The Dating Games #4

Most Likely to Score

Rate this book
It seemed like a good idea at the time…
As the team’s publicist, I need a football player to be the face of our charity calendar, and Jones Beckett needs a savvy PR woman to manage his new sponsorship deal.
A simple give and take, and I’m sure I’ll have no problem following my iron-clad rule — don’t date a player. And never ever fall for one. No matter how charming, big-hearted and devilishly clever the man is.
But you know what they say about best laid plans…
Once I start spending my off-season days and nights with Jones, I’m following a brand new playbook, one that has me falling hard for the incorrigible flirt — heart, body and mind.
That’s against the rules, and now what seemed like a bright idea has turned into a dangerously forbidden one.
***
It was supposed to be an I-scratch-her-back-she-scratched-mine kind of arrangement. And man, did Jillian ever drag her nails down my back on one hell of a hot night. Okay fine, it was several hot nights on the road.
Now we’re back in town and it’s time to set the play clock back to when we were simply player and publicist. Given the way the last few years have gone, I can’t risk this deal. Trouble is, I want more than than just another night with her.
What’s a guy to do when he's always been most likely to score, but the woman he’s falling for is way off limits?

Most Likely to Score is Lauren Blakely's new forbidden romance. It's a standalone but we met these characters in Most Valuable Playboy. I love a great forbidden romance and add in some football and it's a winning combo. Lauren knows how to write sexy, fun, sweet and alpha men. Every time I meet a new Blakely hero I can't believe I love him as much, if not more than the one before him! I loved Cooper, I did. But Jones just does it for me. He's perfection. He's the perfect mix of sweet and sour, soft and hard, fast and slow, dirty and loving. I couldn’t get enough of his mouth or his hands. He's has a thing for the team publicist, Jillian, for a while, but he can't risk mixing business and pleasure when he's trying to clean up his playa reputation. But, that doesn’t stop him from flirting with her. A lot. Jillian isn't going to fall for Jones's charms even though she's been crushing on him for a long time. The flirty banter, sexy looks and funny one liners are all in fun. Right? Maybe not… Jillian needs one of her players to help with a charity calendar and Jones is just the mane for the job. He's sexy, funny, an animal lover and the camera loves him. Jones isn't losing out in this deal though. He's getting Jillian and all her PR glory to help him mend his bad boy ways. He's not really the player the world thinks he is. After spending time alone together, Jillian sees the real Jones. He's sweet, caring, giving and turns out he does have a type and it's not skinny blondes. Jones knows he should keep his hands off her, but he can't help himself anymore. He's been attracted to her for too long and it's time to take action. When they find themselves alone on a business trip, they throw the playbook out the window and engage in a few nights of hot, sweaty sexiness. But it's not enough for Jones. He wants more of this beauty with her Asian heritage, love of luck and gorgeous hair. They promise it's over. It was just a few nights, but after they are home they can't stop thinking about their nights together. It was more for both of them and it's torture being apart. Can they take the chance and be together? Will they ruin the careers they've worked so hard for? I can't even express how much I love these characters. Jones is everything. Seriously. He so sweet and I swooned every time he spoke to Jillian. He's just the right amount of dirty to turn you on, then sweet to keep you there. He loves kids and animals and he's not afraid to show his soft gooey center. Jillian is badass. She's fantastic at her job, and loves her family. She knows how to do sexy business attire, lucky earrings and confidence. Together they are fun, sexy, silly and their banter is perfection. I laughed, cried, had to fan myself, swooned and laughed some more. I also need some damn cherry pie. Jones and Jillian are one of my favorite Blakely couples!

"You can look at me now. I'm fair game."
"Take your clothes off, please. I'm begging you."

I want her hands on me. I want her owning my body. I want her to know that she's the only one I want touching me.

"Woman, if you didn't tell your best friend about me, I'd have been devastated. The fact that you told her makes me weirdly, stupidly happy."

"It's tasty," he says.
I bet he's tasty.

I loved Jones and Jillian. Absolutely loved them, and their pets, and the rescue animals, the calendar and the kitten.

At this point, writing a review of a Lauren Blakely title and stating that I loved it is, well, a little anticlimactic. We all know I loved it, because she is a fabulous writer who writes the sex, the romance, the characters, the supporting characters, and the scenes perfectly. When you have an author who hits perfection as consistently as Lauren Blakely, you know you are going to love everything you read by her.

So, shockingly, I know, I loved Jones and Jillian's story. For all the reasons, but because I didn't want to put it down. Because I pretended to take a nap at my parent's house over Christmas weekend because I wanted to finish the book. Because I loved the adoption story of Jillian and loved that she is Chinese but it isn't a "thing" it is just who she is, and she is proud of it. I loved the writing, the flow of the story, the development of the romance, the relationship with other characters.

I loved this book.

I loved Jones and how hard he struggled to do the right thing, to not risk Jillian's reputation when all he really wanted was her. And, I laughed with him, and maybe a little at him, when he finally realized how much she really did mean to him.

I recommend this title.

Jones Beckett is sexy, outgoing, flirtatious, and has BIG...hands...and he knows how to use them. He's the star receiver for the Renegades and his career is going well. But his reputation off the field could use a bit of rehab to dispel his party guy, womanizer image. He is need of direction not only from a new agent, but the team's PR Director is also stepping in to help.

Enter PR guru, Jillian Moore. She is beautiful, witty, personable, responsible, and hard working. And Jones has had the hots for her for awhile, but now she is giving him extra time and attention and he is enjoying every second of flirting and tempting her. She has had a crush on him for a long time too, but is just trying to be professional, keep her head high, and not ogle him while she watches him pose in various states of undress for promo shots. She does not think he would be attracted to her as she looks and acts differently than the football groupies of his past. Neither has a clue that the other is harboring an attraction or feelings for the other, so there is a lot of sexual tension, temptation, and avoidance going on.

Jones is fun, charming, flirty, and a bit dirty, but he also has a big, kind heart. He totally and completely won me over early on and I absolutely adored him. He goes out of his way to help others and support charities. And he knows what he really wants, even if the idea is new to him and he is not sure how to go about getting it.

But eventually they will get too close for comfort and everything they have kept hidden will spill over on one intense weekend. But what happens when they have to return the real world...the one where a relationship between them is basically forbidden and could risk both of their careers?

