys, and the song Down Under is about traveling around the world (basically).

Laura..devouring books like crumpets (lauzacookie) | 640 comments Ahh yea tina!!!!!!

message 529: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 4427 comments I am holding back my books for tomorrow morning to fit the mini tasks already. :)

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 285 comments OH NO! Number 28, 29, and 30 is Bruce Springsteen - Dance in the Dark. Bruce is known as "The Boss"!!!

I might be wrong but think about it!!

Laura..devouring books like crumpets (lauzacookie) | 640 comments tbh unless it's a soundtrack or rock.. I'm not too good with 80s .music, couldn't give you my opinion on Bruce Springsteen but your reasons sound good

message 532: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 285 comments Lorna, I also love the 80s! I was born in 91, but I had spent my whole childhood listening to Pet Shop Boys, Men at Work, Madonna...

message 533: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 285 comments Laura, I first thought about Celine Dion and Whitney Houston, both were married with their producers, but BS fits so well to this prompt... I am not sure, but let's wait for the others :D I found this mini task super fun

message 534: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 4427 comments I was born in 1975 so 80s music was totally the "time of my life", growing up. It brings back such great memories. :)

Laura..devouring books like crumpets (lauzacookie) | 640 comments I saw bowie one of my ultimate faves... Fleetwood mac, muse REM,.placebo snow patrol,.prodigy and rolling stones, the who and faithless live they was all great... Really want to see Metallica they are my ultimate... That's the kind of music I listen too unless it's in a soundtrack when its pop I don't really know it....
