Britta wrote: "I'm probably going to fly through the rest of Eclipse today. My next book I chose by picking a random task and finding a fitting book for it! Might do that again later as it's a fun challenge."Most of the time that is how I choose a book. Much easier than choosing something from my long list of “to read”. Unless the library gifts me with a bunch of books at once. Which does happen. 😁
Geri, another recommendation for you! And I recommend the audio if you can. (If you check it out on KU, you can get the audio for half price!). I recommend the whole series.
I finished my 2nd book earlier today (and updated spreadsheet).I also added a 6th book, also for "T" and also tagged CREEPY.
:D
I finished another book today "I". I will see where I can place in the tasks....updating spreadsheet

Thanks for pointing that out, Laura, before I ended up reading it! I am so used to the 150 page minimum, I guess. Dang it! I’ll get to it sometime eventually, though. :p
Hey, captains! I have a huge favor to ask - -Do you think you could add a countdown link somewhere (maybe in the info posts on page 1) that tells us how long we have until the end of the round? I dunno about anyone else, but I know that would be super helpful for me, having it somewhere close to us. :p
(& if a countdown to the end of the round is already posted somewhere & I missed it, I apologize!)

Let me see if there's already something made, so I don't have to re-invent the wheel. :)
Hello there windmill tilters!Having just finished The Art of Fielding (a book I can heartily recommend!), I am left in the mood for more sports-themed books, so have come to see if any of you have any recommendations in the genre.
Just to be clear, I'm not looking for a trashy romance that happens to have a sports backdrop (you know the kind I mean...), but the kind that has a sport at its heart. (any sport, I'm open to learning about new ones! lol)
Thanks in advance!
Sammy - Team HP
Sammy, Mariana Zapata’s Kulti is about a female soccer player, and centers around the sport. And From Lukov With Love features two figure skaters. She has several other sports themed ones, but most feature the player rather than the sport.
Greetings from Team Pants! I've come to request recommendations from you all 😊 Lately, I’ve been in the mood for some great nonfiction. Any favourites? I don’t have a genre preference – biography, memoir, history, science are all fine! Thanks in advance!
I just gave Navi a bunch of nonfiction recs, so I guess I will post them here too in case anyone else is interested! :DComing over from Don Quixote again -- this time to answer Navi's call for nonfiction recs!
Here are a few that I have given 5 stars...
...And pretty much anything by Rick Bragg or Mary Roach.
I had already rec'd Just Mercy in my earlier rec post here.
I just watched the movie too -- good, but the book is way better ;D

Thanks, Laura! Hopefully you won’t have to reinvent the wheel for the countdown timer. I did look to see if one was already made, but I couldn’t find one.
I can make one probably & just post the link here for you guys to copy over to wherever you wanna post it. I just didn’t wanna mess up the time zones if I did it.😂

Go for it!
Okay, so I see on the spreadsheet that this round ends on the 26th... I’m assuming it would be 11:59pm London time on the 26th? Since the new round begins the 27th?
Navi wrote: "Greetings from Team Pants! I've come to request recommendations from you all 😊 Lately, I’ve been in the mood for some great nonfiction. Any favourites? I don’t have a genre preference – biography, ..."I highly recommend The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. It’s oddly compelling! Also The Woman Who Smashed Codes: A True Story of Love, Spies, and the Unlikely Heroine who Outwitted America's Enemies is a fascinating look at WWII era counterespionage and the birth of what would one day be the NSA. The code breaking originated with the Coast Guard!
I made a countdown here: ⏱ END of Round 1
I asked over in the Cafe, just to be sure. So if it’s incorrect, I’ll remake & repost. :p
I plan to answer DQs for the Adult July BOM, but unfortunately can't volunteer to write any, as I am tentatively traveling during that time.Luckily, it's The Sun Down Motel, which I've been interested in reading anyway, and it's on at least 2 other teams' rec lists!

Great idea! Thanks for doing this! I think the time usually stays the same throughout the challenge. It will probably end at 10 pm London.

The Sun Down Motel is really good!

I grew up almost entirely in upstate NY, so I am very curious to see how it is depicted in that book :)

Cindee, your book is not showing Adventure on the main page. Did you happen to take a screen shot showing it?
Britta, Eclipse is not currently showing Urban Fantasy on the main page. This is probably one of those genres that hangs on at the end and constantly goes on and off. So if we can get a screen shot of it on there, we can use it.

I plan to read that one, too! I volunteered for DQ’s, so crossing my fingers! I’ve heard a lot of people say they liked that book, too... so I’m looking forward to reading it.

I found another O name in a book. The crazy thing is that in both books the character’s “real” name is the same, Orion. What are the odds? Pretty good, I guess!

Cool. Hopefully the Mods will let everybody know the next round's Spell-Out words a little in advance of the actual deadlines though. (They usually do). It's always nice when it's, like, Wed night and you can start planning ahead for Fri night. :D

Yay! Thank you!
Yes, we usually get a day or two to plan for the next word. I am liking having each round being 2 weeks. It’s a little more laid back for me. I think last time we got a new word every week.I finished my fourth for the week. I didn’t expect it but I found a Z. 😁 I love when that happens! I will add to the spreadsheet later. My longest book will be done this weekend. I am reading it a little at a time between other books. Like I said before, it’s a little more laid back for me with each round lasting two weeks.
Definitely more laid back with 2 weeks per round! I think it was weekly during the last wheel ("Brown" edition), and every 2 weeks the time before that ("Holiday" edition), which was only 6 weeks long.
The "Brown" edition was fun when we could ask for re-spins, and my team got some very bizarre words and themes. :D
Oh God, I think I remember that. Were you on the team that got crazy words, like ones with 2 Qs and such? LOL Liqqor or Liquorice or something?
No, we had Machiatto and Eucalyptus. I think there was one other team that did 2 respins besides mine, but I don't know what their weird words were.
Geri wrote: "Yes, we usually get a day or two to plan for the next word. I am liking having each round being 2 weeks. It’s a little more laid back for me. I think last time we got a new word every week.I fini..."
I agree, Geri. I love the 2-week long rounds! Especially during times like this week, where my reading was on the slower side. Gives me a chance to TRY to make up for it during week 2.
My sister left for Florida last Friday & I’ve had the kids all week, so I haven’t had as much Goodreads/reading time. I had promised the kids I would hang out with them & not be on my iPad 24/7 while they’re here. LOL. My sis will be back tomorrow (Saturday), so my reading will go back to normal then. :p
Anyone reading anything good right now? Is anyone else reading (or read) the June Adult BOM, The Jetsetters?
I'm reading an indie Book 2 that's a little bit meh, but also started that re-read of Harry Potter #4 today. So yay to that. Also, for some reason, a whole bunch of NetGalley approvals turned up in my inbox today. I haven't been requesting much stuff in the last few months, due to a combination of big backlog, reading less, and forgetting to check their website for new titles, but wow today was like Book Xmas, with whatever I did request, all coming in at once!
I got approved for The Conductors, which is exciting.
Ooh, that’s always fun - getting new NetGalley approvals! I hadn’t heard of The Conductors before, but it sounds really good so I just added it to my TBR. Curious to see what you think of it when you get to it!
