Cait (clickcait) | 480 comments Like you I've got multiple options for some weeks. I like that I can decide what I feel like closer to the actual week that I'll be reading it, plus some books will fit into more than one category so if you don't read it for one, you can go for it in another week.

Good luck with the challenge. :-)

Jenni Kemling | 65 comments I see that you have several for week six. You also have my favorite book of all time The Outsiders! I highly recommend this for your week six pick if you end up being undecided about which you should read. There is also a movie and it is excellent as well if you'd like to watch it when you're finished with the book. The storyline in both is nearly identical. They didn't really change anything when they made the movie! I hope this helped to make your choice!

Biblio Curious (bibliocurious) The Outsiders book and movie have been on my to see/read list for years! I've got to get to it this year :)

Marina | 272 comments I read The Outsiders many years ago, and it's one of the books from my teenage-years I remember the best.
The movie isn't bad either. I mean, Patrick Swayze, Tom Cruise, Ralph Macchio, Rob Lowe, Matt Dillon... What's not to like ;-)

I'm considering reading Mein Kampf, when we get to the books with bad reviews. On one hand I think it might be interesting to hear his thoughts and believes, but then again, I'm not sure I really want to read anything Hitler wrote or even try to understand, what went on in the man's head.

Cait (clickcait) | 480 comments Ooh, that would be an interesting take on the book with bad reviews.

misplacedselchie | 347 comments Mein Kampf is a fascinating book. I read it in high school. Hitler was evil, but he definitely knew his way around words.

How are you coming on Gone With The Wind, Biblio? I am doing very bad, lol

Biblio Curious (bibliocurious) I started GWTW last year. I just finished it a few minutes ago :) It's a great book! I adore her way of meshing her character's goals together. She hides enough of their secret motivations to be interesting.

What do you think of GWTW or MK?

My older brother also read Mein Kampf in high school and was delightfully creeped out by it. That's what put this book on my to-read list for the past few decade or two.

I started reading MK early last year, he's a brilliant writer. Some of his passages complemented The Book Thief so I used it for teaching my high school students. I'm not sure what kind of impact I left on them. The goal of the lesson was to keep the bigger picture in mind. Also, something about good and bed being a little mixed. There isn't 100% pure or evil. I'm not sure if that message came across the right way. But I could see some thinking happening. (Maybe that the teacher is a little crazy?)

Anyway, Hitler's opinions of books and reading sure went against Liesel's (The main character of The Book Thief).

The chilling thing is if Malcom X, Ghandi or a great, positive role model said some of Hitler's words, the effect would be deeply moving and even inspiring. But Hitler's WWII actions are just too evil, so reading his book is every bit as creepy as reading Lolita!

I only got 100 pages or so in, so I've got to read all of it this year. A to-do list challenge is; read a book by someone you disagree with. Hitler would certainly fit this challenge too!!

Biblio Curious (bibliocurious) GWTW took me I think 6 months to read ..... *eye rolling* The middle part around the war dragged for me. The movie drags at that part for me too. Rhett's dialogue seriously made me laugh, complete with laughter and sounds that go with laughter. (Ie. nose snorts)

Marina | 272 comments You make Mein Kampf sound really interesting, so I think I'll stick with it as the book with bad reviews. I'll look forward to sharing thoughts about it!

Will this reply directly to your posting? Is this how discussion boards work? (I'm new to this techie stuff.)

So, Cait, if it works.... That's my plan exactly!! It's so hard to choose just one book. The Goodreads has boosted my reading habits and reading wishlist! I've become seriously addicted to reading lately.

Lots of my books for this challenge are also past reads from other Goodreads Groups. It's like Facebook for reading *happy, nerdish snort*

I have to snoop out your 2015 Reading Challenge List :)
