Dubhease | 644 comments I read The Moonstone. It's long, but part of the ddevlopment of the detective novel.

Stina (stinalyn) | 464 comments Grandfathered or not, I'm going with silver: Silver in the Wood.

message 103: by Laura (last edited Mar 08, 2021 10:26AM) (new)

Laura Miles | 244 comments I just received The Final Revival of Opal & Nev as my Book of the Month. Looks like it would appeal to anyone who loved Daisy Jones and the Six. It's also an early release (expected at the end of this month), so it's currently very low on reviews if anyone wants to fulfill that category as well.

message 104: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (soulflame1) | 60 comments I read Iron Lake by William Kent Krueger, the first book in his Cork O'Connor series.

message 105: by Kara (new)

Kara I'm going to read Nickel and Dimed.

message 106: by G (new)

G I'm gonna read The Mountains Sing by Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai for this prompt. I googled "definition of mountain" and it said "rock" lol so I said YES, using it! Especially because I impromptu bought this book because the description sounds amazing and I wanted to fit it into the challenge.

message 107: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 782 comments I may be stretching on this prompt but I'm going for it. I read The Lions of Fifth Avenue by Fiona Davis. The lions they are referring to are Patience and Fortitude outside the Beaux-Arts building at Fifth Avenue and 42nd street. They are marble which is metamorphic rock. I'm using this book because this may be as close as I get to fulfilling this prompt.

Heather L (wordtrix) | 780 comments Finished Pearl Cove by Elizabeth Lowell for this prompt this afternoon. Good rom-suspense!

Though I am using it for my gem, it also fits other prompts: “set in multiple countries” (3), a “book with three generations,” and “bestseller from the 1990s.” If you’re a jeweler or into jewelry it would also fit “current/dream job” as well, and fits “zodiac sign” for anyone who is an Aries.

ETA: Would also fit “a place you would like to visit in 2021”— set in Australia, Seattle, and Hong Kong.

LeahS | 491 comments Also How Much of These Hills is Gold by C Pam Zhang.

Took a while to get into, but has wonderful imagery and a really different take on a western. Would also be excellent for the ATY siblings prompt.

Recommendations: The Moonstone; The Salt Path; The Hare With Amber Eyes: A Family's Century of Art and Loss.

Chrissi (clewand84) | 238 comments I picked up a book called Tin Man that I may read for this and put The Mountains Sing into another category. Tin is on the long list of minerals PDF that was posted earlier.

message 111: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (zumbajess) | 176 comments I read “Salt to the Sea” by Ruta Sepetys for this prompt.

message 112: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Allen | 3 comments Does cyanide count? Science not
My thing lol

message 113: by Lilith (new)

Lilith (lilithp) | 1073 comments I would not count cyanide as a mineral. It's a chemical compound. Its organic compounds are called nitriles - not really stable like a rock, mineral or gem.

message 114: by Heather (new)

Heather (heatherbowman) | 903 comments I read Dragon Teeth by Michael Crichton for this prompt. I loved it. It's Michael Crichton writing about dinosaur (bones) so of course I'm going to love it. It's historical fiction/Western rather than sci-fi, but still wonderful.

I decided that since teeth are bones and bones contain minerals this book fits the prompt.

Nyla | 33 comments Cards on the Table by Agatha Christie

Are you sure you posted this in the right place? It definitely fits heart/diamond/club/spade on the cover, but I don’t see how it fits gem/mineral/rock in the title.

Lilith (lilithp) | 1073 comments A Study in Emerald
I loved A Study in Scarlet, and if you did as well, or if you’ve read any Arthur Conan Doyle, you will likely enjoy this graphic novel. You will likely cotton on to what Neil Gaiman is up to here. Even without any prior reading, this a clever, enjoyable story. My first Neil Gaiman read, and the first retelling I enjoyed since The Ballad of Black Tom by the inimitable Victor LaValle

message 119: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Evans (bamalibrarylady) I read "The Final Revival of Opal & Nev" by Dawnie Walton.

The Final Revival of Opal & Nev by Dawnie Walton

message 120: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) If I'll have the time, I'll either read Throne of Glass or listen to House of Salt and Sorrows.

message 121: by Sofia (new)

Sofia Samu | 82 comments I went with Ruby Red (Precious Stone Trilogy, #1) by Kerstin Gier . All the books in this trilogy would fit actually.

message 123: by Pam (new)

Pam (bluegrasspam) I read a Russian short story collection “Rock, Paper, Scissors and Other Stories” by Maxim Osipov.

message 124: by Sneha (new)

Sneha (drsnehakrishnan) | 42 comments I read Cobalt Blue
