Author Note MARCH 2023: This book was originally published in 2012 with another publisher. It’s set in the UK, and I have changed the text back to UK vocabulary and UK English spellings. It’s been re-edited, but you may find references that aren’t as ...more | |
"Glorious sword and scorcery romp. With a surly knight who is really the long lost king and a sunshine apprentice this story is an utter joy.
It's got everything. Swords, magic, bandits, an evil but cowardly 'king' on the throne, a quest, and goats. L" Read more of this review » |

SOLVED. Adult MM Romance, contemporary. MC's father was paranoid and committed suicide (off page) but the police left the cut rope on the stairs and the down-on-his-luck(?) son can't face clearing it away when he has to stay at the house. [s]

“Mum calls you happy.” Emily giggled.
“Huh? I don’t know your Mom…” “She says men like you are happy!”
Garry stared at her, uncomprehending. He’d rarely felt less happy in his life.
“She means gay,” Max said, and now there was a grin on his face.”

“She wriggled against him, obviously pleased. “So are you homey special?”
He frowned. He didn’t want to keep questioning her, but this one had him foxed. No combination of vowels or spoonerism made this one clear. Max barely moved his head but he answered as usual for her.
“She means ho-mo-sex-u-al.”

“He lives near me so we do some things together.” His throat felt tight. “Well, lots of things, actually. But of course we have our own lives. Both know it’s important we don’t get in each other’s way. It’s not like he needs me, needs my help for anything.”
“But you do.”
Garry turned his head so swiftly, he heard it crick.
“You need him,” Emily announced, gravely. “Don’t you?”
And while he desperately searched for something to say that would stop this right now, she peered carefully at his shoulders and neck.
“You need him to do your hair, to comb out those very nasty dangles. It’s difficult, I know. I can’t do my plates on my own.”
Max caught Garry’s eye. “Tangles,” he mouthed. “Plaits.”

“My experience of life is that it is not divided up into genres; it’s a horrifying, romantic, tragic, comical, science-fiction cowboy detective novel. You know, with a bit of pornography if you're lucky.”

It was a treat to meet you - and hubby too of course! who must think we're all loonies - and MANY thanks for the lovely photo :):)
Keep in touch! x

It was lovely to meet you and thanks for being so welcoming to poor old hubby!

We Brits must stick together :D. Seriously, I enjoy writing in my native world. When I first started out, the market was largely in the US, so I generalised a lot of my settings. But no more of that now :)
