October 2009 Reading Challenge

[Yz the Whyz]

Inspired by the changing hues of the Fall season, October's is nicknamed Literary Colors Challenge.

Duration: October 1st to 30th

The goal is to read 9 books whose covers match predominantly the colors listed.

Be sure to post the cover for confirmation. To do that, click on the 'add book/author' on top of the message box, search your book, and at the bottom, click on cover instead of link.

Ann--have you tried looking at the different editions? When you pull up the book cover link, you have the option to choose other editions. You may have already thought of that...

Covet? Hmmmm.... I know you haven't read it yet, but have you heard anything about whether or not its a good idea to read BDB series first? I didn't know if BDB fans were some how in the know :) Thanks!

I have read all the BDB books and by looking at the synopsis, didnt recognize any of the character names. I just posted a question to others who have read it--I will let you know what they say.

Good one Yz. I had fun looking for books. I found it easier to stroll through my GRF lists and look at colours. My problem is, when I start a series, I need to finish it. So I found that difficult in trying to find books to read.

You can read Covet first, but you won't get the little things, like the mention of the Brothers from Black Dagger Brotherhood, etc. But there's enough explanation in Covet that even though they take place in the same town, Caldwell, you won't be messed up.

However, a big part of what made Covet so "special", besides the amazing story, was the little glimpses of familiar places and people from BDB.

Sigh, I know to check other covers--but I'm trying to NOT buy anything new right now. We (hubby and I) have to go to my Mum's in Oct--that's a 10 day or so trip with at least 3 days in a motel, plus food, gas and anything we have to buy while at my Mum's to do the 1,000 and one things on her "to-do" list when we get there. Plus--Birthdays.

In Sept we have me and #2 Grandson (he'll be 11 in another 4 days)

Oct. Mum and #1 grandson (he'll be 13)

Nov is Thanksgiving

Dec (early part) is "grandaughter's" bd (foreign exchange student that Oz has. she'll be 16) Plus of course, Christmas.
Ah for the good old days when the kids were easy (and cheap) to shop for.

It looks a faint pink to me too on the cover art, plus there's an edition that has bright pink writing on the cover.
