What have you added to your collection recently?
I just got mine today as well. But stupid me, forgot that the total had to be $50 for free shipping, and it was $49.99. Doh! I was in such a hurry to get the Steranko cover I forgot to check.
Anyway, going to start reading it tonight.
Also, just ordered MMW Defenders V5 and Scalped V1 Deluxe.

Months ago I pre-ordered DC's Convergence, which finally came yesterday. With a current 2.70 rating here and almost unanimously bad reviews this may be a purchase I end up regretting.
I picked it up too (Convergence) but haven't read it yet. At least it wasn't to expensive.
Descender TPB by Lemire was really good and so was Sweet Tooth. I read them both around the same time and I think this was my first introduction to Lemire. I'm in for the rest of the ride on both books. :)

Lemire has been pretty weak for me so far. I didn't care much for Sweet Tooth and couldn't finish Trillium. His only sort of good one Ive read was Earth One's Teen Titans, and that was more about the promise of where it could go.
sorry to bother but I'm looking to buy omnibus an ohc only if there not part of a omnibus set. can anyone help me with what is coming out for the next 3 months to the spring of 2016. I do plan on picking up guardians of the galaxy solo omnibus, an amazing spider man 1 an 2 ohc. but I really don't want to by an ohc an then find out there's an omnibus set. if any one has the knowledge. thanks a ton.
ow could any one also give me several great websights to buy these or preorder these as well. thanks have a great day.

I liked Descender better but curious about Sweet Tooth and how it will continue to play out. Sweet Tooth could certainly go down hill and how I walk away feeling about it will certainly depend on how it ends. One of the cruelest things you can do as a writer is write a character you get people to care about and then have a terrible ending for them. Lemire has a young character you feel protective of as the focus of both stories.
Did you finish Sweet Tooth? I hear good things about the ending (no spoilers please).
Descender is much more of a sci-fi book where Sweet Tooth is a post-apocalyptic wasteland survivor sort of a tale.

I've got Descender in the queue to read. Hope it's good. I never made it past volume 1 of Sweet Tooth though.

Hi Daniel and welcome. If you are in the US, the best place to order would be instocktrades.com. Best prices, best packing. Another decent site is cheapgraphicnovels.com. You can order through them directly or through Amazon but the price varies between the two.
If ordering from those two sites, you will need to keep an eye on the release lists for things you want to buy, then start watching those sites to see the book come up. If you want to preorder you will either have to buy off Amazon, which will ship when it is released, or find a local comic store and they can preorder for you.
If you are not in the US, perhaps some of our other members can give you their recommendations. I believe if you scroll through here some other sites have been mentioned.
Good luck and let us know what you buy.

I'm planning on going two whole weeks without ordering anything from IST. The week after next I'll order the Hawkeye omnibus.
Hi Everyone:Been out of touch lately, dealing with a 90 year old father that has been ill.
I have not picked up anything older but managed to get in the following:
Convergence
Shield Omni - Steranko Cover
The Sleeper Omni
Lazarus HC
Southern Bastards HC
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 5 HC
Hope everyone is doing well. I missed talking with all of you.
Sorry to hear your Dad is not feeling well Frank. Hope he starts feeling better soon.
The Sleeper is very well written and it's super intense. I've heard Convergence wasn't great so keep your expectations low on that one. :)

sorry this is random. does anyone know when in the year barnes and nibles has the best sales on ohc an omnibi?????
They usually have a decent sale of some sort around Thanksgiving's Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I want to say last year they had a buy one get one half off.

Maybe someday after the show I'll try the comic book out. I'm really enjoying the show (need to finish off season 5 on Netflix) and I don't want to different versions of the story. :)

I haven't been getting notifications for this group :( Sorry about your dad Frank. Good wishes from me!
Some good buys you got there. Keep going!
It's on the bottom here for my in the reply section whether or not I want notifications when people reply. There may be something somewhere else about how often you get e-mails from Goodreads that drives when the notification turn into e-mails.
There are three books out today on InStockTrades I want to add to my reading list. Multiversity DLX and Prometheus are two I've been anticipating for months. The Hawkeye omnibus brings up the rear, I've heard lots of good things and know Fraction is capable of good writing so I'm going to give it a shot.
The next Image series I'm going to check out by buying the first TPB is Reyn. Some sort of wasteland fantasy with a futuristic twist coming in the second arc that has me curious about it. Anyone checked that one out already?
I have the first complete Bendis Avengers run in standard HC plus Siege on Ebay and I wish someone would buy it so I could spend it all on more books. :)

Not heard of reyn might check it out.
Fraction's Hawkeye Omnibus is already up on IST so I ordered that and also Nemo Heart of Ice by Alan Moore. I'm a big of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and this is an offshoot about Nemo's daughter.
Anybody know of a good place to sell HCs you don't want, other than ebay?