This is a story about two likable and good people that have a major conflict that is out of their control. If they sneak around they could jeopardize her job or promotion, and his focus, reputation, and sponsorships.

I really liked that this one did not have a lot of unnecessary relationship angst or silly dramas. The conflict came from outside of that. They had real reasons to worry about what being "outed" could do the careers that they have worked hard for and take seriously and it was a risk for each of them.

But eventually it has to come down to priorities and risk vs. rewards. They will have to make a decision about what they can live with and without. This is a funny, sexy, sweet, swoony, forbidden love story told in dual points of view. We really needed both of their voices in this one especially since they kept their feelings hidden for so long. And their personal relationship really evolved so naturally and felt so real. I loved each of their personalities and senses of humor that just shined through during their self talk and personal interactions. They are truly just one of those couples that you want to see overcome any obstacles.

This can easily be read as a stand alone, but does revisit the Renegades world. I liked getting to know their families and and friends. His brother, Trevor and his team mate, Harlan stood out. I was excited to see the return of a certain Manager and quarterback from Most Valuable Playboy. Her friends, Katie and Lily were also significant in the story. But the character that totally burrowed a place into my heart was his amazing little superdog, Cletus. What a charmer!

I hope that we see more books in this series. I really want more with the pie-baking, running back Harlan possibly with a certain woman that we have already met.

I was gifted a copy by the author.

Jillian Moore and Jones Beckett are the newest couple that Lauren Blakely has given us. A couple that should be off limits to one another, but when the chemistry is off the charts you can’t help feel that this needs to happen.
Jillian is an Director of Publicity for the Renegades and Jones Is a wide receiver for the Renegades, work should be the only thing that they do together but when they spend more time together they can’t help feel that they need more than a working relationship.
There are a lot of obstacles in their way but when you know something feels right you might just have to take that leap of faith.
You can definitely call what they have a forbidden relationship but you can’t help call it a Heartwarming one as well.

Most Likely To Score is yet another out of this world delightful story by Lauren Blakely about a love that can't be denied. Jones Beckett as the very talented wide receiver and former playboy would like nothing more than to clean up his image with the help of one Jillian Moore, publicist for his football team. These two have been secretly lusting for the other for more months than either of them wish to admit and as they find themselves spending more time together for the good of Jones's reputation, they get to see each other in a different light and somehow they fall even harder for one another. A few days in Miami for a calendar shoot turns into a 'one-time' tryst that Jones and Jillian can't help but savor and soon they wonder if they'll be able to still keep things platonic once they are back home.

Once again, I love how the author doesn't play games with her characters. There is plenty of angst in just having Jones and Jillian trying to stay away from each other, knowing they could jeopardize both of their careers if they suddenly exposed their affection to the public. My heart broke for both of them as each look of longing or slight touch when others were present had to be kept private. They both wanted to put their hearts on the line but at what cost?

The playfulness between Jones and Jillian is full of respect and desire and it was a joy to watch as they try and figure out a way to be together for more than just a weekend. And of course, no Lauren Blakely book would be complete without the requisite scene-stealing animal, since they always find a way into both our hearts and those of her characters. In addition, the symbolism used with respect to Jillian's Chinese heritage was a welcomed bonus. Writing about something that is close to the author's heart gave this story that true cherry on top. It's those kinds of details that set her apart and why I truly adore her work.

5 solid stars!!

Another hit by Lauren Blakely. Loved this story of Jones and Jillian. We met them both in Most Valuable Playboy and I couldn’t wait to read their story. Theirs is a forbidden attraction so they deny their feelings and both just play it off with witty flirts. Time and just life shows them there is more there. More than just lust. Now what? Risk it all for love? Read to find out. This is a touching story. It’s not about football although Jones is a pro football star. It’s a story of taking chances, family, love, careers, potential loss, and grabbing your HEA if you can. Lauren gives us a little of herself in this story too which you’ll find out at the end. So touching. I read this early copy to give my honest opinion. I loved it! It melted my heart so many times as well as melted my panties with the heat from these two. Did you read the intro? He’s 6’5” so he’s “big” everywhere. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Can’t wait for the next one to come out.

There’s honestly not a better way to ring in the new year than reading an upcoming release from one of my favorites. Jones and Jillian’s story has been one I’ve been crazy over and anticipating to read ever since Most Valuable Playboy . They’ve both given us enough peeks and teases into their budding relationship to get us hyped and overly excited for their own book. And reading it—indulging on yet another sensational Lauren Blakely book and finally getting my hands on Most Likely To Score—has been nothing short of sweet, blissful cloud nine.

This book is also a stark reminder of why I truly love this particular author and her work—it was the perfect blend of adorable and sexy and witty and funny. And this time, even with a touch of forbidden involved that made the tale that much more compelling and unputdownable. This couple’s chemistry—the way they were together all throughout, from the time they were both trying to avoid the intense attraction they felt towards the other to the moment they finally gave in and let their desires and emotions be known—was completely undeniable and more than enough to spark up my e-reader with its own majestic firework display.

Jillian Moore is most certainly one of a kind and is now one of my favorite heroines from this author to date. I absolutely loved the diversity and personal touch Lauren Blakely added on to her character. It made Jillian that much more special, appealing and spiced up in my eyes. What I adored the most about her though, is the balance of toughness and softness in her personality. As the Renegades’ publicist, she knew when she had to be sharp and in the zone, no matter how hot and tempting the man she’s been lusting over for years was, all laid out in front of her—full monty style. She knew how to do her job well and that’s why she’s one of the best in the field. But she also knew when to dial it down. The fun little tidbits in her personality, her confidence, her addiction to lucky charms—just like Jones and his superstitions—and the smallest habits she has will undoubtedly win you over.

Jones Beckett is a DREAM. A hero who’s utterly swoon-worthy to the core. Not only because of his pure talent and huge... hands and other... parts, but because of his charm, kindness and wit as well. He started off as a typical well-known football player—one of the best wide receivers in the league—with a wayward image, but the more you get to know him, the more you see his true colors... you just wouldn’t stand a chance against the guy. He will blow you ovaries to pieces. I mean, Jones loves his family like no other. He’s a puppy and kitty lover. Calendar shoot—mark my words. And he will burn your panties off with his dirty talk. For real. No, he’s not perfect—he made mistakes and had his own trips down the road—but he more than made up for it all. And let me tell you, it was GLORIOUS.

