Hey team! Looking forward to working with all of you and getting to know y'all better through these silly questions! Feel free to start adding to the spreadsheet once you wake up on Saturday.
Hello team! I have about 110 pages left in Sager's Home Before Dark, and a dance class to sit through (in the car) tomorrow morning, so I know where I am starting. I am excited to spend the week reading with all of you!
I'm going to read The Golden Hour until I have just at 100 pages left, so I'll be finishing that book tomorrow.
Feel free to go on the spreadsheet and put in the books you are reading or think you may read. Planning is part of the fun!

Good morning, Fudgesicles! It's Saturday where I am and I'm ready to read. I'm gonna read The Lies of Locke Lamora for question 2. Which bad habits of other people drive you crazy? Lying
Jo, I put mine in the spreadsheet (which is in the message 2 of this post). Not sure I did it right, but I answered, then put the book. Then I made the type lighter because I won't be finished till at least tomorrow or Sunday.
Books don’t “count” till you finish, so while you can pencil something into a category, it’s possible someone else will finish theirs before you. That’s why it’s good to fill it in as a possibility in all the spaces it could count.I’ll hopefully be starting The Book of Longings and The Vanishing Half tomorrow, but I’ll have to think about where they could fit.
Hello Team - I still have over 100 pages left for Recursion so I should be able to complete that tomorrow. I'm planning on listening to an audiobook as well as read a 240 graphic novel and a book of verse that is over 100 pages. The other book I'm planning on reading is Artemis. I imagine the graphic novel and the book of verse will count. The graphic novel is The Handmaid's Tale: The Graphic Novel and the book of verse is Where the Sidewalk Ends. I'm not sure what audiobook I'm going to start. I'll be starting that on Monday
Jo- to me it feels like nothing is happening. With just about 100 pages left- is anything actually going to happen?Joan- Recursion was my favorite book of last year. I love Blake Crouch.
I also just started to listen to The Killer Across the Table. I have it for #3 as what did you want to be when you grow up. The author and narrator of the book is John Douglas, an ex FBI agent and profiler. I went to college in mind to be a FBI agent.
Hi team. I am currently reading Humble Pi: A comedy of maths errors. I am currently not at home, but I will be back tomorrow.
Good morning and happy Saturday, folks!
I would love if you would also answer the questions in the discussion thread (as well as log them on our spreadsheet). I want to hear how you bend and shape the questions!
I'm about to go for a jog and listen to The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row, which I'll probably finish tomorrow or Monday, depending on how much driving and running I do this weekend. I also have around 100 pages left of The Golden Hour, which I hope to finish today.

Good morning...This is my first read-a-thon. I am reading Aunt Bessie Likes (160 pgs left) and will finish this morning. I will then read Hit the Road Jack (454 pgs). Hope to finish by Sunday evening. I understand I need to fit them to a question and then put them on the spread sheet. How do I know which questions are finished and which are not? Do I also post finished books here with the reasoning for each question?
Sorry to be needy but just want to make sure I understand the game. Thanks.
On the spreadsheet, you will input your pages read each day. You can also put the books you plan on reading on there as well. For example, I'm reading The Golden Hour, which fits for a few different questions. I put the title in my column in light blue to show that this book fits in multiple categories but I haven't finished reading it yet.
When I finish reading the book, I'll change the color to black for one of the questions, then go mark DONE in the box at the end of the spreadsheet for that question. That way, everyone knows that this question was complete.
You should also put it in this thread because part of the fun of this one is seeing how we would all answer these questions!
I love that we have so many newbies to our Read-a-Thons in this group! Always happy to answer your questions.

Also, team, for audio, we are counting 1 minute = 1 page for tracking purposes, so don't forget to record your audiobooks towards our page count!
Kelly wrote: "Jo- to me it feels like nothing is happening. With just about 100 pages left- is anything actually going to happen?Joan- Recursion was my favorite book of last year. I love Blake Crouch."
Blake Crouch is definitely one of my favorite authors!!
I got Recursion from Book of the Month club -- it was one of their 5 top books of the year. I'm saving it for the ATY prompt about time though, but it's killing me to wait because I've heard such good things!
Finished Aunt Bessie Likes Saturday morning. 7. What thing do you consider yourself to be very bad at?
I am unbelievably bad at figuring out riddles and Aunt Bessie does exactly that. She is an amateur sleuth in her village on the Isle of Man.
Moving on to The Shadows which did not realize is due to the library in two days. (oops!) I will find somewhere to fit it in the questions soon.
I’m working on Prompt number 11. What outdoor activity do you enjoy. I love to read on the beach ! The book I choose is The Last train to Key West
I'm reading Home by Marilynne Robinson and hope to finish on Sunday. I put it in the spreadsheet for #19something I hate but wish that I loved - gardening! The main characters in the book are always working on their garden. I'm also reading Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? by Jeanette Winterson which I hope to finish later today. It fits #16 favorite hobby - reading of course! The author is greatly influence by literature. It also fits #11 outdoor activities - hiking.
Finished my first book for the Read-A-Thon! Clouds of Witness by Dorothy L. Sayers fits the third prompt, As a child, what did I want to be when I grew up. My insatiable love for Nancy Drew, Trixie Beldon, Encyclopedia Brown and the Three Investigators, all fed my desire to be a detective.
I just finished Recursion and I used it for prompt #40 - What color looks best on you? The version of Recursion that I read has a grey cover and I always gravitate to wearing dark grey because it seems neutral.
So would the grapic novel count towards a book? It is The Handmaid's Tale: The Graphic Novel and it's 240 pages.
I'm currently reading The Escape Room, which I'm hoping to finish off today because it moves pretty quickly (even though I have about 200 pages left).
I’m working on Hiding in Plain Sight: The Invention of Donald Trump and the Erosion of America and might be able to use it for #30?
A graphic novel will count as long as it is 100 pages, Joan.
I just finished The Golden Hour by Beatriz Williams, and I put it for #44, which time of day do you like best. Golden hour is the hour or so before the sun sets, where the lighting is the best for pictures.

