Next book is the 1st George and Molly mystery, A Bird in the Hand by A Bird in the Hand

Entertaining read! Here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

3 stars, entertaining, but not what would normally please me when it comes to reading a thriller/detective with a psycho as a bad guy!
I missed the details... and the ending, where multiple cases were solved, felt unnatural to me.

I'll be reading Freshwater sometime in the near future; I liked The Death of Vivek Oji but I have heard Freshwater is much better so I'm really looking forward to it.

Now reading Murder Board by Brian Shea, then The Summer House by James Patterson and Brendan DuBois.

Beautifully written but not my cup of tea. Here’s a link to my review:

Finished Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line by Deepa Anappara. Won the top Edgar award recently but works better as a coming of age tale than crime fiction. Rating - 3.5/5

Detective Inspector Matthew Venn investigates murders in an artsy community in North Devon.
The detectives are as interesting as the mystery. 3.5 stars

Stephanie Plum #10 or maybe 11, OK to read as a stand-alone. I've been reading the series in order and this is possibly the best one yet. Hilarious, reads like one of those 30's screwball comedies. Highly recommended.

The Last House on Needless Street
by Catriona Ward
Surprising and unexpectedly puzzling. For my entire review:

Well done police procedural with dogs! My review:

I rate it 4 stars. It is book 3 in the Shetland series, and I recommend that you read them in order. The central character admits that he has trouble explaining what a "Procurator Fiscal" is. I have included a relevant quote in my review.

Inspector Ian Rutledge investigates the death of a man who fought in the Bantam Battalion during World War I.
Clever mystery. 3.5 stars

Could one of you lovely people do me a favor? Please go to the GR homepage and look to see if you can update your reading status. I don't see anywhere to do so but maybe it's just me. Thank you.
Actually, thanks ahead of time, but don't worry. For some reason goodreads opened in the app version (which I do not have on this tablet) instead of the desktop version. All fixed now.

The earlier Alistair MacLean books were his best. I read them so many when I was a kid.

If you change your mind, consider giving The Tiger in the Smoke a chance. Bit of a slow burn, but I found it a very interesting novel.

You have to at least try one Campion novel. The casebook had some interesting stories, but they are not really representative of her nicely-done Campion books.