I fell in love with how these two just worked so well together. Jones and Jillian had the kind of connection you’d yearn your romance novel characters to have from cover to cover. They were both so ambitious and charming in their own way, smart and completely endearing, with a huge heart full of love and passion, and a closeness to their families that will just melt your insides. A match made in romance heaven that will definitely leave you giddy as fudge sticks.

If you’re looking for a fun, flirty sports romance that will leave you on a swoony high... you bet your sweet cherry pie that picking up and devouring Most Likely To Score will be worth your while. Just ask all the butterflies still swarming and fluttering happily in my tummy. ;)

Dear Ms. Blakely,

Thank you so very much! Thank you for always providing me stories to entertain me, stories to provide me smiles, stories to make me swoon and stories to make me wish I could be one of your leading ladies. You are one of the most talented authors I know and I’m thankful that the start of 2018 starts us off with a bang...a banging book that is…literally! Now back to the story, Jones is incredible! He’s down to earth, charming and definitely swoon-worthy. Insert his perfect bombshell publicist Jillian and talk about the most likely to be perfect! These two are a dynamic duo, both in business and in friendship. I could NOT wait for these two to hit the sack and heat up the sheets. Of course you know best and never disappoint. The steam factor was off the charts and I couldn’t be more addicted to Jones and Jillian. I couldn’t wait to see if Jones and Jillian had feelings for each other or if they'd be doomed forever due to their business relationship.

Sincerely,
Your biggest blogger fangirl!

P.S. Did I forget to mention Most Likely to Score is a 5 star read? Yep, this fangirl is obsessed with these characters and this story. Thank you for another addicting story that took me out of my miserable little life (joke) and swept me away to a far, far away place!

Jones really is everything. He loves puppies so that is a no-brainer...sign me up! He has a effing cute lopsided grin...yes please! Ohhh and he has ABS for days...days people...I mean hello what more do you need to know about him? NOTHING all that just sealed the deal for me....book boyfriend status has been reached.
I guess I should say some nice stuff about Jillian...what a lucky gal. She is a sexy professional that has it together. She has a major crush on the playboy Jones, but doesn't want to cross that line...until she can't resist him anymore. These two crazy kids fall hard fast, but they work together so...

Nobody writes a romantic comedy quite like Lauren Blakely. Not only are her books lighthearted and amusing, sufficiently fulfilling the comedy portion of a rom-com, but they’re everything you could want in a romance – sexy, sweet, and oh-so-swoon-worthy. Every time I dive into a new rom-com by Lauren Blakely, I’m blown away by how she takes a familiar trope and a new set of protagonists and creates a story filled-to-bursting with passion, humor, and heart. Her latest release, Most Likely to Score, is another flawlessly executed story that’ll have readers laughing, sighing, blushing, and swooning as a publicist and an athlete get their shot at a Happily Ever After.

As the publicist for a professional football team, Jillian Moore is tasked with ensuring her players remain scandal-free – a task that’s especially challenging when it comes to reigning in a certain incorrigible playboy. Did I mention she has a crush on said playboy? NFL wide receiver, Jones Beckett, is a shameless flirt, always trying to get the attention of his consummately professional publicist, yet Jillian believes his flirtatiousness to be more playful than serious. Therein lies the problem: they’re unknowingly lusting after each other from afar, never acknowledging the sexual tension simmering between them...at least until it becomes too palpable to ignore.

Working in close quarters as they rehab Jones’s public image opens up a new level of intimacy between Jillian and Jones. While a romance between them is off limits, that doesn’t stop the sparks from flying or their dirty thoughts from running wild. A rapport that’s teasing and innuendo-laden (and perennially just one suggestive comment away from being inappropriate) combined with off-the-charts chemistry heats up their flirtation and unleashes the raw, primal, uninhibited passion that’s steadily built between them over the course of the narrative.

Fun-loving, entrancing characters, a narrative that’s light on angst and heartwarming, and a romance that’s the perfect mixture of sweet and sensual make Most Likely to Score a must-read rom-com. It’s a feel-good, slow-burning romance that had me swooning nonstop and grinning from ear to ear. From start to finish, this book provides endless entertainment, making you fall deeper in love with Jillian and Jones with every chapter.

If I could describe Jones and Jillian's relationship in two words, it'd be sizzling and adorable! Seriously, these two know great banter and fantastic flirting.

Since reading Most Valuable Playboy, I've been looking forward to Jones and Jillian's love story. It's obvious that Jones Beckett, the Renegades' wide receiver, has the hots for the team's amazing publicist Jillian Moore, but no one really takes him seriously on it, what with his penchant for sleeping and flirting with models and bombshells. Jillian definitely doesn't think too much of it.

Even if it were serious, nothing could really come of it, since Jillian was dedicated to her job and would do nothing to jeopardize her career and lose the respect of the team. Besides, they're going to work together to help rehabilitate his image, so Jones has to be on his best behavior. He needs to shed that playboy, wild-child image, and sleeping with his publicist would defeat the purpose.

Jones is like that charming guy in class who's popular, handsome, funny, and nice. Seems too good to be true, but people like him exist. He had a penchant for sleeping around, but he's not obnoxious, rude, or proud. He's an all-around guy—close to his family, still grounded, loves animals, good with the handy stuff heh—who's been interested in Jillian for a long time but didn't know what to do about it.

I admire Jillian's passion to her job, her relationship with her parents, and her self-control. Seriously, you guys. If someone like Jones threw himself (and his towel) at me the way he did to Jillian, I would have cracked. I also loved reading about her background, and about the things that have always been a part of her even if she grew up away from it. I won't mention too much about it since it might spoil you a little.

This book made me smile so much because first of all, it's a friends to lovers kind of story. Jones and Jillian got along, and they had fun together, even if Jillian was a bit closed off from him at first (to maintain the professional distance, of course). Second, it was adorable how much Jonas adored Jillian. Not just in a sexual way, too. And third, I loved how close they were to their respective families, how it drove them to do what they're doing

There are dogs and other adorable furry friends, half naked photoshoots, walks in the beach, and some hot tumble in the sheets—among other places *wink wink*—plus an easy and effortless banter between two likable characters. This book will make you laugh, squeal, and sigh like a lovesick fool, so if you want that wrapped up in a sports romance, you'll love Most Likely to Score.

