Book: The Dating Proposal

This was really a no brainer for me since I'll read just about anything Lauren Blakely writes. I started this series with the older version books she originally wrote and I can tell a difference between those books and this one. The dialogue and banter is snappier and there isn't as much inner rambling. It makes me want to go back re-read the other updated books in the series that's I've already read!

This book was pure smutty over the top fluff. I smiled a lot and didn't have to think which made it perfect for what I needed right now.

This was a fun read, you have a cute chef going back home and she meets the swoony, ruggedly handsome farmer. It's a match made in heaven. I love how they just got along so well and were willing to just say how they felt at the end of the day, the food made me drool and I so want to eat at her cake food truck! Looking forward to seeing what happens with her best friend and the dairy farmer. Also happened to be baking some pumpkin chocolate chip cookies during this read, I was inspired :)
So, I'm getting lots of great reads off this particular challenge...not sure if I should read the next book in the Nuts series or the Spellbound series!!Although, I just got a few library holds in, hopefully they work for challenges.
Louise, how is your book coming along? No rush, just curious! I have a love/hate relationship with Marie Force.
Stacie wrote: "Louise, how is your book coming along? No rush, just curious! I have a love/hate relationship with Marie Force."me too, but i have to admit mostly love. she's a go to read when i need easy. even her angst isn't overly angsty.

I read the first Gansett Island and didn't care for it but I read those Fatal books like they were candy.
I've only read a few and they were 2 and 3 star reads...so I've been nervous to try more. I just may have read the wrong books :)

This wasn't exactly terrible but it felt to me as if there wasn't enough of the story surrounding the two MC's. It came across as a bit of a side story as the novel seemed to flip between one couple and the many other couples. It was supposed to be about Owen & Laura, but we get other stories mixed in. I really enjoyed the first book in this series and I enjoyed book #10 so was a bit taken aback when I started reading and could have sworn that I had already read it. But no, part of book 10 was included in this which i found quite off-putting. I will persevere with the series but go back to #2, hopefully it will be better.

Please correct to the first edition Kindle page count. 😊
Since I'm not waiting for corrections - yet, here is Task 4:9. Each player reads a book in the same series, teams decide. No pass for this task.
As a team, select a series listed on GR and everyone reads a book in that series. You can read the same or different books for this task. Please include the selected series in your completion post.
I've got quite a few series on the go on the moment thanks to KU.Apparently I need a #2 or #4 for SS this week.
What series can we all agree on? Ones I have immediate access to are:
Most Jill Shalvis depending on the library and then stuff in KU.
I don't think LaurLa has KU (I could be wrong) so that might impact things some but what are you all wanting to read?
I have KU so not an issue. Plus we can also share with each other if we need to.I wish there was a way to compare books with more than one other person at a time!
What I 'need' to read are these... but I can go along with whatever. These are all over the place as far as genres go!
Stacie wrote: "I could definitely do Spindle Cove, Lauren Blakely or Pride (I think) from LaurLa's list."Also this Lauren Blakely
Great... the next one in the series for me isn't 150pp. So I'll be reading the next next in the series...

It was...fine? I was bored mostly with this one. All the drama over Katie's birth mother and the Gramercys was just a snooze fest and I never bought her relationship with Thorne one bit. After tearing through some historicals earlier this year, I thought I had turned the corner on them but this one reminded me why I need to be careful with HR.

How It Fits: #2 Spindle Cove
This was quite a fun light hearted read although not of the same caliber as Erica Ridley or Julia Quinn. I found Minerva to be a refreshing heroine brought out of her shell by the rake Colin. The tales Colin weaves on their journey to Scotland were amusing and often had me thinking that they will be found out. I’ll need to go back to the beginning of this series so as to enjoy it in its entirety

First book in the series and I didn't really love Bram for most of this book, he took too many liberties that didn't sit well for me. I did begin to enjoy it more toward the end, but I think I enjoyed the twins more than any other characters in this book...and dinner the sheep :)
I'm sorry team - I got caught up in real-life and stuck in a horrible book for 2 days. I'll get mine done tomorrow at the latest.

I enjoyed this final book in the series. There were some LOL moments in it for me that I really needed this week, so that in itself made it a winner! I liked the banter between Charlotte and Piers. This series has been comfort reading for me because I know the slide into love for the MC couple will be angst free and not rife with OTT Big Misunderstandings. This one didn't disappoint.
Here is Task 5:29. Read over 750 pages in books about the same profession, teams decide which profession.
Professions such as athlete, musician or law enforcement officer are acceptable. Just don't try to pass off a rancher and a chef as both being in the food industry - they are simply too far apart. Remember to tell me how you know the book qualifies. Saying MC is a musician is not enough, I need to know how you know that so I know where to look to confirm your books! Include other information or links as necessary. Also remember to use the first edition Kindle page count. 😊
I have a book with a surgeon and psychologist, one with a teacher, one with an Olympic athlete, one with a librarian, one with a police officer, one with a bodyguard, one with a professor and a prosecutor, one with an artist and one with a hockey player.I can keep looking if none of these work.
I also have one with a police officer (deputy sheriff) and athlete...which works with Stacie's options.I also have a musician and executive in the queque.
Can we have finished it before we decide? I finished a book yesterday with an athlete yesterday so still after we got the call.I have an upcoming with firefighter. Can probably find police officer (or law enforcement officer?)

Review: This is my second or third book by Lauren Rowe and I'm quickly moving her up my go to author list. The men are over the top but so fiercely loyal to each other and their family that I can't help but love them too. The sex scenes are firey and there is a lot of depth in the plot. This one was great.

How It Fits: As per precìs - "Gabe Sullivan risks his life every day as a firefighter in San Francisco."
Review:
This is the 3rd installment in the Sullivans series this time is the story of Gabe and Megan. Gabe is a firefighter who rescued Megan and her daughter from an apartment fire. Megan is a young widow with a 7 year old daughter whose fighter pilot husband died in a tragic accident. As they both battle their growing attraction to each other we see them battling their own demons to realize that love means taking risks. Can’t wait to read the next in the series.

Review:
This is the second gay-for-you or I-didn't-know-I-was-gay-until-I-met-you book I've read in a week or so. The differences between the two books are vast. I felt like the author here did a great job of showing the confusion and uncertainty both MCs were experiencing. Chad has been out since high school while Hollywood didn't even know he could be attracted to a man. Add to that confusion was Hollywood's homophobic and abusive father (who also happens to be their boss) and you have a recipe for lots of angst and drama. Which there was but it wasn't OTT and it was handled well and authentically, for the most part. I enjoyed the journey and will be glad to see a slice of HEA on the final novella of the series.

Review:
I really enjoyed learning about the skills needed for this type of firefighting and how much trust and training is needed. With this background it was great to see Rowan and Gull develop their relationship through this and deal with the mystery part of the story. I enjoyed the secondary characters and really just enjoyed the variety of characters and support they had for each other.
