NP - I was on a better time zone to get this done then you :)

Book: Hunter by Mercedes Lackey
Qualification: #1 Hunter
Date Read: 10/23
Rating: 3 stars
Review: This was a letdown. The story was pretty typical fantasy/dystopian with a chosen one from outside the capital etc. The part that kept pulling me out of the story was the really condescending way religion was treated. You really shouldn't call anyone’s religion as magic and also be condescending while getting the details incorrect is just bad research, which is too bad as some of the charecters were quite fun but there was nothing to hold up around them.

Book: How to Live an Undead Lie by Hailey Edwards
Qualification: #5 in Beginner's Guide to Necromancy
Date Read: 10/23
Rating: 5 Stars
Review: Betrayal, Magic, Action, Humor, Mystery, Romance and Grier really starting to come into her own - what more could you ask for? I have really fallen in love with this series - some fantastic secondary characters (I love Lethe) and her friendship with Grier brings some much needed light heartedness to the book. I also adore Linus and am so happy to see him with Grier. They have a great connection with respect and passion. Can't wait for the next one. Very much enjoying the narration of this series and highly recommend them in audio format!

How it Fits: Leigh Koslow Mystery #5
Rating: 3.5 stars
Review: A good fun, convoluted mystery full of twists and turns and red herrings. I enjoyed the cast of characters and what's not to love about a crazy cat lady, especially when she's a millionaire. Looking forward to the next book.

Review:
I am a sucker for a good time travel story and when one is written by one of my favourite authors then I am going to pick it up as soon as possible.
This was everything a time travel novel should be - romance and mystery and a haunted old manor. I loved every minute of it and was so please to see that it the first in a new series by this author.
5 wonderful stars

Although I love motorcycle stores, the gang seems a bit soft to me. The romance was good...sexy parts, love it.

I was so bored while listening to this audio and I kind of question why I finished it. I mean the heroine got on my nerve on page one and I never really warmed to her or the plot. This will probably be my last book by this author, we just don't click.

Works for bonus point for Urban Fantasy MPG

Loved the first book in that series. Do not know why I haven't picked up the next one yet?

The Awakening
Read: November 1
Rating: 2,5 stars
Graveyard Queen #6
Bonus: Paranormal, horror & urban fantasy
This was the last book in the series and offered answers to many of the questions from the previous ones, sadly many of them were a bit far too fetched and obvious for me, but they were answers all the same. - And the only reason why I did pick up this book. I did like the overall plot of the book, but I am beyond fed up with the characters so I am happy I won't spend more time with them.

How it Fits: Vicki Nelson #6

Review: I don't read the backs of books before I read them, so I didn't know this was short stories and not a novel. I enjoyed most of the stories, particularly the contemporary ones. I have been off historical lately, so Henry's past stories didn't really interest me as much. An enjoyable short read. I'll miss the series.

Book: Foxglove Summer by Ben Aaronovitch
Date: 11/4/20
Ratng: 4 stars
Pages: 377 pages
How it fits: #5 Rivers of London
Review:I liked Peter leaving London and having more time with Beverly. This was a lot of fun with the sheep and the countryside and was a nice break from the faceless man overarching plot. I look forward to the rest of the series.
Edited: MPG Urban Fantasy bonus

Review: This is pretty much a sweet no angst series but this one just fell a bit flat for me. I didn't really feel the spark between the two MC's. The stress of having triplets was very well portrayed but the romance was just lacking for me. There wasn't much to the plot other than the stress of triplets which seemed to drag for me. Not a book I'd reread but it won't stop me from finishing this series.

Week 7: Spot 56

Deadly Ever After by Lily Harper Hart
Pages: 271 Pages
How it Fits: #6 in Hardy Brothers Security Series
Date Read: 11/6
Rating: 3 Stars
Review:
I love Lily Harper Harts paranormal series but I struggled with this, her non paranormal series. IT probably didn't help that I read this out of order so it took me some time to work out who was who and it its defense I found it got a better the further I got into it. I think the main problem was that I didn'tr really feel much connection with the main characters so that I struggled to move through the book a little. In the end I found it redeemed itself a little so I will continue on with the series.

I have to head out now so I will post our spot and do a proper roll post when I get back later today

How it fits: Sasha McCandless #2

It's only one bonus point even if we all read for it - you can only claim it once (you probably know that) :)

I did but thank you. I wanted to give credit to Allison as well.

- One point can be earned for starting and finishing a series.
- One point can be earned for never picking a book from the alternate lists.
...is this correct?

Though I do see that Denise only has us with 3 points on the first post and we should have 5.

I was looking at the first post. Great then, I am sure we are good.
Looks like I hadn't gotten around to adding the Halloween bonus yet - I go by points you list in Post Your Spot, and you haven't posted last week's reviews there yet. Please do!
I couldn't find anyone claiming the 3 books from the same series bonus.

Denise, thank you, we are kind of a mess here this week in the US or at least I am. I checked us in and hopefully did it correctly, I will see with my team about the three book one. I figured the Halloween one wasn't claimed yet and was trying to figure out the other bonuses. Thank you again
Lexi wrote: "Denise, thank you, we are kind of a mess here this week in the US or at least I am."
Ha, believe me, your election mess kept the whole world glued to their screens waiting for updates!
Let me know if you find that someone has qualified for the 3 book bonus, otherwise the tally in the first post should now be up to date. :)

Oscar by Bailey Bradford
Pages: 155
How it Fits: #2 in Leopard's Spots
Read: 11/8
Rating: 2 Stars
Review: Not what I expected from Oscar after reading the first book. The whole beginning felt like a plot device since they really accomplished nothing during their trip except for Oscar meeting his mate. Not surprising since they had no real plan of action. The book was mostly sex with a little family drama and a tiny bit of a plot with a villain. I already own the 3rd book so I'll probably read it but I'm pretty sure after that I'll be done with this series.

The Cold Eye by Laura Anne Gilman
Pages: 368
How it Fits: #2 Devil’s West
Read: 11/11
Rating: 3 Stars
Review: I really liked the first one when I read it back in 2016 but took me awhile to get to this one and it was quite a letdown. The plot was slow, the ending did not make a lot of sense and the point of view was kind of flat. I am not going to read the third one, but I do recommend the first one as quite an imaginative world building.

Week 8, Spot 62

Pages: 462
Date Read: 11/11/20
How it Fits: Sasha McCandless #2
Rating: 3 stars
Review: I enjoyed this more than the first book. The mystery was interesting and had a much more human aspect than the first, although Sasha herself remains very cold and impersonal. Not sure why Leo puts up with her. And my personal pet peeve, the repetitive Krav Maga moves were largely missing. Whew! A great read and I'm looking forward to continuing the series.

Qualification: Wicked Witches of the Midwest Fantasy #6
Read: 11/12
Rating 4 stars
Review:
This was a fun instalment with a mysterious object crashing just outside Hemlock cove, Federal agents refusing to talk about what happened and new newspaper owner and witch Bay Winchester determined to get to the bottom of it all.
Though is a an offshoot series of the wicked witches of the Midwest series, it features the same characters and it was fun to read about them in a slightly different type of setting.
As usual this was a quick entertainingg read

Review: The fist book in the series was steaming hot. I have been itching to get back to this one in a while. (view spoiler) . I love a good enemies/lover story. This was a bit sweet and not as good as the fist book in the series. At least from what I remember["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