Tropes: Friends to Lovers, Forbidden Romance, Sports—Football
POV: First Person, Second POV

What a book to kick the year off with!
This one was slightly different, and I can't put my finger on why this is so. Not to say it was bad in any way because I think it was that delicious slow burn feel, which I love, that we don't normally get from this author. Of course, there is plenty of wit and humor that is expected and it is told in dual POV.

I personally prefer to read a book where the hero is NOT an alpha jerk and being all demanding. There is something sexy to be said when a guy has a vulnerable side. This is Jones Beckett! He is certainly flirtatious and charming in a big way. He is also a family man that would drop everything to help them (not the football though!) and I love that quality. Jones had never been in love, so it took him on a ride that was sensational and to watch him recognise what this feeling was in the pit of his stomach was endearing. Jillian Moore is just as captivating. She is driven, classy, relentless, extremely professional and passionate. Her love of family was something that captured Jones heart early and when they spent more alone time together, they discovered more traits that they had in common, honesty and integrity being high on their list.

When you are a young dude, being called a "player" is something to be chuffed about. Although it can come back and bite you on the butt later when are looking for endorsement deals. Turning his reputation around, showing the public what Jones is really like is a job that Jillian is remarkably qualified for. Being a couple would jeopardise his latest deal and her upcoming promotion but working together has temptations that is hard to resist. The feelings and reactions they go through while trying to do what is best for the other is alluring.

I am most grateful for the early copy that was provided by the author for an honest review.

5 Cherry Pie CROWNS

If I had to sum up Most Likely to Score in one word it would be charming! Everything from the characters to their romantic journey is enchanting, and I couldn’t put it down.

One of the many reasons this story is captivating is the character of Jones! I loved him in Most Valuable Playboy, and my adoration of this man only grew by leaps and bounds during Most Likely to Score. He has the athletic build we have come to expect from our romantic heroes, and he has the stamina and skills in the bedroom to score in and out of the bedroom. What I really enjoy about about his character, though, is his heart. From his dedication to his family, his interactions with his dog, his willingness to give to those in need exemplify that he is more than just a pretty athlete. What is really going to make readers swoon, though, is how he treat Jillian. The dual point-of-view of the story allows readers to see his true feelings. We see how much he wants her, the moment when he realizes it’s more, and the moment he realizes what really matters in life. Each time he expresses these feelings, I fell harder for this hero. The combination of heart, humor, and heat is enough to have me fawning all over Jones.

Jillian is another fantastic heroine from Ms. Blakely. Like Jones, we get to see multiple layers to this woman. She is the business PR woman, she is the devoted daughter, and she is the woman longing to be loved by the man she is enamored with. She tries desperately to balance her feelings with her responsibilities, making her relatable and respectable. Plus, she has this dirty side in the bedroom I never expected but loved! I also love how Blakey introduces parts of her heritage into her characterization. It lends authenticity to Jillian’s character while also teaching readers a bit about a culture (I certainly learned a bit more). Readers will truly love that she is grounded but still adheres to the idea of finding someone and something to be passionate about in life.

From the beginning of Most Likely to Score, Lauren Blakely enthralls readers with the banter and sexual tension between Jones and Jillian. The dual point-of-view allows readers to see how attracted they are to one another, showing us it is more than sexual, and the conversation gives readers the flirty banter we have come to love from the author. The progression of their relationship from friends/coworkers to more is relatively slow, but the chemistry between the two is more than enough to hold reader attention. Also, Lauren Blakely makes the pay off more than worth it when they are finally truthful and succumb to their desires. What really makes me love this story is the conflict. It isn’t the standard forbidden romance trope, and the way Jones and Jillian deal with the forbidden aspect of their relationship is refreshing. While the conflict is introduced and resolved quickly, it is incredibly authentic. Blakely sets the conflict up with the characterization, and the reactions from the characters is perfect. The moment of realization that leads to the resolution is ideal, and the epilogue had me swooning HARD!

Lauren Blakey delivers another must read! I absolutely love every single moment of this story. The characters are charming. The story is hilarious and steamy. I couldn’t get enough of Jones and Jillian, and I suspect that there is only more good things to come from this series!

Most Likely to Score by Lauren Blakely
Another feel-good curl up on a cold night masterpiece by Lauren Blakely. We love her unique writing style with our beloved characters providing their point of view on their secret crush. Crush would be an understatement but you get the jest.
We get to meet Jones who is a successful star receiver for a winning NFL team (San Francisco Renegades). He is also known for his escapades with many different women. Guess what? He wants to turn over a new leaf this season and be a good boy. Now where is the fun in that?
Next we have Jillian Moore. Successful PR person for…..wait for it…..the San Francisco Renegades. She is a strong, young, independent and a no-nonsense girl who isn’t looking for a relationship. Especially with a player. She has her eyes set on a promotion and doesn’t want to jeopardize with some fling.
This book was so much fun to read and listen to our character’s squirm when they are in each other’s company. Both don’t want to jeopardize their futures but they can’t help how they feel when they are in the same place. Now let throw this wrinkle in………Jillian decides to put together a photoshoot for Jones that depicts him with animals up for adoption at shelters across the country. How will she be able to handle working with him on such a personal project? Good question. You are going to have to read to find out.
If you are looking for a fun, feel-good story that will have you chuckling frequently then this book is for you. It did wonders for this reader when it was -22 degrees outside and I wanted to hibernate. Jones will have you fanning yourself and dreaming about hunky football players that have a heart of gold while wishing you were Jillian. Sigh….that is why I continue to read these books.

