Readathon #11: June 12th → June 21st

(thinking about Slay by Brittney Morris which I am DYING to read)

I'm excited!

I've been in the process of rearranging my TBR to prioritize books by Black and/or LGBTQ+ authors, so I don't have titles picked yet but am definitely happy to join the readathon!
✔ Running With Lions (Black author & LGBTQ+ rep)
✔ Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race (Black author)
✔ Radio Silence (LGBTQ+ rep, Black biracial rep)

Book by a Black author: Slay
Book with LGBTQIAP+ representation: George

• Once Ghosted, Twice Shy by Alyssa Cole 0/160

• The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas 0/473

Thanks for having me Destiny!

Ooooh I feel honored that you picked this for your first readathon, Mark! :D I don't remember GALCB having any major queer rep, but I'll have to double check because I'm reading the second book right now (Take a Hint, Dani Brown) which features Chloe's sister Dani, and she's bi!

1. LGBTQIAP+

2. Black Author

I'm sure I'll add more as the week goes but these two are definitely happening ♥

I'm still in "finished series that I've started mode" (simple put, I have too much to keep track of in my head right now), so I will most likely not start any new books just for this readathon.
My list:
This is esports (and How to Spell it)
Loom Saga: The Complete Series (One of the main characters is bisexual)
Chaos Reigning
Fae Hunter
Scions of the Black Lotus: Complete Tales of the Floating World (American-born Chinese author, plus some minor LGBTQ+ themes)

However, I would like to try and get a LGTBQIA+ and a book by a black author in, so my TBR will consist of:

Here are the books I'm hoping to read;
1. Radio Silence (This would be a re-read!).
2. The Hate U Give // Monday's Not Coming
I wanted to give myself more options, so I may read all three or maybe not. Either way, I'm sooo excited! This was a great idea <3

Planning on King and the Dragonflies by Kacen Callender and The Remaking of Corbin Wale by Roan Parrish

I'll be reading Slay for the BLM challenge and other than that, I'd like to go through Mortal Engines and continuations (if I enjoy it), Cress, Winter, Every Exquisite Thing, , Learn about Loss, A Deeper Love and Mary Poppins. I can read fast, so I'm positive this is adequate material for ten days, but maybe I get into a slump and don't finish a single one. Let's hope that doesn't happen, though :)
Also, should I mention this readathon in my reviews of these?

Slay (e-book)
You Should See Me in a Crown (audio)
The Black Flamingo (audio)
Children of Virtue and Vengeance (physical)
The Obelisk Gate (physical)
Kingdom of Souls (physical)
Purple Hibiscus (physical)
A Song of Wraiths and Ruin (audio)
The Poet X (audio or e-book)
Dread Nation (audio)
The Black God's Drums (audio)
12 books in 10 days, this going to be hard!

Thank you, friend!! <3 I guess I'll read it and if it's doesn't have queer rep I'll try to sneak in a novella or something ;). I see you also 5-starred Dani Brown, so I'm glad you liked that one, too!

i have no specific goals, but i'd love to average ~100 pages a day, so maybe ~1000 pages for the readathon?

No idea what books I’ll read, but I’ll update once the party starts!

LGBT+ rep: The Mermaid, the Witch & the Sea, by Maggie Tokuda-Hall.
Black Lives Mattier: As Black as Resistance, by Zoe Samudzi & William Anderson.

I'm currently reading The Starless Sea but am also eyeballing my brand new copy of A Song of Wraiths and Ruin.
Starless Sea has LGBTQIA+ and Wraiths and Ruin is by a black author and just made the NYT list!

I'll read Foolish Hearts which has LGBTQ+ rep, and I'll have to find a book by a Black author! UPDATE: I'll read Felix Ever After, that combines both prompts! Can't wait :))
I'll also (hopefully) read The Winter King, Shiver, The Storm Crow, Darkdawn and possibly more :))

omg felix ever after is sooooo good! one of my favourites of the year, so far. hope you love it!

Currently, my reading taste is being dictated by my mood, so rather than posting a TBR here, I’ll just use this space to list the books that I do manage to finish. :D

I don't have a strict TBR for this readathon, and I probably won't meet any of the challenges unless I finish my current reads, which is my goal early on. Especially as I finish placement on Friday so from then on I'll be on uni break pretty much, so hopefully a lot of reading.
Current TBR:
- New Moon
- Siege and Storm
- Mayhem ★★★☆☆
- In the Neighborhood of True
- Boyfriend Material
After I finish Mayhem, I'm hoping to go through my ARCs and find one that hopefully meets a prompt!
12/6:
- No reading because I was absolutely exhausted from finishing placement and life
13/6:
- 104 pages of New Moon
14/6:
- 21% (64 pages) of Mayhem
15/6:
- 17% (52 pages) of Mayhem
16/6:
- Finished Mayhem - 17% (52 pages)
- 5% (16 pages) of In the Neighborhood of True
17/6:
- 53 pages of New Moon
18/6:
- 9% (29 pages) of In the Neighborhood of True
19/6:
- 45 pages of New Moon
20/6:
- 23 pages of New Moon
21/6:
- 58 pages of New Moon
Total pages read: 496
Total books finished: 1

This one is going from 12:00AM (your time) Friday, June 12th, to 11:59PM (your time) Sunday, June 21st. The challenges are...
🌻 read a book with LGBTQIAP+ representation in honor of Pride Month!
🌻 read a book by a Black author in honor of the Black Lives Matter movement, ongoing protests, and countless innocent lives lost.*
* I try to keep things light here, but this is not something I can avoid mentioning. I am a huge supporter of the protests and a strong believer that all lives can't matter until BLACK lives matter. This isn't up for debate and I will not hesitate to act if anyone posts racist responses. I would love to keep this a positive space, though, so let's focus on supporting, respecting, and loving each other, please! ♥ And remember, we wouldn't even have Pride without protests, riots, and brave Black trans women.
You can absolutely combine the challenges, so if you would like to read a book by a Black author with LGBTQIAP+ rep, that would be amazing! And, as always, these challenges are optional and you're free to just read whatever you'd like, though I do hope you'll take this opportunity to show some love to the Black and queer communities. ♥
And that's it! Stepping off my soapbox now — I love you all and I can't wait to see your TBRs! Feel free to post them as soon as you like!
