Jimmy Barnes has proven, with music, memoir, cookbooks and books for children, that he has more than one string to his bow. His latest, Rosie the Rhinoceros, is a delight.5★s

I've not read American author Lily King before, but I sure enjoyed her collection of short stories, Five Tuesdays in Winter. I do love finding new writers I like. 😊

I generally don’t jump into a series at the 13th book, but I wasn’t aware, when I requested it from NetGalley, that The Silent Conversation follows twelve earlier volumes in the Anderson & Costello series by British author, Caro Ramsay. So although I was missing a lot of the characters’ backstories, I would say that it can still work as a stand-alone. The plot is certainly intriguing enough to overcome that. Excellent British crime fiction.5★s

Having enjoyed Jess Kidd's three earlier novels, I perhaps expected too much from her book for younger readers, Everyday Magic, and thus I was a little disappointed. Not as magic as I'd hoped but still 4★shttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The Girl in the Ground by Stacy Green https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I needed a book featuring a witch for a challenge and this was a light, fun YA read about a school for delinquent magical folk.
Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Hex Hall by [author:Rach..."I keep promising myself to skip the challenges, and then I remember that it was requirements like yours that made me find books that were completely off my radar, and some were excellent!
Her Second Death (Bree Taggert #0.5) is a short-story prequel to Melinda Leigh's homicide detective Bree Taggert crime series. I had never read any of this author's work before, but I enjoyed this introduction enough to consider reading the series.

I read enough of Double Blind to agree with those who thought Edward St. Aubyn was showing off and being preachy. One or the other, I might manage. Moving on!

A Cornish Christmas Murder by Fiona Leitchhttps://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...

Another classic sci-fi book by an iconic author, J.G. Ballard (who most people know best from Empire of the Sun). Three stars, for this dreamy novel; I think I read this one as a teen, but so long ago I did not remember it.
I would totally recommend it for people who want to read a classic sci-fi but are not interested in technology or space. People who like a strongly descriptive literary style.