It’s the trifecta of a love story!! Football, HOT swoon-worthy alpha-male, and hot steamy love scenes between the sheets, what more could a girl ask for? Jones is a playboy wide receiver for a local NFL team looking to reform his womanizing ways. Jillian, is the smart, sassy, intelligent, and strong publicist for Jones’s team. Both Jillian and Jones see their romance as forbidden. But, is it really forbidden when the one person you really fall for is the one you want to spend your entire life with? Jones and Jillian end up spending most of the off-season working closely together to create a calendar for charity to benefit pet rescue facilities. Jones agrees to pose with rescue animals (both dogs and cats) to show a softer side to help rebuild his reputation. During this off-season both Jillian and Jones learn so much more about each other and end up learning that they like each other way, way more than anticipated. Like many recent Lauren Blakely books either a cat or dog will be snagging your attention with their antics. With Most Likely to Score you will find both. Cletus is a 10 lb chihuahua that has been trained by Jones to run doggie obstacle courses. Smoky is a orange and white kitten who posed with Jones for the charity calendar. Lauren Blakely writes strong heroes and heroines with lots of steam between the sheets. Lauren has a great talent to take you to a whole other world with well developed characters that face the challenge of falling in love sometimes with grace and sometimes they take they long way to realizing just what they want out of life. Completely and whole-heartedly recommend this Lauren Blakely book. Yes, this is a sports themed romance but you do not have to like football to enjoy the sweet and beautiful love story of Jillian and Jones.

I really, truly loved this story about NFL Renegades star player, Jones Beckett and the team publicist, Jillian Moore. Jones has been secretly attracted to Jillian ever since he first laid eyes on her when he started playing with the Renegades, but she acted unimpressed and disinterested. Nothing came of his interest and he moved on to other women, quickly earning himself a reputation as a good-time guy and a player, but Jillian always held a place in his heart even when he didn’t know it himself.
Jillian had noticed Jones when he first came to the Renegades, her attraction to him was kept under wraps as she didn’t want it to interfere with her job. She takes her work seriously and is always trying to find ways to make the team look good. She wants to do a calendar shoot for animal charities and her boss suggest that Jones would be the perfect model.
Being forced to work together finally gives them the chance to get to know one another properly and as time passess, Jillian realizes she was wrong about Jones. Yes, he’s a lady-killer, and a huge flirt, but he also has a huge heart a well as those BIG hands.
I really adored all things Jones. He was sexy as sin, but fun and flirty too, it’s no wonder Jillian finds him so tempting. So, when she gives in, she is all in. Heart and soul.
There isn’t a tremendous amount of angst in this story, it just all boiled down to belief and conviction. Of knowing what you to do over what you should do.
I’m looking forward to maybe getting some more stories from this series. Harlan needs one for sure. Trevor too.
I thoroughly recommend this book to Lauren Blakely fans, new and old.

What a way to start my reading for 2018?!

I just met my new favorite Blakely beau!! This story is a jam-packed combo of forbidden work place and friends to lovers romance.

I love the teasing, almost over the line, banter between Jillian and Jones. From seeing them in Most Valuable Playboy to their full-blown love affair in Most Likely to Score.

I was absolutely glued to this story. From the banter to the instant chemistry on so many levels.

Jillian is positively fantastic. I loved that some diversity was brought into the story but didn't oversell her Asian culture since she was adopted. It was written very well, little nuggets of luck and fortune and living with integrity. Her life is all about image and loving the one man she can't have could ruin it all.

Jones is one of the most swoon-worthy men I've ever read. From his love for all things furry and domestic, to his strong family values. And he's certainly not just some dumb jock, like people think athletes can be. He's so multidimensional.

LB definitely scored with this one!!

Most Likely to Score is a standalone novel by one of my favorite all-time authors, Lauren Blakely. I have read every single word she has ever written and have loved them all. If you read Most Valuable Playboy then you should remember the flirty receiver of the Renegades, Jones Beckett and his favorite team publicist, Jillian Moore. Well, this is their forbidden romance...

Jones needs to clean up his reputation. Jillian needs a man to pose with puppies for a charity calendar. The camera happens to love Jones and he happens to love puppies and kittens. This is exactly what he needs to show the world who he really is. A man with not only big hands but a man with a even bigger heart. He also happens to have other parts to him but those are the parts that Jillian has been trying to avoid. Her motto isn’t “don’t look down” because she hates feet. She is all professional with the flirty, sexy as sin man but out of the office...that’s a different story. She has been crushing on him for years. And when that crush becomes a reality one night in Miami, she wants more. More of him. All of him. But, they can’t go there. Not only is his rep on the line but so is hers.

They have to keep this professional. He needs these deals to keep him on track and to help his family. She helped him land the deals and needs to stay on task. It’s her career and she damn good at it. They both know this but what if they took the risk? What if this is more than a fling? What if this is what love stories are about. Pushing boundaries. The out of control lust for the other. The deep connection that makes your heart flutter. Seeing the real person and not the image of the person everyone else sees. Is that love worth the risk of losing what you have worked hard for in the past? This is what Jillian and Jones have to ask themselves during the months of hiding their feelings. The feelings they have been hiding from even themselves. Will they take that risk? Is Jones the man Jillian wants to spend a lifetimes falling asleep on?

Wow! Lauren has done it again! She has given us another Blakely Man that made me swoon, cry, and tingle. Jones loves animals, cherries, and hot showers. I mean...hot showers. He has the perfect blend of cockiness, humor, sweetness, filthiness, and heart to make my heart feel full. Jillian is one lucky girl, but Jones is also one lucky man for having her. She is beautiful inside and out, passionate, and giving. Together, they are one amazing couple that I was happy to watch from the sidelines. The heat. The heart. The laughs. The forbidden. I loved it all.

Overall...if you love a forbidden romance with swoon, animals, and luck then you have to read this book! It’s a fast read that will make you want to go out an adopt a new pet. It will also make you want to make a cherry pie. And it will also make you want to take a cold shower if you don’t have the option of some playtime with your man, woman, or BOB.

P.S. I loved seeing Jess!

Quotes:

“You’d be donating your time freely.”
“Puppies, Jillian. Puppies.” I smile.
“There will be kittens, too.”
“Meow,” he says, brandishing his hands as claws.

“I want you tonight. I want all of you.”

Jones makes me feel like all my sexy songs. He makes me laugh. He makes me think. He challenges me. And he gives me so much of himself.

Overall it was a cute book I guess.

Two things I loved about the story:
- the h was adopted from China and had amazing parents (my respect to the author)
- love and support for animals

As to the romance part I wasn't convinced. They knew each other for years, he lusted after her for years, but it didn't stop him from 'enjoying' OWs. Thanks God the h dated, but they played 2 huge clichés: her ex cheated on her and her good-looking male friend was a gay (the one H got jealous of). Of course she didn't date for over a year after her ex and of course she had a big crush on the H from the 1st time she met him 😴
It's not that he was a bad guy (they tried hard to smooth his character with love for his family and animals), but I can hardly image a decent woman, who would lust after a man, whose pics with many different 'babes' were spread all over the web incl. him sleeping in OW's bed 😖

Her lack of self-confidence bothered me a lot. Why can't an Asian woman be a love-interest of a handsome man (even if he 'dated blond models')? All women are beautiful! She downplayed herself.

