lol. Hopefully, not. Then I'll have a chance to learn how to describe items by touch only.

Brian Benson (bknight47) | 343 comments What part did you touch, that you knew the body was dead?

Brian Benson (bknight47) | 343 comments Did you feel for a pulse?...

Brian Benson (bknight47) | 343 comments without light, you can't use the light in the eye trick...

Jimmie | 302 comments With a non functioning flashlight, that is what you call thinking on your feet.

In the story, I'm describing the body as an object, not giving away what it actually is.

message 359: by Brian (new)

Brian Benson (bknight47) | 343 comments you said 'stumbles upon a dead body' and now it's an object...lol you can't have it both ways, although stumbling on an object in the dark, could be a body. I have to tell you from experience, a body has a certain feel to it, even in the dark, unless it's rolled up in a blanket or tarp. Even then, a detective should have a feel for it, just sayin...:)

Tristan Hutchinson | 22 comments Would a rookie detective still have a feel for a dead body? How exactly would a dead body feel like if they were killed about 24 hours, with their blood fully drained? The serial killer wouldn’t want to cover up the body, since their plan was to frame someone.

message 362: by Tristan (new)

Tristan Hutchinson | 22 comments He would have stumbled upon the feet first.

message 363: by Brian (new)

Brian Benson (bknight47) | 343 comments Was the blood drained there or did it bleed out somewhere else? Even a rookie detective should know based on their studies. Max rigor mortis occurs shortly after death and can continue for 18-36 hours. Not sure how your draining the blood. Often if a body is moved shortly after death, rigor mortis sets in and the body is often in an odd position, than if it just fell etc. It takes roughly 40 minutes or so for the blood to drain from a body. Not sure how you are setting this up...

almost anyone kinda has a feel for a dead body. Not sure if you have ever touched or seen one. It's not like on t.v.

message 366: by Brian (new)

Brian Benson (bknight47) | 343 comments Your best bet is to really find a source, maybe a forensics student. If a civilian tripped on a pair of shoes in the dark, that was attached to something. The first thought would be a body...think about it

message 367: by Tristan (new)

Tristan Hutchinson | 22 comments Thanks Brian. I will try looking for a forensic student. The killer gave the victim a blood thinner before her wrist was slit. Yes that does make sense, which is why the victim is naked. The scene is out in country. The suspects house is surrounded by trees. The detective went to the house to ask questions based on prior evidence found at a school. While at the back of the house, his flashlight dies. Placing himself in the dark surrounded by trees. He managed to already trip over a root. I don’t have the entire chapter planned out yet either he’s going to stumble upon something on the ground.

Vickie Sarmina (iwrite0530) | 357 comments Hi Brian - so sorry I missed your book Red Ink - I explained to Steph that our little female yorkie was diagnosed with cancer in her mouth - and we have been battling that for a bit - so everything else took the back seat... I have been hearing from the group that this is a great book. Steph also mentioned COB as well. Would you have any ARCs available of either? Many thanks. Vickie

And, yes, I am happy to provide a review. I know all too well how frustrating it is awaiting feedback.

Take care.

Brian Benson (bknight47) | 343 comments Ruth wrote: "I’ve researched ex libris and still not sure what that means. All you professionals and your lingo. Ha."

Ex Libris is a hack publishing company that promises the moon and is only really interested in $$$ and selling you your own books. Plus they purloined my artwork and made it theirs. Very unprofessional...

Jimmie | 302 comments Brian, I started reading Twin Killing today. I’m already 25% complete with the book. Wow, what a doozy of a book! I lived outside of Midland for a few years when I was a kid. Thank goodness I never crossed paths with the twins.

message 397: by Chris (new)

Chris | 732 comments Ruth what is the time difference for PA and TX. The reason I ask is my kid bought tics for the virtual festival that is being held in Austin, TX which has been live for the past couple of years and was just informed that only a limited amount of people are able to see the certain performer, movie, etc. I can't understand it since it's virtual. It not like musicfest that was cancelled this year in PA.
