This sounds like a fun challenge! Could ROSEMARY & RUE count for both #1 & #4? Has been probably 40 years since I last read HOUSE OF THE SEVEN GABLES. Loved it when I was a kid. I must have been about 10 the first time I read it.
It could count for either, but I wasn't sure what book to use for #4 otherwise. I've already read all of the "Cat and Bones" series and I wasn't sure what other books have a character with a name that would work! Although, I'm sure that there are plenty of them out there, but I'm just not thinking creativly today! As for House of Seven Gables, I've actually never read the book, but it's one that I've had on my shelf for years. So, time to give it a try!
ooooh! This is a tough challenge, but I'm going to try. :)I'm really stretching on the halloween character name, but KITTY = black cat = halloween, right? :)
1. October in title book = The Hunt For Red October
2. Ghost book = A Certain Slant of Light
3. Witch book = No Rest for the Witches
4. Halloween character book = Kitty and the Midnight Hour (kitty = black cat = halloween)
5. Monster book = Kiss of Fury (dragon = monster hehe)
6. Cover with bat book = High Stakes
7. Haunted house book = Ghost of a Chance

I have a feeling this challenge is pandering to me, what with my campaigning for Rosemary and Rue. Lol. I had trouble with the monster category, but I figured werewolves=monsters so I went with Blood Bound. Also, the haunted house one was hard to find and I'm not exactly sure if the book I picked fits but I'll know for sure when I read it!Cool challenge by the way! Thanks for posting it.

Even if you don't technically count vampires or werewolves as monsters, there is a character in Blood Bound that I would DEFINETLY classify as a monster! I'm not sure about the haunted house either, I've never read that book!

I think it may be the tree that is haunted not the house but it is near the house...
I'm 1/7 done. The imps stole the show in my haunted house book. The author, Kate Marsh, is the same author as Katie MacAlister. The part I missed the most in this mystery was the romance that you almost always find in MacAlister's books.1.

2 of 7. The only reason I didn't give my witches book 1 star was because I didn't hate MaryJanice Davidson's story in the anthology. The other stories I struggled making it through. I found them boring :(Edited to add: read 3/7 now. High Stakes -- It was okay. Lots of steamy scenes. Giving it 3.5/5 stars :) I wish it had more humor, though.
I definitely plan on reading the sequel.
1. October in title book = The Hunt For Red October
2. Ghost book = A Certain Slant of Light
4. Halloween character book = Kitty and the Midnight Hour (kitty = black cat = halloween)
5. Monster book = Kiss of Fury (dragon = monster hehe)

I just read A Certain Slant of Light and didn't like it :( I thought it was *so* boring. I think I may be alone in my opinion based on some of the reviews I read, but I would not recommend it...Edited to add: Read my dragon/monster book. It had some fun battles, but overall the couple lacked chemistry and spunk.
1. October in title book = The Hunt For Red October
4. Halloween character book = Kitty and the Midnight Hour (kitty = black cat = halloween)
I finished the challenge. YAY! I don't think I picked good books for this challenge. I didn't end up rating any of them as 5 stars, and I think I usually am a pretty lenient reviewer :(
I hadn't planned on trying out this challenge, but it so happens that a lot of the books I have read this month fit, so here's what I have so far:.1. A book that has October and/or Halloween in the title. Rosemary and Rue(October Daye #1)
2. A book that features a ghost Gil's All Fright Diner
3. A book that features a witch Witches' Bane
4. A book that has a main character whose name has something to do with Halloween
5. A book that features a monster Frostbitten
6. A book that has a picture of pumpkin, bat or haunted house on the cover
7. A book that features a haunted house
