Pick for Me Challenge!!!

Lurkers...first time newbies...anyone, feel free to join! Things are slowly returning to normal, but reading definitely remains one of my favorite ways to pass the time.

This challenge has endured the test of time in our group because it is definitely the most fun! Feel free to participate each month, or when your schedule allows. We're not picky, we love seeing you when you can!

The How-to
1. Create a new shelf, or update an existing shelf on your Goodreads profile, that includes approximately 20 books that you would like to have someone else use to pick a book for you to read. Label it "Pick For Me." Only books from this designated shelf will be selected for this challenge, (no matter how badly some of us want to pick something else...hint hint, pick-happy moppets...*giggle*)!

2. Post in this thread that you want to participate this month. If you don't post here, I won't necessarily remember that you want in.

3. Provide the link to your Pick For Me shelf, (this will make it a bit easier for all parties involved... unless you all really *want* to read Jezebel. *a new month, a new pick from me!*) This is really important, especially this month, if you want to check the links for shelves that I have below in the spoiler section and let me know if your link needs to be updated, that would be great! :) If you're new to our challenge and having difficulty finding the link to your shelf, please let me know.

4. On June 1st, *cough, cough* someone...the hand of fate, maybe, *cough, cough* will use the randomizer to pair up everyone. (Or worst case scenario, I really will just do the old making of a list on a piece of paper and draw lines between everyone, and you *know* what that means, *shifty eyes* see above for my pick for the month, LOL!)

5. Friend your partner who is picking for you or set your profile to public or your partner will not be able to access your shelf.

6. Post your selection for your partner in this thread.

7. Come back after finishing the book selected for you by your partner (even if it's after the month has ended) and let everybody know what you think about it, or at least that you've finished...or DNF'd it (another book off your list is always a win in our book!)

**The sign up period will remain open until pairs are posted on June 1st and you'll have until June 4th to select a book for your partner or one of these other scavengers will swoop in and do it for you.**

Sample shelf: Grey's Pick For Me

pay no attention to these shelves...I just have the following ones saved

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2459 comments I'd like in, but can't seem to paste my link from my phone. Sorry for the extra work, Grey!!

In other news, I have been lucky enough to keep my job and be able to work from home. We probably won't go back to the office as a whole until August, but have the option to go in if we want. I decided to go back to the office on Tuesday because I need to get back into a routine, I am way too comfortable never leaving the house, and if I have to look at my husband's face one more day, I am going to snap and possibly end up in prison for putting a pillow over his head and hugging him tight!!! I love him, but yeah, I don't want to spend that much time with anyone!!!

Lisa--glad you're getting to get out some now. Wow, August?? Hubs never has missed (he's actually worked more) because Lowe's online fulfillment center doesn't close for anything, so besides having our skin peeling off from all the sanitizer and hand washing, not much has changed for us.

I suppose I'm going to be home for a long, looooong time. Good thing I'm a hermit at heart!

Yay! I’ve been wanting to read this duet for awhile now & lately I seem to only be reading ARCs & my PFM book so this is awesome. I’m excited!

message 36: by Nay (last edited Jun 01, 2020 02:40PM) (new)

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments Leslie--I haven't read many on your list, but I'm going to help you get an oldie off your TBR. This is one that I loved SO much 7 years ago (I hope I'm not dooming it):

Connected (Connections, #1) by Kim Karr Connected by Kim Karr

message 37: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) | 3499 comments Lucky you, Robin!

I gave Kulti 4 stars and I have no idea why, because every time I think about that book, even 3 years later, I get that "book love" feeling inside. I changed my rating to 5 stars.

Renee, I've had to go back and rate a book higher for the same reason before. Although Kulti was a 5++ star read from the start. I'm the one that told Robin to listen to the awesome narration. We should do a re-read (re-listen) with her since you're doing exclusively audiobooks right now.

Robin, did you get that? I want to re-read Kulti with you. (Or re-listen.) I've been wanting to re-read that one for awhile.

Thank you, Leslie!! I've had that on my PFM since it released and haven't been able to get to it yet. I'm so excited. I pretty much always love a KH book. Even if it's not a 5 stars read, I still love it on some level.

message 44: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1657 comments Grey, I haven't read any of the books on your list. So, going by my TBR, I'm picking this one for you.:

Where the Blame Lies (Where, #1) by Mia Sheridan

Hope you like it!

Jean, you have some great books to choose from. I'm going with Wish You Were Here by Renee Carlino. I was late to the game and this was my first RC read. I loved it and I noticed you've enjoyed most of her recent releases, too. I hope this book continues the trend.

Jean...can I be a punk? I was supposed to read that one last month and haven't gotten to it. *eek* Can I ask you to pick a different one, so I can still try and read that one from May?