No idea apart from eBay.

Eventually I may take them to a used book story if no one bites. Or I could start the auction really cheap instead of a buy it now. I usually just try to figure out about the least I would take for something and then just go with that price.

If mine don't sell i tend to put on auction at £0.99. Most of the time i make a loss but it's still money coming in.I'm currently selling quite a few. No bites yet. Maybe i should wait till Xmas or January when people are buing.
I used to sell things every once in awhile on ebay and didn't have a problem, but with the changes in rules favoring the buyer, and seemingly more shady people, it' scared me off a little.
Not many OHC and Omnibus but I got prince Vaillant vol 2 by Fantagraphics and a bunch of used Conan TPB (the new Dark Horse serie, I am slowly filling my collection, I have 1-9, 11, 13 and 14 now). Got a lot of Images TPB over the last few months too and a huge shipment of french comics.
The art in Metabarons looks pretty good but the writing does not have great reviews here on Goodreads. Makes me hesitate to spend money on it.
Relstuart wrote: "The art in Metabarons looks pretty good but the writing does not have great reviews here on Goodreads. That should inform you fairly well.

I am thinking of selling my East of West 1-15 issues to finance the purchase of the OHC but not sure I want to go through setting up an e-bay seller account. I am going to check if the local stores will give me 20$ for them ( a similar lot sold for 35$ on ebay this week).

I have The Colossal Conan book and it's fantastic. I'd love to see Dark Horse do some additional collected editions in their Library format. The Red Sonja and Conan crossover story that recently came out looked like it had solid art.
Sadly the Colossal Conan is OOP (out of print). Cover was $150 IIRC and original release prices hovered around $90 (which is what I paid for mine). The book lives up to it's name, it's massive in every way you could measure it. Larger than an omnibus in every dimension. The art is very well presented by this size and the writing is excellent.
Walter Simonson's Ragnarok HC from IDW comes out tomorrow and I'm planning on picking that one up. :)

I've just received my deluxe of southern bastards. Next will be Sixth gun v3
and then invincible ultimate v10.
I already had too many of the TPs when Colossal Conan came out so I didn't go for it.( most of the TPs can be found used in very good conditions for very cheap online too).
yea I bout my shield omnibus an hawkeye omnibus. last week. I really would like to see avengers ohc an omnibus list. I have a lot of them but I don't know what I need left. cant wait to show my collection. I also bought secret wars box set. an am really looking forward to the civil war box set!!!!!!!!!! YALL ROCK!!!!!
I took a stab at putting together a list of oversize Avenger books. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
If I have missing books that ought to be added please comment there and let me know. Thanks!

I'm new, obviously; but I'll just pretend I've been standing in that dark corner over there for several months, and join the discussion already in progress. ;-) I'm still mildly pissed I didn't jump on 'The Colossal Conan' when Amazon was selling it for some ridiculously low price, like 140$(?) CAD. Now it's selling for twice that from the one seller who hasn't realized he can ask more for it. Ah well.
After getting Big Damn Sin City and the Fear Agent Omnibus collections, I think Dark Horse are still putting out big deluxe hardcovers that are as good as they get, at reasonable prices. For comparison, I have the complete 100 Bullets in six deluxe hardcovers. I like those books, but as far as page-stock, page-count, binding, and cover construction, the Fear Agent books are superior in every respect, for the same price. Dark Horse releases 'Absolute' quality books sans slipcase, and asks half the price.
I'm picking 3 books up at the post office today I'm excited about -- The Sixth Gun Deluxe Oversized HC's Volume 1 & 2, and East of West: Year One, Looking forward to getting my hands on those 3. Some recent-ish and notable Over-sized HC arrivals from the past few months or so:
The Humanoids Deluxe Hardcover Omnibus Editions of 'District 14: Season 1' and 'District 14: Season 2'. Beautifully made books, and brilliant storytelling; at 310 and 360 pages they're not Omnibus size for American comics, but that's about right for bande dessinee.
'The Complete Eightball #1-18' , 2-Volume Slipcased Edition, by Dan Clowes. Great publication, especially for newer Clowes fans looking for the best way to experience his pre-David Boring early work. It contains the complete stories for: 'Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron', 'Pussey', 'Ghost World', '20th Century Eightball', 'Caricature'... and more! ;-)
I'm also a classic comics fan, with 14 of the full-color reprints of the 'E.C. Archives', published by Gemstone, taken over by Dark Horse. I've also got 15 of the Warren reprints from Dark Horse, the 'Creepy Archives: Vols. 1-8' and 'Eerie Archives: Vols 1-7'.
I just picked up the Oversized HC Artbook 'Caniff', which matches 'The Complete Terry & The Pirates by Milt Caniff' : Volumes 1-6 - 1934-1946', all by IDW/LoAC.
Then of course, there's this: 'The Complete Little Nemo in Slumberland: 1905-1927', which is 14 x 19-inches and 650 pages. Amazing stuff.
The only thing more exciting is the upcoming 'Prince Valiant: Studio Edition'... 200 pages of Hal Foster's best Prince Valiant Sundays, exact facsimiles of his hand-colored originals or artist proofs like IDW's Artists Editions, somewhere around 16 x 21-inches. It's pricey, but a must-get for me. I love the Fantagraphics hardcovers collecting his run, I've got the first 8, but besides Winsor McCay and Nemo, this is the series that needs a gigantic art showcase.
Wow. That shit went way longer than I thought... again. My apologies for the wall-of-text ramble. <:-P
Welcome Eisnein and thanks for the run down of the books you recently picked up. :)
I have all the Fantagraphic Prince Valiant oversize HCs they are putting out (up to ten with 11 coming in Dec I think). I probably won't jump on the Studio Edition since I'm expecting that material to be collected in the series I'm picking up now (please correct me if that is incorrect).
I've thought about looking into Caniff's Steve Canyon reprints. I have the old novels Grosset and Dunlap put out 50ish years ago and read those as a kid. But, I feel like I am buying (or trying to) so much stuff these days I'm only just keeping up.
I have yet to buy anything from Humanoids. I know some of it gets some great reviews so that may change eventually.
One series I am surprised does not have an oversize print is Tintin. Whenever that gets rectified I will buy in on that effort. There is an HC set out there but there are complaints that it's so small there are details lost that you should be able to see.
I am waiting to see the next Don Rosa boxed set of his Duck work and I will jump on that. :)
I completely agree that the Dark Horse Library Editions are some of the nicest books you can get for so little. I have the Fear Agent books and I will be getting The Goon and the Halo volumes when they come out. I have vol 1 of the Mass Effect book on the way.

