Cat Carstairs Hi bookworms! I know many of you were excited for the Reading Twins challenge that was supposed to be held last May, but since then our first mod Blakely has been MIA. So, we've decided to hold the Reading Twins challenge for the rest of summer, up until August! Sign up for the challenge here (and I'll include what Blakely wrote on the last post):

I'll pair you up using the following questions:
- What are your favorite genres?
- Do you have any other preferences?

So once the mods have decided the pairs for the reading twins, your goal is to read as many books together based off of the prompts we give you. Message either me, Shayna, or Natalie with any questions! :)

We're trying to get a couple more people to sign up, and then the teams will be ready!

message 17: by margot (new)

margot (margotwehrle) | 3 comments This might be a really stupid question, but is there some kind of form or something we have to fill out to "sign up", or do u just comment here with yr favourite genres?

message 18: by Cat (new)

Cat Carstairs @Maggie no it's not a stupid question! :) Just comment here with your favorite genres!

They will be announced on Wednesday, July 1! Thank you guys for being so patient. Now we have just about the amount of sign-ups needed! Get ready to READ! :)

message 25: by Cat (new)

Cat Carstairs Breslynn wrote: "it's July 3! Have you announced them yet?"

Ahh, I'm so late. Thank you for the reminder, Breslynn! They should be up by next week, for sure. :)

message 26: by Cat (last edited Jul 06, 2020 02:29PM) (new)

Cat Carstairs Hi everyone! Forgive me for being late, but at last I have decided the reading twins!! Here are your teams:

-Aria & Rye-
-Lucy Tonks & Srujan-
-Lizzy & Cosmo-
-Adela & Tora-
-Breslynn & Lilly-
-Maggie & Elizabeth-
-Kaitlyn & Ashton-
-Ruthie & Huma-

These are your partners until the challenge ends, which will be on Friday, August 7. The challenge officially starts today, July 6, but for those in differing time zones, the challenge will end exactly one month after tomorrow. Here are your rules:

-you cannot use the same book for multiple prompts (for example, if a certain book covers more than one prompt, it can only be used to complete one)

-update your progress under this discussion **(NOTE: PLEASE ONLY UPDATE IN THE SAME BOX!!! For example, you can go back to your post and in the bottom right corner you can click edit and add the next book you've read).** You and your partner only need one box, so only one of you will update your progress. Make sure to talk over who will be the one updating here!

-give an explanation as to how the book completed the prompt (i.e, reading The Lightning Thief for a book with green on the cover)

-both of you need to have read the book together. When you update your progress, add in that you are participating in the Reading Twins Summer Challenge and that you are buddy reading with your partner! Try to read at the same pace, and if your partner is slower than you, you must wait to start the next prompt. This is a partner competition, after all! :D

-for now there is only 15 prompts, but we will post more once a team has surpassed reading that many books. **You do not have to complete the prompts in order!**

-The team who has completed the most prompts together by the time the challenge is over will be declared the WINNER!!! The prize will be a shoutout from all of the mods in this group to the both of you, and if you want your Instagram and/or other social media platforms to be followed, we'll shout out that for you too. :)

-if you are having any problems with your partner (i.e, they're not active online) just ask either me, Natalie, or Shayna about it. Be nice to each other, considering you're reading buddies!!

-Have fun, and may the odds be ever in your favor!!

Cat Carstairs You don't have to. Just make sure to say which prompt you've completed once you finish it! :)

message 29: by Lucy Tonks (new)

Lucy Tonks (the invisible life of a reader) what would be considered as an unpopular/undesirable cover?

message 30: by Lucy Tonks (new)

Lucy Tonks (the invisible life of a reader) does the blue font thing count for the authors name?

message 31: by Cat (new)

Cat Carstairs @Lucy yup- an undesirable cover can be one that's just plain cringey, like Adela said. And yes, blue font can mean the author's name is written in blue :)

message 32: by Cat (new)

Cat Carstairs Awesome!

Any interest in extending the challenge to the end of August? It's still summer after all! Or make it a summer/fall challenge?

message 35: by Lilly S (new)

Lilly S Hey is it too late to get a new partner? My partner can’t do the challenge anymore and now I’m partnerless

message 36: by Cat (new)

Cat Carstairs Lilly wrote: "Hey is it too late to get a new partner? My partner can’t do the challenge anymore and now I’m partnerless"

Hey Lilly! Bresylnn sent me a PM telling me why, so I can try to find a new partner for you if you still want to buddy read with someone in the challenge! I'll send a group broadcast to see if there's anyone still willing to sign up. I'll update you as soon as someone does! :)

message 37: by Lilly S (new)

Lilly S Okay thanks! If you can’t find anyone, I guess I can just do the prompts for fun without a partner

message 38: by Cat (new)
