A couple of things to keep in mind:
✸ Communication is key. Please make sure to check in regularly with your team.
✸ Let your team know if it looks like you won't get your review posted by Thursday, 11:59pm. You do have all of Friday to submit your review, but it can be intensely frustrating for your captain if they don't know when or if they can expect your review before the deadline.
✸ If you know beforehand that you won't be able to read and review a book during a certain week, you can request a pre-arranged absence from me, either by posting the request in the discussion thread or by sending me a pm. The request has to be submitted before the team rolls for the week in question, can only be approved by me as the mod in charge of running the game, and has to state a reason for the absence. (Reasons for pre-arranged absences can include e.g. going on vacation or work trips, planned hospital stays, exam period, etc.)
✸ If you do not have a pre-arranged absence and won't be able to finish your book in time for an unforeseen reason, please let your team know as soon as possible. If the team has earned the free pass, it can be used to cover the missing review. Without a free pass, the team has to sit out the next roll.
✸ We all know that real life gets in the way sometimes, be it through family emergencies, work emergencies, natural disasters, technical problems making it impossible to get online, or in other ways. That being said, please do keep in mind that this is a team challenge and your team relies on you to do your part unless an emergency occurs.
✸ If you find that the pressure of keeping up with the pace of the game gets too much for you or you wish to stop playing for any other reason, you can drop out of the challenge at any time. In that case, please let your team captain and/or me know that you wish to drop out rather than just disappearing without a word so your team won't be penalized when you fail to turn in your review. Thank you!
Captain's Handbook
✸ The team's captain is its chief organizer. This includes rolling the dice, posting the team's new spot to the team thread and the Post Your Spot thread, collecting links to team members' review posts in a single post to be linked in the Post Your Spot thread, doublechecking that books and review posts comply with requirements, reminding team members to post their reviews in time if necessary, etc.
✸ The captain may delegate some tasks, such as rolling and posting the new spot to the team thread, to another team member if they so choose. (Either a designated roller who fulfills this role every week, or whichever team member is online first once rolling is possible.) Collecting reviews into a single post and posting to the Post Your Spot thread should always be handled by the captain.
✸ Instead of having everything handled by a single team captain, teams can also choose two co-captains to handle the workload.
✸ Selection posts are not strictly required by the game's rules and I won't be checking for them. It's up to the team captain to decide whether they want them.
✸ If the team captain requests a pre-arranged absence, it's their responsibility to arrange for another team member to step in as temporary captain.
✸ The team captain is my primary point of contact for the team and should allow receiving private messages.

✸ One point can be earned for reading three or more books in a series. - DONE
✸ One point can be earned for reading a book with >500 pages. - DONE
✸ One point can be earned for starting and finishing a series. There must be at least 4 books in that series. Series + spin-off totalling ≥4 books also counts. For series with >9 books, point will be awarded for reading books 1-9. For still ongoing series, all books published to date (OR up to #9 in longer series) must be read.~ No re-reads on this one.
✸ 2 in 1: One point can be earned for reading a book that fits both the series number and the alternate for the spot you are on. - DONE
✸ One point can be earned for never picking a book from the alternate lists. This point is awarded when your team rolls past 90.
✸ Halloween Bonus: One point can be earned for reading a Horror/Paranormal/Urban Fantasy book for the roll on 10/30.
NOTE:
✸ Each point can only be earned once per team.
✸ The series-specific bonus points (3 or more books/ starting and finishing a series) must be two different series.
✸ Single book bonuses (>500 pages/ Halloween/ 2 in 1) may overlap with a series bonus.
How to use bonus points:
✸ Bonus points can be added to your roll to move you further along the board. Each bonus point can only be earned once and spent once.
✸ Bonus points may be used for the win. Example: Your team rolls and lands on spot 97. Your team has earned 4 bonus points. You can use your bonus points to move to spot 101 and compete for the win.
✸ You don't have to use all your bonus points at the same time.
✸ You can also use your bonus points earlier in the game. Example: Your team has earned 3 bonus points. Your team rolls and lands on spot 88. A team member doesn't have a book that is either #8 in a series or fits the alternate. They do however have a #9. Your team may decide to use 1 bonus point to move to spot 89 and have 2 bonus points remaining for later use.

Yay Danielle! Its been ages since we have been on a team together :-)
if no one else is keen I can be captain as the early hours of Friday rolling day occur in my Friday afternoon.
Just a heads up though, I start a new job next week and while the timing should still be okay for performing captainy duties, I may need to ask for help further down the track

Yay Danielle! Its been ages since we have been on a team together :-)
if no on..."
I thought the same thing - seems like for awhile we are always on the same team but then .... so glad to be back on a team with you.