If not for the chapters from her POV with hormones overruling the brains, I would call her cool. She kept her poker face for a certain time, no doubt, but the 1st time she was intimate with the H, she confessed her long crush on him, begged him 😖 and repeatedly told him how beautiful he was. So NOT my reading preference... 😩

The ending was a bit messy, but cute... I guess.

No OP in the book, but some flashbacks about his past.
As I said, he was a good guy in general, I just don't get off on narcissistic men. It wasn't ott, but still: my hands are big, I'm so handsome etc. Fortunately not to the level he installed mirrors over his bed and in bathroom, but pretty close 🐴
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I absolutely loved this story and I must say this is almost like the old stories that Lauren Blakely wrote. They sparked my love for reading once more and to start the year off with another great, passion filled book was such a joy. It flowed and kept me hooked with the want of knowing how this story would finish.

Jones was a brilliant led character and although a womanizing idiot, he was only that to play the part. On the inside, he was loving, compassionate and family was his main passion apart from playing ball. And of course Cletus.

Jillian was also a great character, whom came from nothing and with the love of her parents built her life on strong values and a little luck. She was a tough cookie who took no nonsense and got things done in a male dominated world.  When these two characters fight the draw the have for each other, it's not pretty and when they do yield the fireworks fly.

This book is brilliant and a complete easy read that leaves you happy and wanting. Another must read and the first I will recommend for this year.

5 Snuck Up On Me Stars
* * * * * Spoiler Free-Quick Before You Miss It, 99CENTS!!!
Have you ever planned on reading a book with a certain expectation in mind... You think you know what to you are going to get and are happy being involved for a couple of hours with something other than your job, state of affairs or whatever is going on in your life..Well, that was what I expected when I opened Lauren Blakely's latest book, Most Likely To Score...And like my title says, this book snuck up on me big time.

It had all the trappings of a fun, flirty read Blakely is known for... all the Delicious, Sexual Double Entendres right from the start creating just the right mood to settle in and allow the characters to show who they are and what was in store.

We have the Football Player known for his Big Hands...and trying to rehab his image after having a bad run of luck with publicity and a thieving manager. This is matched with a sharp and savvy woman who is the team's PR person.

Both have an interest in each other but haven't acted on it.

Jillian Moore has a good reason...
He is a player on her team...
And seems to be a player off the field too...
Also, he goes for Blond, Busty, and Model...
She is nothing like that...

Jones Beckett has been trying to catch Jillian's attention from the start...
He has been captivated by this smart, quick-witted woman with a smile he wishes was just for him. As much as he tries to make her professional facade crack with dropped towels or discussion of how big his hands are... she keeps her eyes directly up to his and never wanders...

Jones has changed over time. His manager's theft was a huge wake-up call. Jones was smeared by the same tainted brush making people forget he was victimized by this guy, too. Instead, Jones has been keeping away from all of the usual situations a football player is presented...Times that can be caught on a photo to be plastered all over social media...

An opportunity presents itself to Jones through his new agent. He has an up and coming organic pet food interested in him and his pooch. Jones has a rescue pup he has taught to do obstacle courses and is a big presence on Jones' Instagram and other social media. Jones agrees to have Cletus try the food and if it is a go, negotiations will happen.

Jillian is on the fast track with her career. She is the product of a loving family. An Asian child adopted and raised to embrace who she is. Having two parents who gave her the security to be strong, focused and feel loved. Her mother relished her own career and taught Jillian to find satisfaction in a job well done... to find self-worth on her own, not through others.

Jillian has but at the same time has the same insecurities one can have when a boyfriend cheats... when he thinks what he has done is just the way of the world and they should still be "friends". It doesn't help she has to deal with him through her work. She thinks it is her lousy judgment of men which causes Jillian to feel there could never be anything with Jones...Plus there is the complication of their being part of the same organization.

Things become interesting is when this couple is chosen to work together on a Calendar and Jillian is to do the publicity for the pet company. It is through all of this time together, Jillian's assumptions of Jones start to slip away. She sees the man for who he truly is... a product of his parents and siblings.

He is one of the good guys. Respectful, Caring and He Listens... No, actually he hears what she is saying...

Jones is so taken with Jillian, he doesn't know what to do... But he knows not to push or force anything. These two learn about each other over the calendar shoot and what they both feel rings true...They both know they are playing with fire... but this match is getting to hard not to strike...

And in True Lauren Blakely Form, the fire that burns between these two could have been the trigger to all the recent flames ... Blakely comes up with fantasies so hot you will need a backup Kindle because the one you are using risks shorting out!

And here was the kicker for me with this read. I had gone into this thinking it would be a lovely little joyride and that would be fun a 4/4.5...But as this tale went on with all the details and insight to these people...I was so taken with the depth of feeling I was having... Here I was thinking about how fame can be so complicated and how a random moment could kill a career... or how with all of the perks of being a sports figure it can all end in a heartbeat on the field.

I caught myself thinking about how difficult it is for women to be able to do the jobs they love, especially in such a male-driven industry. I was also taken down the road of family bonds and how these two characters were blessed with the support of parents who were there for them and understood who exactly who they were... and loved them unconditionally.

And the best about this book was all of these details flowed naturally in the story... they just happened and to me, never felt forced... and that happens to highlight exactly the talent Blakely has...She can take a story that has basic elements and make them special before you realize what she has done. Her books have everything we all want; sexy men, strong women and a story to take us out of our everyday lives...But She Does Much More...She gives us heart and hope and that is so very special.

This new group of Football books hopefully will have another one coming... I would lay odds on it...Think Harlen and Katie, Hint hint.

My Gift came early!!!
Love opening my Kindle to see the surprise, Thank you!

5 'Lucky together' Stars!
ARC provided by the author via Ink Slinger PR in exchange for an honest review.

Well, this is the perfect way to start the new year, that is for sure! I just realized this is the second year in a row that my first read is by Lauren Blakely and if you have read her books before, you’ll understand why. I love everything this woman writes and since my first book by hers I haven’t stopped reading everything she releases! Imagine my excitement when she announced we were having more stories of the characters we met in Most Valuable Playboy, especially this one (because she teased us about Jones and Jillian so much!).

