Zuzana | 2570 comments I'm really interested. Can you explain what do you mean by "benefit"? Is it like insurance or better pay, more paid off days, better health care? And did you succeed?

BTW Here unions in big companies represent all workers not just their members so whatever benefits they manage to negotiate apply for all the employees.

message 2952: by Reva (last edited Jun 20, 2015 05:25AM) (new)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments All of the above. We were also getting paid less than hospital nurses and nurses working in identical jobs in other Ontario cities. We lobbied for parity in pay, time off in lieu of pay when overtime maximums were reached. Increased inservice teaching and funding to attend educational courses and conferences.

We have different unions representing teachers, police, government workers, auto workers, electricians etc.

message 2953: by Zuzana (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments If you managed to negotiate all that then all I can say is good job.

Reva wrote: "We have different unions representing teachers, police, government workers, auto workers, electricians etc. "

We have those, too, for certain professions. But you can also found unions in any private company if you manage to get enough members to sign up (three people is enough). Czech republic is a post-communist country so we're kinda big on workers' rights. ;-)

I know. My best friend is Czech. I travelled with her and spent 3 weeks in Prague about 10 years ago. We went during Prague Spring so I attended concerts daily. I got to know the transit system better than she did. I loved the city and got to meet many wonderful people.

That's great. I work in Prague and spend 5 days a week there. Funny thing is that while I like classical music I've never attended a Prague Spring concert. There's too much of a crowd for me. I prefer smaller events, e.g. Dvorak's Prague. Have you been to Stavovske Theatre while in Prague by any chance? Many tourists go there to see Mozart's Don Giovanni (it's the place where the opera had it's world premiere in 1787). If not and if you plan to come back one day definitely check it out. It's worth it.

It's hard to tell. She's listed as Alev Croutier on Wikipedia. So Croutier is definitely her surname. But I have no idea whether Lytle is a middle name or her husband's name.

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments I attended concerts in St. Vitas Cathedral (organ concerto), Lobkowicz Palace  and Several concerts the Basilica of St. George (Dvorak's Serenade for strings) at the Castle.

They performed Smetana's Ma Vlast at the Municipal Hall. I attended concerts at Rudolfinum, and small venues about town. I saw Bartered Bride at the Opera House.  I attended several concerts in the Mirror Hall of the Klementinum.

I loved sitting in outdoor cafés drinking coffee and reading. My friend Eva left me for a week to visit her childhood friend in Wiesbaden, and I managed on my own just fine. Needless to say I just loved Prague.

While I attended many Mozart concerts, I never made it out to the Estates Theatre.

Anything you can contribute is Very welcome. However don't waste Heal Potions to regain HP. If you level up however, that would be great. If not now, I'm sure there will be plenty of future opportunities given the devious nature of our Mods. :-)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Can we get an estimate to complete the beans? So far we have:

Angel. ------ 7 Paper Civets per week
Catherine - 7 Paper Civets per week
Mary. ------ 7 Paper Civets per week
Reva. ------ 7 Paper Civets per week
Zuzana ---- 7 Paper Civets per week
NancyHelen-1 Paper Civet per week
Rebecca -- 1 Paper Civet per week

100/39= 2.56 weeks

With Theresa 7 Paper Civets per week

Sounds like you had a great time, Reva. BTW I love Bartered Bride (my 2nd favourite Czech opera right after Dvorak's Rusalka). Janacek might be all the rage in the world but Smetana is the most beloved composer among the Czechs.

Is anyone interested in participating in a BARTER ONLY (no gold) Book Trading Fair with the express purpose of helping Heros increase the attack of Swords and Staffs? This will enable all of us to lift plagues and other maladies foisted upon our Heros faster.

I'd appreciate comments.

Zuzana | 2570 comments Reva, I consulted my tote, and it currently contains only two books I can part with. The rest of the books was read with specific quests in mind and I would hate to lose them.

If we're aiming at increasing APs of our weapons then:

I have a 200+ and a 400+ book and I'm looking to swap them for #2, #6 or #10 books.

message 2968: by Cait S (new)

I'm in need of two 500 page books to up my sword but I'm in no hurry. I can give you #2 and #6 but I'm looking for #10 myself. I have lots of series books #1-8

Zuzana | 2570 comments Reva, thanks for the offer but I don't have any 500+ books and I'm afraid I don't have any planned in foreseeable future. So I need to pass. Sorry.

You see, I have my staff books planned in the range from 200+ to 400+ books. So to read any book with more than 500 pages for the purpose of swaping them would take me more time than actually reading my pre-planned staff books.

Come to think of it I read only one really long book this year and it was to get my horse (600+ pages).

EDIT: That's why my sword is still only level 3. ;)

I have a #2 book, would either of your books fulfill these requirements?

To make the extract read a book on the list of crush books.
or

I use Goodreads. When there are two series orders available, usually chronological and publication ones, I use either of them. If I can't find it on GR I go first to Wiki and then I look for it elsewhere on the net (I start with author's official page).

A heal & a major heal, so not too bad. Now trying to work out how I can get 32exp points before Weds (when my damage potion runs out), so I can get full heal & tackle the red.

Only if a spell-induced crush counts. You see one of my books is A Midsummer Night's Dream. ;)

But it won't work because the crush book has to be on the linked list. BTW that list is dreadful. If you look closely the majority of books were added either by one or two people only (and most of them are exceptionaly trashy - books not people XD).

Yeah, as I was going through that list I was quietly sinking into despair. Thankfully on page 7 or so I came across The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I was curious about all the hype so I checked it out and I liked it. Pretty decent for a YA book - reminded me slightly of Looking for Alaska.
