Headwinds: a memoir, by Edna Bell-Pearson
This memoir covers some major changes in Edna's personal life, as well as the life of our country. During the course of the book, Edna goes from being a single woman working as a photographer and dating soldiers from the local airbase in southwest Kansas during WWII to being a wife of a veteran and business owner of an air service and airport in a small town in northeast Kansas during the postwar era. She is also affected by the national changes: end of WWII, beginning of the Cold War, and experiencing the heady feelings accompanying the postwar booms. This includes her family business in the new aviation field: pilots like her husband are returning and wanting to still fly, other vets want to learn to fly, businesses are realizing that air travel may be important to their future success.
(By the end of this memoir she and her husband end their flying service and move to rural Arkansas to "live off the land"... another huge change!)
