Please edit or correct or delete this quote. (part 6)

Could someone please change the author listed on this quote to Rick Mercer (who wrote "Talking To Canadians") instead of the Rick Mercer the website chose for me?

Done. Please allow at least 20 minutes (more if using the app) for the change to display.
Does this quote come from a particular book?

This popular quote isn't by Tolkien at all, but from the movie franchise:
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/7018...
The movie quote is a variation of this book quote from The Return of the King (if you'd rather edit than remove):
"And the ship went out into the High Sea and passed on into the West, until at last on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise."

The actual quote from Fellowship of the Ring is by Gandalf :
‘the Ring passed out of knowledge and legend; and even so much of its history is known now only to a few, and the Council of the Wise could discover no more.

Arwen doesn't say this (or anything) during all of Fellowship of the Ring:
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/8206...
Boromir doesn't say this in the books:
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/9879...
This quote is wrong:
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/7272...
It should be (the slightly more complicated): "oft evil will shall evil mar" spoken by Théoden in The Two Towers.
or, a different Tolkien quote with the same meaning: "Let us remember that a traitor may betray himself and do good that he does not intend." from Return of the King.
This oft-quoted phrase is from movie Galadriel
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/7590...
There is the book version spoken by Elrond in Fellowship of the Ring - but it (the correct version) is already also posted.
"'Yet such is oft the course of deeds that move the wheels of the world: small hands do them because they must, while the eyes of the great are elsewhere.’ "

Please allow 24 hours for this quote to completely disappear.

If the quotes I provided from Tolkien's own book aren't enough, please let me know how many Tolkien experts you need and I can bring them.
Marcel Aubron-Bülles, better known online as 'The Tolkienist' and a recognised expert and Tolkien scholar, brought up these same quotes here before to no avail. But I can bring more experts if it will help.

As I am learning to navigate, is "Angelisa's Quotes" where I would put quotes that move me as opposed to excerpts I have myself written?
Thank you so much for your help?

It also does not meet our notability guidelines. To be added to the database of quotes on Goodreads, a quote must have a specific known author who is notable.
I have removed it.

By a Tolkein Expert I meant a Goodreads Librarian who is knowledgeable about Tolkein quotes.
I would suggest editing your posts to add something like. Have now made an individual post for these requests - & do so! (please don't delete your posts as this will put the numbering of the thread off) A librarian who knows Tolkein's works well is more likely to spot a request like that rather than go through one of these very long threads.
If after two weeks you still haven't had a response to an individual thread, you could try Support (Staff) https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta...

https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/3740...
Based on a longer version of the quote, it should read:
“Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward.”
i.e. "cleaning up to do" instead of "cleaning do to do"

Please delete both quotes I have on my account:
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/7921...
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/7921......"
Both deleted. Please note that quotes should only be added if they are by authors & other notable people.
The quotes may take a day or two to completely disappear.

I can't find an actual page containing the following phrase or something similar, so the quote might be falsely attributed to him.

This quote from Peter Atkins is properly attributed to him, but not to the book it is from. According to a Google Books search (which Goodreads will not let me link to from here, but you can search in Google Books on a sample from the quote if you need to confirm), the quote is from Atkin's entry in Nature's Imagination: The Frontiers of Scientific Vision (the page number 123 is even visible in the Google Books excerpt).
Nature's Imagination is an anthology edited by John Cornwell, in case that matters when you attribute a quote by a particular conributor to a book with multiple contributors. Nature's Imagination does not seem to appear in the list of books on Atkin's Add a quote page (not that I as a non-librarian can use that page to attribute this quote to the book). However, it's difficult to tell, because Atkins has a long list of books, they do not appear in alphabetical order, and I see no way to search the list.

I added it, but it was misquoted. Thanks!

Please note:
1/ If there had been any likes I wouldn't have been able to delete it.
2/ Very few librarians work with quotes, so some requests will take time to get a response.

I would recommend making a separate thread for your request. Then if there is a Librarian who is a Kafka expert there is more chance of them seeing it. :) Please edit your post to say you are making a separate thread, rather than deleting it outright as the numbering of the thread will go out.
#583 Well, well learn something new every day! I didn't think I would be able to do this as Peter wasn't the first author but I could. Please allow at least 20 minutes for the changes to display (much) longer if you are using the app.
#585 We prefer to edit rather than delete outright. can you give me the correct version of the quote?

I already added another quote with the correct version, so please delete this one if possible.

Would it please be possible to add the book titles for the these two quotes:
1) Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber

2) The Traitor Queen (The Bridge Kingdom #2) by Danielle L. Jensen

It has been wrongly attributed to Sylvia Plath for years. Since this quote constantly apprears everywhere, I have done some resaearch and found our that this quote has been popularized by the tumblr “Incorrect Sylvia Plath Quotes” but was apparently orignially posted by the Twitter user “LeFonk” in 2010 (see https://twitter.com/LeFonk/status/100...).
This is definitely not by Plath, because I have done a search of all her works and it's nowhere to be found!
Thank you!
