Mark (markpeters) Well, I have to say I failed miserably at this challenge... I didn't read the books I intended to read for it, and I forgot to track my daily progress (I've never done a readathon before, so this obvious point slipped past me, lol).

BUT, now that I kind of know how it works and what to expect, I'll be ready for the next one. ;)

Thanks for setting up this group, Destiny - you're the best!!

i'm really looking forward to Our Enemies in Blue after seeing u mention it in your review of The End of Policing! i felt like TEoP didn't go quite as in depth as i would've liked it to.

message 161: by hima (new)

hima (hima420) @sarah — ahhh i'm excited for you to pick it up! the end of policing is a good start but isn't nearly as unapologetic as our enemies in blue. plus i think the way it's structured—tackling individual issues rather than interrogating policing as a whole—invites its readers to take a more reformist stance, whereas i like our enemies in blue because its historical analysis is so thorough that (imo) it renders the institution wholly indefensible. i can't wait to see your thoughts!!

Rebecca (books_n_bed) | 2 comments Sorry, I didn’t keep my reading up to date 😬[grimace emoji].
I just finished my second book for this readathon - ‘The Black Flamingo’ by Dean Atta and I LOVED IT ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ [five red hearts] the epilogue had me all tears eyed and everything.
I also finished ‘A Song Of Wraiths And Ruin’ by Roseanne A. Brown, and I really enjoyed it. I will admit that there was something lost by listening to the audio, but since that how I read I’ll have to reread the book and search out interviews and reviews for more background. Even though I felt a bit lost in places I still can’t wait to read about Malik’s and Karina’s adventurers.
