Thanks D.G, don't know how I screwed up that first one. I have just been looking at all the editions and posting the earliest one listed as a Kindle book (except where I looked at Feb 24 and Feb 26 and didn't see that the YEAR on Feb 24 was later than the 26, so posted the wrong one -- Argh). Is there an easier way to find it??

In the format section, I make sure to select "kindle edition" so that's the only one I see so even when there are multiple Kindle versions, you can take a look quickly at the dates. But I agree...there isn't a easy way to check books that have a lot of kindle editions. The first pub date usually shows up first but not always, which makes it a pain.

Also, I created a thread in the private group to discuss SH for the second date. Pooling our resources might be specially useful because of the "new to you category". I'm finding many books that fit the other 3 categories but all of them by authors I wouldn't be able to use them. But you might!

How to Check the First Kindle Edition
**Instructions on for desktop only**

1. Go to book's main page
2. Under 'Other Editions' click 'All Editions"
3. Under 'Format', select "Kindle Edition"
4. If more than one Kindle edition pops up, select "original date published" under 'Sort by' (this will ensure that the edition that comes at the top is the first Kindle edition.)

(Let me know if this is clear enough or if you need pictures.)

Team - I went a bit nuts and decide to create a spreadsheet in Google docs to keep track of our reads - we do this in another challenge I'm in and it makes things easier. :) See below if you want to take a look.

Right now, Michaele has the most books read, most pages read AND longest book on the team. WTG Michaele!!

The advantages of this is that:
1) This calculates automatically the number and totals of books & pages both for team and player
2) shows the player who has most books/pages/longest read - currently Michaele for all 3 but the formatting will change if somebody else reads more pages for instance
3) if you make a mistake with pages in a particular post, I can go and correct it for that post only and will recalculate all the numbers

Date 2 - A - Tasks: Breakdown of the qualifications for possible tasks for Date 2.

Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.

A is for Abroad - Read a book set outside the US.

To qualify for this task, the title, series title, précis, book details list or tag would need to indicate that the selected book Is set outside the United States. The setting can be a city, country or region. Remember, I am super picky about combo-tags!

A is for Acclimate - Read a book by a new to you author.

To qualify, the author of the selected book needs to be a new to you author. You can have other books by the selected author on your shelves, but only the one you read for this task can be marked as read. If your profile is private, you will either need to open it for the duration of this task or friend me so that I can confirm your books.

A is for Alibi - Read a Romantic Suspense book.

To qualify for this task, the selected books need to be tagged as 'suspense', alone or combined. The qualification for this task comes from tags/shelves ONLY. The tag does not have to be MPG, but the book must be tagged at least once to qualify. Please include a link to the top shelves page of your book's qualifying tag (not to the people who have used that tag or to the shelf for the tag!), the number of tags and the top shelves page number in your completion post. This information helps if the link is broken or if the tag moves as they frequently do.

A is for Apple - Read a book with a school setting or one featuring teacher or student.

To qualify, the title, precis, tags or list would need to indicate that the selected book has a school setting or features a teacher or student. Coaches will be allowed in context, that being they are coaching/teaching children up to college age. Professional or adult league coaches will not be allowed.

I should also warn you guys or give a heads up - I am having eye surgery next week and the next week - one eye at a time :).

I wasn't expecting that they could get me in so soon, but I really want to get it over with.

This means reading will be a bit tricky, but since I won't be able to work for a couple days I'll have plenty of time to read - just audiobooks obviously. I also will need to limit my time on my computer - so I may be a bit slow to post, but I'll make sure I have everything posted by the deadline.

It's mostly audiobooks and I can listen while I am at work, so I have lot's of time of audiobooks :)