So now we have the horror of picking a name. :D Anyone enjoy that sort of thing?

You'd think. :D
We're not a very chatty team are we? Anyway, the only bookish seven I could think of was The Secret Seven (after the Enid Blyton books). I absolutely loved "detective" series when I was a kid. Still do to think of it. :D
I've found my full series of at least 4 books that I'm going to read this round. I love trying to get as many bonus points as possible. :D
What is everyone else up to on this lovely Thursday?

I usually try to do this but with my work schedule crazy I can't guarantee but I will try again this year.

How it fits: A Chocoholic Mystery #10 (also, not sure if it counts for the bonus point, but I've been to Michigan several times, not to Warner Pier because it doesn't exist, but to the state).

I always try for this bonus too. I'm a series reader. :D

Congrats on your thesis! :D

Thank you, I have drafts of 2 of 3 chapters but still a lot to do if I want to graduate in the Spring

If you can definitely get the bonus, then I'm going to change my selection to At Wick's End by Tim Myers - 192 pages, Candlemaking Mystery #1. This is the first of the whole series I will read for a bonus.

Review: I enjoyed the start of this new series. The mystery was fairly simplistic, but the setting and characters were cute and left me wanting to learn more. The specialized store in a small town that magically supports the MC and staff is a typically annoying cozy theme, but I'd have to quit reading cozies if it bothered me that much. I was just thinking about pumpkin doughnuts and now a recipe magically appears. This book was meant to be. :D

Today is a stunningly beautiful day and I am stuck in my office waiting for some new people to check in. It's always the new people when the day is gorgeous, never the regulars, so I can't just leave a note on the door and run off to play. Hope it is stunningly beautiful where you are too. :D

Review: This might have been a it's just me and I didn't pay enough attention to this book because I was confused for part of this book and well bored for another part of it. In fact I could swear it was almost over and then when I looked I was barely half way done!
I didn't really feel the love between Sean and Cormac and it just seemed liked Cormac wasn't over Michael until suddenly he was. There is a stone that's cursed and terrible dreams that are hard to listen to and then another dimension all thrown into this book. I got to a point where I just didn't care what happened to these characters and simply finished the book because I was walking around work listening to it and didn't really have anything else to listen to at the time.

At least you know and you don't have to waste time deciding if you want to read on. :D I have so many series where I want to give them a second chance, but I don't really want to read on.

Week 1: spot 10

Murder al Dente (Southern Pasta Shop #1)
Read: September 21
Rating: 3 stars
Review:
This was a good start to a new cozy mystery series. I loved the fact that Andy really had a past, and not one like she’d done a bit of travelling and met so and so while doing this and that. No I mean past with a capital P, as in teenage pregnancy, feuds/bullying, loss of a parent and so on. Don’t get me wrong it was never heavy, it just added flavour and letting the reader or listener get to know who she was, and why she did certain things. Oh, and I like that everything isn’t always easy. And when you add the great performance by Suzanne Cerreta I have to say that I had a very pleasant afternoon.

Review: It got better as it went but the relationship between the two friends was so unhealthy at the start that it was painful to read. The villian was a bit too comic and the whole things was a bit all over the place for me.

Review:
Between the fact it is a new shadowhunter series and the gorgeous cover, this has been on my TBR since it came out. I am so glad I finally got a chance to read it. I really enjoyed the new characters and found myself really coming to like Cordelia, James, Matthew and Lucy in particular very very quickly and I was drawn very quickly into the story. While I did pick a lot of the stpory lines and outcomes very early on, ther was still enough twists to keep me guessing until the end and being the irst book, I am excited to see where the series will lead. What I found most surprising was how quickly ui became attached to the characters and genuinely cared what happened to them. It helped that we had previous characters from the Clockwork series (though grown up some) to make the connection between old and new. I am especially interested to see where James and Lucy's powers will lead them.
A great start to a new series, I give this book 4 stars.
***BONUS POINT - Read a book with >500 pages - Chain of Gold has 672 pages

Or we could go with:
- Too lazy to come up with a team name ;)
A couple of other ideas:
-7 books until midnight
- Booking it to the end
- Too busy reading
- 7 bookaholics sitting in a tree, R-E-A-D-I-N-G
- Shhhh, we're reading
