I just finished listening to Dark Roads
Very suspenseful. A link to my four star review:

Yesterday I finished Hercule Poirot: The Complete Short Stories and today read More William not often I read a book in a day, but not often I read books less than 200 pages! Still a week left of classics month and not sure what to read next.
I just finished Unholy Murder
Great addition to the Tennison series. A link to my four star review:

My review of Serpent by Clive Cussler, 3.5 starshttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Next book is the 1st George and Molly mystery, A Bird in the Hand by A Bird in the Hand
I loved Akwaeke Emezi's debut novel, Freshwater, but I think other readers will enjoy The Death of Vivek Oji more than I did. Love, sex, acceptance.
3.5★ Link to my . . . Vivek Oji review
I finished The Unwelcome Guest by Amanda Robson
Entertaining read! Here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished Count to Three by T.R. Ragan3 stars, entertaining, but not what would normally please me when it comes to reading a thriller/detective with a psycho as a bad guy!
I missed the details... and the ending, where multiple cases were solved, felt unnatural to me.

I'll be reading Freshwater sometime in the near future; I liked The Death of Vivek Oji but I have heard Freshwater is much better so I'm really looking forward to it.

Vanishing Act
gives us an intriguing character in an unusual and well-realized setting, then fails to stick the landing with a plot that didn't spend enough time in the cookpot over the campfire. This is the first of nine books in the series, so there's hope that the author works out his plotting problems in subsequent episodes. Three lake trout.Read the full review here.

Finished Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line by Deepa Anappara. Won the top Edgar award recently but works better as a coming of age tale than crime fiction. Rating - 3.5/5

The Heron's Cry
by Ann CleevesDetective Inspector Matthew Venn investigates murders in an artsy community in North Devon.
The detectives are as interesting as the mystery. 3.5 stars

Ten Big Ones
by Janet EvanovichStephanie Plum #10 or maybe 11, OK to read as a stand-alone. I've been reading the series in order and this is possibly the best one yet. Hilarious, reads like one of those 30's screwball comedies. Highly recommended.
Just finished:
In the Woods by Tana French. This book #1 in the Dublin Murder Squad series.Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
book 6 is now $0.99 on amazon.com in Kindle format, or at least it is for me. If you're not in the US the price might be higher or lowerhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07...
Edit to change not to now

I read Red Bones by Ann CleevesI rate it 4 stars. It is book 3 in the Shetland series, and I recommend that you read them in order. The central character admits that he has trouble explaining what a "Procurator Fiscal" is. I have included a relevant quote in my review.

Could one of you lovely people do me a favor? Please go to the GR homepage and look to see if you can update your reading status. I don't see anywhere to do so but maybe it's just me. Thank you.
Actually, thanks ahead of time, but don't worry. For some reason goodreads opened in the app version (which I do not have on this tablet) instead of the desktop version. All fixed now.

The earlier Alistair MacLean books were his best. I read them so many when I was a kid.
Read a Margery Allingham book The Allingham Casebook, never read any of hers, and won't be in a rush to buy/read any more. Now starting Westwind
I just finished Police at the Station and They Don't Look Friendly
I've got a book hangover knowing this series is over. My five star review:

If you change your mind, consider giving The Tiger in the Smoke a chance. Bit of a slow burn, but I found it a very interesting novel.

You have to at least try one Campion novel. The casebook had some interesting stories, but they are not really representative of her nicely-done Campion books.

How was that book, Bruce? I’ve had it for a long time, just haven’t read it yet.