So, Most Likely to Score can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading Most Valuable Playboy first because there you will fall in love with all these people Lauren created! This is a sports romance with a forbidden element to it that will not leave you indifferent. Jones Beckett is the sexy famous receiver of the Renegates and from his very first meeting with the sassy PR expert Jillian Moore, he hasn’t stopped flirting and trying to seduce her. Jillian loves her job, she wants a promotion and she is a very professional woman so she is decided to avoid what she feels for Jones. Jones is also afraid of what would happen to his beloved career if he let himself be with Jillian. But sparks and chemistry cannot be stopped between these two!

It feels like a line in the sand.
A line I shouldn’t cross.
It marks the before and after. But I want to know what comes next. I want to venture into this dangerous territory.

I ADORED THIS BOOK. ADORED. IT. What better way than to start 2018 than with a brilliant sexy romcom by one of my absolute favorite authors, am I right?! Of course, Lauren Blakely is also killing it with the sports! How can she not since she is good at everything? Most Likely to Score is a hilarious, sexual tension filled and beautiful love story. Jones and Jillian stole my heart on the very first page and they will steal yours too! Their chemistry is obvious and amazing and even though they try to fight against it, the sparks are stronger than everything else!

“I know you’re beautiful, I know you’re smart as a whip, but I want them to look at you and feel like they can’t have you.” [...] “Because you’re mine.”

In my opinion, Lauren is the queen of sexy romcoms. And she is also the queen of sexual tension because HOLY HELL. This woman knows how to write the sexy times like nobody else! As I said, Jones has been dying to get his glorious hands on Jillian and Jillian has tried (but failed) to hide her massive crush on him. Well when they leave all that aside and they start acting on what they feel, they will make you burn with their chemistry! Their connection is absolutely mind-blowing and being such great characters (both of them), imagine how good it is when they become a couple and they fall in love. I am so in love with these two and their love story!

How could a man be worth it? Is it even possible that this feeling in my chest—this sense of champagne and wonder when he’s nearby—is worth gambling what I’ve worked so hard for?

And talking about characters, that is a fantastic list of secondary ones, man! I loved seeing Cooper again, I loved the families that brought up this amazing couple and all the other boys in the team too. I do hope Lauren does not stop writing about these characters because they definitely stole my heart with Most Valuable Playboy and Most Likely to Score. Lauren never fails to amaze me with her magic writing and the couples she creates. Jones and Jillian just became another one of my favorite couples by hers and I am sure you will love them too!

I’ve learned the best way to rehab a reputation is to be a good guy and to fall in love with a woman who makes you want to be even better.

Therefore, I am rating Most Likely to Score with 5 STARS because I loved absolutely everything about this novel: the storyline, the characters, the funny and sexy moments and the beautiful and oh-so-hot chemistry between the couple. Jones and Jillian are so perfect for each other and I can’t wait for you all to meet them because they are such a wonderful couple. This year is starting great for me and I love it! So, of course, I highly recommend reading this book!

Signature Lauren Blakely!! Most Likely to Score is fun, flirty, and sweet! Jillian and Jones are both amazing characters. They're determined to be the best of the best. She's driven to succeed as a publicist and he's riding the wave of being one of the best players in the NFL. But what matters most? Being at the top of your field or being with the one you love?

That's the basic premise of the story. I've oversimplified, of course, but I like that these two characters have life goals and aspirations. I enjoyed learning what drives and motivates them. They're very different in that regard, but both backstories are meaningful. I absolutely loved the diversity of the heroine. It played a major role throughout the story and was very refreshing!

As I stated before, this was signature Lauren Blakely. When you pick up one of her books, you know you're going to get great writing, an engaging story, and a steamy romance. She delivers, as always, on all three. In this forbidden romance, the reader is allowed to get to know the characters fairly well before things heat up. I actually enjoyed that a lot. The sports theme is pervasive and very well done. It feels really authentic in that regards. Jones and Jillian's fears are significant. But most of all it made me feel. I teared up at the end. Don't ask me why! I'm blaming it on Lauren's fabulous writing and characters. Jones was a man after my own heart and he succeeded in stealing it!
This is a definite win! If you enjoy sports romance or forbidden romance, this is a MUST!

She's the team's publicist and he's a player. She has a strict "no dating" policy yet it all goes out the window. Now, they're both on the same team and topping who can outscore the other while trying to keep their affair a secret. Ahh, the best laid plans... will they both wave the white flag to their growing feelings or is defeat never an option when it comes to love on the gridiron?

Oh man, I totally swooned over this one! I love sports romances and Blakely scored BIG with this one. Jillian and Jones light up the scoreboard while making me hot. Highly recommend!

I could not wait to get my grabby little hands on this book. I mean, come on! Sports Romance? It’s my go-to genre. Lauren Blakely? Can you say, “Auto buy author”? They are two great tastes that taste great together. They go together like Rama lama lama ka dinga da dinga dong. You get the picture.

I don’t know how she does it, but Lauren Blakely excels at writing from the male point of view convincingly and with tons of humor. True to form, Jones’s inner monologues are hi-larious. I loved his cockiness as well as his genuine kindness. I swooned over the big, tough wide receiver’s relationship with his ten-pound adorable dog, Cletus.

Jillian is classy and sassy. Jones’s flirtation game is on point, filled with naughty innuendos. Jillian gives as good as she gets while still being a wickedly savvy publicist. Side note to say thank you, thank you, thank you for writing a main character who is a minority. That’s embarrassingly rare in romance. I loved learning about Jillian’s culture.

The magnetism between Jones and Jillian is wonderful. They are clearly well suited for each other, so the mixed signals and attempts to fight their feelings only make the payoff greater when they finally get their crap together.

There is one major shortcoming, though: the dialogue between Jones and Jillian. It’s oddly repetitive and mundane throughout the second half of the book. She parrots him excessively.
“I need to be with you, baby.”
“I need that, too.”

“You’re like a cherry, and I want to eat you up.”
“I want you to eat me up like a cherry.”

“I need to make love to you.”
“Please. Please make love to me.”
It almost seems like another author wrote some of the dialogue because it sounds nothing like Lauren Blakely’s style.