Ooh, nice. We have 4 points.I'm reading Crabs in a Barrel
It's a really quick read and I think I'll be done within an hour.
It could work for #1 tattoo, since there are arms on the cover. Or #45 how much does a polar bear weigh? About the same as a million crabs in a barrel or something. Lol. 😅
Hope everyone had a good Saturday! I just stayed up and finished Sager's Home Before Dark. I am on my phone, so I can't update the spreadsheet. I can do it tomorrow, or if someone wants to do it for me, that would be awesome. I have read 107 pages. I am going to count it for #24 if it is still available. Last night I woke up with a wicked dream about staying in a weird house with lots of rooms and getting bad news. It was horrible. The worst was I woke up almost at 4:54 am, which is the time in the book Ewan gets woken up all the time. Time for a new book.
I listened to some of my audiobook too, but I will just add that on to Sunday's total!
I finished The Escape Room today (Saturday), and I've put it down for "What social event do you hate the most?" because the book is based on a corporate team-building activity, and I hate having to do team-building activities at work!
Kelly, I'll update the spreadsheet for you. :) What a creepy dream!Rachel, I laughed when I read what you hated. This is such a fun way to learn more about each other.
I finished Hiding in Plain Sight: The Invention of Donald Trump and the Erosion of America, and although it’s a stretch to say DT is a “popular trend”, I added it for question 30. I’m going to start Doomsday Book today, and since it is about time travel, maybe I can use it for question 31?
I’m also listening to The Vanishing Half, not sure where that fits yet.
I just finished prompt #1 Which body part would you choose to get a tattoo on ?If I had a tattoo it would be on the back of neck. The book I choose is The Tattooist Aushwitz.
Starting prompt #42 Choose your age forever, what age would you choose and why? I would choose 40 ! What a great age ! I choose The Dilemma . The main character is turning 40 .
Go Fudge icicles
I finished Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? by Jeanette Winterson for #16, favorite hobby. My favorite hobby is reading, of course. Winterson references reading a books throughout her fantastic memoir.
I completed The Handmaid's Tale: The Graphic Novel and I used it for prompt #8 - What is your favorite TV show. I loved the first season of this. I haven't been able to watch the second or third season. Something with Hulu it kept freezing on me but I decided I want to read The Testaments before I watch the other seasons.
I finished Guests and Guilt yesterday. I put it in the #5 What was your favorite Halloween costume? Ghosts. The aunt in the story is a ghost. Fun cozy mystery. Needed the title for a prompt with an "X" author. Now to finish The Shadows, hopefully today.
Look at us go! We are killing this game!
I just finished The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row and put it down for #36 - How do you like to spend a rainy day? I'm going with both wishing for the sun to shine, and also reading (the author started a book club while he was on death row).

I finished Twelth Night by Shakespeare on audio. I put it for #20 What is something you think is beautiful? I think the sea is beautiful and much of the book is set on the Adriatic Sea.
It's a quiet day today! Hopefully everyone is off reading (I know I am).
Just a reminder to update your page counts!

Way to go, Team Fudgesicles! Looks like we'll finish the first round in no time.I'm more than halfway through Bone Talk and will finish within the day. I don't usually read this fast but this game has got me inspired.
I’m about 1/3 of the way through The Poisoned Glass by Kimberly Tilley and as pondering whether I could use it for the “What’s your favorite part of a county fair?” My favorite part are the blue ribbon animals and the victim in this true crime story worked in a ribbon mill.

There Are No Wrong Answers, Only Silly Questions
This read-a-thon’s team challenge is all about getting to know each other better through some silly questions and creative book choices. Your goal as a team is to accumulate as many points as possible because everyone loves points.
Read a book as an answer to each question. 1 book completed = 1 point earned.
Your book could be the answer to the question by the title, by using something on the cover, based on the plot or themes of the book, based on the author’s name, etc. We encourage you to be creative! Tell your team your answer and how your book fits. We can all read more and get to know each other a bit better. If your team ‘answers’ every question on the list, you can start on a second round where each book is worth 2 points.
You have the ability to earn 4 Wild Cards throughout the game for pages read as a group. You earn a wildcard at 2000 pages total, 5000 pages total, 10000 pages total, and 15000 pages total! Make sure you are recording your pages read on your group spreadsheet.
THE RULES
1. Books need to be 100+ pages to count, or have at least 100 pages left for books already in progress at the start of the read-a-thon.
2. Each question can only be answered once until the whole set is completed at which point you can start in on round 2.
3. Be sure to tell your group how your book fits. We want to know what vegetable you would be and it’s not always obvious that a book is about the owner of a pickle boutique.
4. Have fun and play nice! This challenge is about reading more, working together, and having a good time. Lets keep the easy-going, helpful, considerate vibe our group is well known for along with the spirit of competition. :)