Great points; I hear you on the Steve Canyon, and plan on adding them sometime, but... too much, for now. I love the 10 x 14 reprints of Prince Valiant, I just think the level of detail will make it a prime candidate for putting that massive 16" x 21" scale to good use. But it will definitely be made up of pages collected in the archive volumes.
And I couldn't agree more about wanting an oversized, deluxe hardcover version of Tintin reprints. I have all the softcover 8.5 x 11.5 inch albums, and I also think that the considerably smaller hardcover boxed sets are nicely designed, but doing the beautiful ligne Claire art a disservice. I'd also like to see larger hardcover editions of Blake and Mortimer.
I'm not into the Carls Barks and Don Rosa Duck comics, myself -- too many obsessions already -- but I can appreciate that work, and I know those books are some of the most nostalgic and beloved.
Thanks for the welcome. :-)
I was weak this week end and grabbed The Metabarons from my local comic store. This is an undersized edition but it still comes out nicely.A little weird for me to be grabbing translations instead of the french original editions but to be fair Humanoids translated omnibus are exactly the same as their french counterpart in term of quality.( basically Humanoids have been releasing special omnibus for their 40 years of existence at low cost and smaller format and it's the same books in french and in english, aside from the language).
I am in the minority in regard to Jimenez's art and I don't think it requires an oversized page as I am not that big a fan of it.
That's the definition of space opera, right there. The Metabarons is probably Jodorowsky's best SF-Fantasy book, after the stories collected in Total Incal (which looks incredible). His lame humor and apparent lack of knowledge or interest in science can be annoying at times, but the totally unpredictable twists and crazy sex and violence makes it pretty compelling. Juan Gimenez paints some very nice pictures, too... EDIT: though his art isn't my favorite, either. I like it, but it's not as impressive as the art by Moebius, Ladronn, Travis 'Super-slow' Charest, or Das Pastoras, for some reason I can't pin down.
I've been examining The Sixth Gun Deluxe Edition Volumes 1 & 2, and I'm very impressed, both with what I've read so far, and the book's production quality. The 13.5" tall pages really show the art off nicely, the clean bold line-work of Brian Hurtt. It doesn't have the heavy, glossy paper I prefer, but the lighter, matte-stock still holds the colors nicely, and makes the book a bit easier to handle and read. The extras are cool as well -- scripts, covers both finished and rough, layouts -- very nice additions. Thanks to Alistair, and Lono, for the recommendations and the great reviews.
I'm also really, really liking East of West; the paper is the good shit, it's jammed with one of the best 'appendix' sections I've seen, and the art is beautiful.
Also: Peplum, by Blutch, published by Cornelius. French language, undubbed, no subs. ;-) I wish my French was better... I'm a bad Canadian, I guess.

I'll look and see whether I did a list of Avengers, they do have a chunk of work out there.
Anyone here read Wayward? I see the DLX of this Image series is being released today.