The forbidden romance angle could have been much stronger, but I still found Most Likely to Score to be a very funny and lively story.

Wide Receiver Jones is known as the fun/party guy in the team. The guy that's in the tabloids with a new girl every week. But he needs to stop that shit. Ever since his old agent took off with all of his clients' money, Jones needs to get a better public reputation - even if he didn't do anything wrong.

Enter Jillian. She's the team's publicist and she's helping Jones trying to look like the good guy that he is. - And he's helping her with a charity calendar.

Both have been in lust/love with the other for years. But they can't start something because it wouldn't look professional. They don't want to lose their jobs. And also both think they're so not the other's type.

But they so are.

And they have to spend A LOT of time together these next few weeks.

Let the fun times begin....

What will happen with Jillian & Jones?
Will there be a HEA?

I just love a romantic comedy written in dual POV!
I LOVE LOVE Lauren's male POV romcoms, but hearing both their thoughts is great too.
And this one was really adorable.

description

So funny and sweet and footbally. With lots of hilarious moments and cute moments and sad & moving moments and adorable animal moments! I just adored Jones & Jillian.

They're so perfect for each other, but because of their jobs they can't or rather shouldn't be together.
But of course they're fighting for that HEA!!!
And I really loved reading about that journey.

Great book. Not too much unnecessary drama - I love that.

It might have been a tiny little bit too sweet and perfect at times. Especially Jones - he comes across as a bit of a too-soft-softie here and there with his understanding and listening and asking about feelings and stuff ...

description

but he's still an amazing guy! Handsome and Hot and lotsa naked most of the time! ☺

And I loved the parents of our darlings - most books these days have horrible parents - I always love it when a book has great ones!

I really enjoyed reading this story!!!!

MOST LIKELY TO SCORE was an amazingly adorable & funny & sweet football romance!! Hurry to your nearest amazon for your own JONES - this one (plus his cute dog) is MINE !!!

Another hit from Blakely! MOST LIKELY TO SCORE is sexxxy! Hop on board the Jones and Jillian train, it’s going to be a steamy ride!!!

I am never disappointed with Blakely’s signature witty filled books. Her main characters are charming and sexy, funny and they always keep me on my toes with their talents and hilarious traits.

Jones and Jillian have chemistry for days. The scene in the shower. Ahem. HOTT. The tension between these two kept me wanting to turn the page and I couldn’t put this book down!

While I feel like Blakely sometimes sticks with what she knows and doesn’t often stray very far from the line, her consistency knows no bounds. I’m always entertained and can guarantee you I’m always laughing. Jones and Jillian are so rich and colourful and they make me want to go out and grab a beer with them!

Another story filled with great humour and fun! Blakely never does let me down when I am looking for something I want to crush on a cold winters day. A light, quick read to warm my toes and my heart.

Thank you for the advanced reader copy of this book that was provided to me so generously by the author.

* 5 Star Touchdown *

Most Likely To Score, Lauren Blakely's latest offering has something for everyone: a sexy professional athlete, a beautiful and powerful PR executive, a forbidden office romance that will make your heart melt.......It's the perfect rom-com and it will have you swooning hard over her latest hero, sexy as sin Jones Beckett. With every Blakely book I read, I fall head over heels in love with the hero. You'd think that these perfect characters she dreams up couldn't get any better but each time I crack open the next book ***BAM*** the newest hero trumps the last one. Jones Beckett most definitely owns me! Blakely is known for her swoony men but Jones takes it to the next level. He's a cocky, confident and sexy athlete but beyond that, he's romantic and has the biggest heart which is on display in the most unexpected ways. He's dedicated to his family and loyal to his teammates but his reputation as a "playa" is about to hinder his future success. Enter Jillian who is tasked with helping to rehab his image as part of her team PR duties. She's a go-getter who gets things done! She's successful and hard working, independent, strong and loyal. What sets her apart from Blakely's other fabulous heroines is what an important role her family and their history has played in her life. I loved her stories about connecting to her heritage through her good luck charms--the connection to her mother was beautiful.

Watching Jones and Jillian interact in Most Valuable Playboy had me completely intrigued. There were sparks there but in Most Likely to Score, those sparks burn brighter and brighter. As Jillian gets to know the "real" Jones beyond just what her job entails her to know, she realizes that he is that diamond in the rough that everyone looks for---the holy grail of men that all women strive to attain---the forbidden fruit in Eve's Garden. And once she has a taste of that forbidden fruit? (Do I really need to answer that??? LOL) And on his end, Jones sees Jillian for the prize that she is and he can't seem to stay away no matter how hard he tries, forbidden relationship be damned.

I loved the development of Jones and Jillian's relationship. It was natural and fun and it was easy to see and feel their connection jump off of the pages. Their sexy times were super sexy and the fact that they are both dirty talkers? Sooooooo H-O-T!!!! We all know that Lauren Blakely writes the greatest love scenes so you can expect the best of the best between these two!

In the world of Blakely's books, she creates primary and secondary characters that readers wish they could be friends with in real life. Aside from Jones and Jillian, I loved getting to know Jones's brother Trevor, Ford, Harlan and Katie (who I hope really get a book next!). And I can't leave out Cletus who most definitely stole the show in his scenes. Most Likely to Score is a standalone story but interconnected with Most Valuable Playboy. You do not need to read Most Valuable Playboy prior to reading this book but please don't miss that one---it was just as incredible!

Most Likely to Score is a definite 5-star touchdown that shouldn't be missed!

Oh wow, what's not to like about this one?

A sexy as hell wide receiver ( Jones Beckett), out to remake his image and drop his 'player' ways..

A smart, attractive, strong woman (Jillian Moore)--publicist for Jones's team, harboring a long standing crush but determined not to be just a notch on his bedpost...

A long professional friendship that suddenly turns hot, hot, hot once they really get to know each other and give in to their desires...

Plenty of sexual tension to go along with a really sweet friendship...

A bit of a taboo romance--she's up for a promotion with the team, he's trying to rehab his tarnished image...how can this possibly work if they're seen together?

Some really smokin' (I mean smokin') hot love scenes...

Not much angst or 'big misunderstandings' …(I really appreciated that). Just two mature, strong, kind individuals finding a way for their romance to work.

What's not to love about these two likable characters?

I loved it.
