PBT Zoom Meeting - PART TWO
************* OUR NEXT MEETING ***************.
August 17th, 2024 - 4:00pm EST - hosted by Theresa
Invite in Message 496, page 10 of this thread.
.
Any of those times are ok for me. However, for the 8pm, my preference is Saturday.
Not that Sunday goes late for me, but I do have to work on Monday, so it's nice to not have to have something happening on Sunday evening.
5 or 8 eastern for me. I haven't had as much time, so my vote shouldn't be top of the list, but I would like to get back to them :). 8 pm Saturday is good for me at this point as well.
I think we should keep a regular Saturday slot for those who are on the other side of the world, which would be Sunday for them. Then we can see how much participation is for that and adjust if necessary. It would be nice to hear from them to see what time slot is their preference. Or if anyone there can host. For me I join whenever I can, as most of my time is spent at home. But I like the idea of scaling back to twice a month as I get Zoom fatigue like I'm sure most of us do.
Glad we are moving to twice a month. Would prefer the 5PM EST time on Sunday. If we do an evening, I think Saturday would be my preference but am flexible really.
Saturday nights are out for me in general. But if anyone from the other side of the world was committed to coming to chat with us, I would make an exception, just to be inclusive to them. I rather like 5 and 8 on Sundays.....
So far it seems that 5p and 8p are in the lead. Would be nice to hear from some of our international members if other times work better for them.
1 p.m. works for me but I'm definitely out at 8 pm because I know how we are and it could go too late for me. I'm pretty drained at night. 5 pm is suppertime here but I haven't made it lately anyway so I don't think my vote really should count.

My preference is 1p and 8p ... but I can make any time work.
OOPS .. wrong invite in earlier message ... THIS is the correct oneSUNDAY, Oct 4, 5:00 p.m. Eastern time

G'ah! And I'm going to miss this one, anyway. I have plans (imagine that!?) for a dinner theatre on Sunday. Mentioned it to those at the last Zoom. We'll see how it all goes!
I will plan to be at the next one.
Robin P wrote: "Darn, I totally forgot, just checked to see if you were still on but it doesn't look like it."We did end around 5p. Sorry we missed you.
Also ... I just got an email telling me that SallyS had joined the meeting ... but I never got notification of that, so didn't "let her in" to the meeting. I'm sorry about that SallyS!
Sorry I had to run. I could tell my house was getting chaotic and loud and charged...... Sending love to you guys....
I'm going to practice with BC to figure out how to host the next Zoom meeting. What is the date and time of that meeting again?
Doughgirl5562 wrote: "I'm going to practice with BC to figure out how to host the next Zoom meeting. What is the date and time of that meeting again?"I think the next one will be an evening one at 8pm Eastern. Likely on the Saturday, though, as more people indicated trying Saturday as the preferred evening meeting. (I'm sure BC will correct me if miscounted).
If I'm correct, it should be October 17th at 8pm Eastern.

That is correct, Cin!
I'm willing to give hosting a go. I didn't have any time to practice, but if some of you are willing to be my guinea pigs I would like to try!

Lynne! I have been looking for you arduously and fervently! I tried to message you, and couldn't find you! How strange is that because it feels like were friends. I also wrote to you and others on the Purple Sage chit chat, and suggested that we chat on the phone, if a PBT zoom meeting was too far away. You know what I did after that? I put out all my Voyager questions, (although I vastly prefer to talk about it in person - yay!) into a footnotes thread on PBT which I am pretty sure no one saw, because I got zero responses. And I know we have quite a few Outlander fans. I have been haranguing my close friend Melissa to talk to me about it, but she's been busy making calls for Biden in swing states, which I agree has far more importance! And yet my questions remain. So.... here is my suggestion. I don't want to completely take over the zoom, (although I am quite dying to....)... And I would have loved to hear Tessa's thoughts anyway.... My suggestion is that we fix the "friend" problem, and exchange phone numbers. This way 1) if you are having trouble starting the zoom, I can help you start it. 2) If needed I can host instead.... and 3) We can talk Voyager off line another time, and thereby leave the Zoom for its originally intended form. That said, anyone who wants to leaf through the Footnotes and find my questions and offer something up, feel free.... I am halfway through the Starz Season 3, which folks have told me kind of goes off the book a lot, but so far, I appreciate the stylistic changes they have made to make it work. I fear though that the questions I have will absolutely not get answered by the show. Lynne - I will try to find or friend you once again with my phone number. And I will contain myself and behave for the zoom, unless we are suddenly left completely alone.....

I also wrote to you and others on ..."I am sooo sorry that you haven't been able to reach me or get an answer to your Voyager questions! GR messaging hasn't been working well recently, and frankly I've been a little stressed with work and family stuff and haven't had little time for more than a drive by of Goodreads in the past two weeks. I'm lucky that I remembered there was supposed to be a Zoom call tonight LOL.
I have accepted your friend request and look forward to talking Voyager with you!
Doughgirl5562 wrote: "I'm willing to give hosting a go. I didn't have any time to practice, but if some of you are willing to be my guinea pigs I would like to try!"Yay! Thank you, Lynne! I'll be there!
Well that went off without a hitch! Thanks to Robin and Cindy for being my guinea pigs on my first Zoom. Zoom did extend the time past the 40 minute limit, and we had a lively discussion for almost two hours :-)BC, We talked about a book that I pretty much hated - and saw that you did disliked also - A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. Robin helped me to see some of its good points. (But I still pretty much hate most of it LOL.)
FYI - Zoom made me an offer to lift the 40 minute limit for my next scheduled meeting, so I went ahead and scheduled one for November 1st starting at 4PM Central / 5PM Eastern. So if need be, I can host that meeting also.
I was going to comment that - despite there only being three of us, we apparently can talk up a storm and still fill 2 hours! LOL!Thanks for the chat, ladies! (And I want to find a way to share one of my photos of that Western Tanager that I mentioned...)
Oh, nice to already have the next one set up. Thanks, again, Lynne!
annapi wrote: "Yikes, I forgot this was today and not tomorrow! Sorry to have missed it!"Yeah, it was our first Saturday. I prefer Saturday, actually, especially later in the day as this one is.
LibraryCin wrote: "(And I want to find a way to share one of my photos of that Western Tanager that I mentioned...) ..."Tried to upload two separate photos here to GR and I got an error message, but it didn't tell me why it wouldn't upload. My best guess - size, but I really have no idea.
Are you ladies on facebook. I already have the photos there? I'd be happy to add you on facebook, if you are there.
Doughgirl5562 wrote: "FYI - Zoom made me an offer to lift the 40 minute limit for my next scheduled meeting, so I went ahead and scheduled one for November 1st starting at 4PM Central / 5PM Eastern. So if need be, I can..."Great ... and thank you!
Wait! I thought it was 8pm tonight! I missed it? Was going to get Lynne's phone number.... Jeez.....
Wait - it was last night? Oh jeez... I vote not to meet on Saturday night unless we know that Kate or Susie is in. Otherwise, what is the point? If we are doing it for the around the world folks and they are not planning to come...... Oh well. I'm going to get that number, but looks like I freed up an hour this evening....

Our next one should be next Sunday, Nov. 1, I believe. I think it's the 5pm one? As long as there is someone to host.
LibraryCin wrote: "Our next one should be next Sunday, Nov. 1, I believe. I think it's the 5pm one? As long as there is someone to host."Cindy, I already scheduled a Zoom meeting on November 1st. I "think" it's at the right time (given the time change that day). I'll post the link on November 1st.
