I kind of cringed a little at how abruptly they ended it, but then I remembered this is a YA book so makes sense haha
Sophia wrote: "I agree Bella I thought it was abrupt since they ended right when they find out who Cocos aunt is"Yep, I kinda cringe
Exactly! It definitely left me with many questions but I think it's meant to persuade us to read the next book
I was kinda disappointed, because some typical stuff happened, just like a scene from any book for kids... Except for the language. :) And then I felt like the author wanted to wrap it up quickly, so she put all the synopsis for the next book into the final dialog. And Coco is like "My aunt is blabla" - whoooo? First time to hear about your "legendary" aunt, dear.
Bella wrote: "I kind of cringed a little at how abruptly they ended it, but then I remembered this is a YA book so makes sense haha" Yes, exactly. But is it YA, though? :D
Hmm... I'm not sure if it's YA exactly but it definitely feels like it. although I don't think it's appropriate for kids haha
Bett, I agree! I felt like a lot of what happened in the beginning could have been removed in order to elaborate more in the end
We all agree the ending sucked. I just hope the next part is better. There is still a chance to fix the magic, world (btw, 2nd book has a map of the place") and add some plot.
Bella wrote: "Bett, I agree! I felt like a lot of what happened in the beginning could have been removed in order to elaborate more in the end"Or just add a few more pages.. No one would mind that if it helped the story.
I still enjoyed the book very much, despite the problems I have with it! it was a good story, but I do hope the next book is better
Yes!! it was really sweet seeing the character development for Reid! He loved Lou so much, he killed his own "father figure" just to be with her again
that part did make me sad though, I felt bad for the archbishop, the betrayal he felt... but also he was a bad person so... haha
Bella wrote: "that part did make me sad though, I felt bad for the archbishop, the betrayal he felt... but also he was a bad person so... haha"That one was so problematic for me. I can understand you love someone to bits, but kill your dad, even if he is garbage? I'm not sure. Plus, it shows like something great he did, though I think he shouldn't have done that, it was wrong. Let Lou die, man, you can find another girl without blood on your hands.
Anna, I agree. It was very uncomfortable but to his defense, didn't the archbishop betray them, including Reid? Even so, I don't think it justifies killing your dad... especially when not too long ago he idolized him
Bella wrote: "Anna, I agree. It was very uncomfortable but to his defense, didn't the archbishop betray them, including Reid? Even so, I don't think it justifies killing your dad... especially when not too long ..."Yes! That's exactly what I meant. :)
I'm writing the review right now, will send you the link as soon as I'm done, please support me! It's the first time for me to write more than few sentences about a book.
Sophia, I was completely shocked!!! and i didn't understand what was happening until he explained it to his mom! I'm super excited to see how his journey goes as a witch in this next book
Me to I was confused for a second when he killed the Archbishop to save Lou but then when they explained it I became super excited to see if he starts to practice magic in the next book.
Bella wrote: "Sophia, I was completely shocked!!! and i didn't understand what was happening until he explained it to his mom! yes, and i loved the visuals! how the author described it as a sort of tether connecting them. and i love how it ties back to one of the main themes, which I think is that the earth demands balance
Bella wrote: "yes, and i loved the visuals! how the author described it as a sort of tether connecting them. and i love how it ties back to one of the main themes, which I think is that the earth demands balance"With that connection, I was like "Is that a mating bond or what" XD
Bett wrote: "I was totally confused for moments I didn't understand anything"Welcome to the club. I had to reread some paragraphs because the writing was so vague.
