message 654: by Daniel (new)

Daniel | 67 comments Please attribute this quote by Jennifer Nagel to her book Knowledge: A Very Short Introduction. Thanks.

When I was adding the quote I got an error on my first try, and when I corrected the error and saved the quote I failed to notice that Goodreads had subtly cleared the book I had selected for the quote after generating the error and redisplaying the add a quote page.

Tina Roberts | 1 comments Is it possible to delete this quote: https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/8206...

This quote is attributed to "― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings", but it is a line from the movies and does not appear in the books, so this is a misattribution.

Thank you.

Annette Dabrowska | 5 comments Could you remove my quotes? They aren't in my book anymore.

message 658: by Sandie (new)

Sandie Pichereau | 77 comments Hi, can someone remove the quote from the enchiridion by pope Leo III. it's obviously a joke. I may add some quote, since i have own copy in french and english digital version of this book ;).

Also, Pope Leo III never wrote this book, it was written by an imposter, so name of author should be "Pope Leo III, * Pseudonym of anonymous". Thanks <3

here is the link of the book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Clare O'Beara | 1119 comments Two quotes by same attribution, no real name or book, look like bad translations or whatever.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 2278 comments #667 leaving for a librarian who is expert in Tolkein books/films.

#668 Wrong folder. Not many librarians do quotes so this may not be seen by a Super for quite some time.

Could you remove the text from your comment, but leave the post in place (maybe put something like "request moved." If you delete the whole thing the numbering will be out. :)

message 664: by Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ (last edited Nov 17, 2022 01:11PM) (new)

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 2278 comments #669 We don't remove quotes with likes sorry.

But I have removed the one that started “Breaking the circle” as that was extract rather than quote length.

It may take a couple of days to completely disappear.

#670 That quote was so obviously not by a Pope (or papal impostor!) that I have removed it.

Could you delete the part about thinking the author name should be changed & ask in the questions folder. Very few librarians do quotations so it is best to only ask about quotations in this thread. (as an aside, same goes for the Awards folder)

KimYoonmi | 1 comments Lao Tzu quote is wrong:
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/5233...

He never said that as explained here:
https://www.taoistic.com/fake-laotzu-...

The article gives the history of the false attribution of the quote and why Lao Tzu wold never say that.

The likely attribution is Junia Bretas from a Buddhist Bulletin, but misquoted, according to the article. The correct quote and attribution plus book should be noted.

Please fix. Thank you.

Jim McCrory Please remove the Haiku quoted in Eri Muraoka's Anne's Cradle.
It was writen by Royakan Taigu.

message 675: by Sandie (new)

Sandie Pichereau | 77 comments Hi please look at Quote #670, the quote has a like, but it's not from the author. The author died in middle age and the quote is humouristic and written in a contemporary style, and joking about drugs please.

message 676: by Tracey (new)

Tracey | 1 comments New member here. If there is a better place for it, I'd appreciate some direction. I can find no evidence that the quote by Tolstoy at https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/1065... was ever made by him. I have searched his _Confession_ but cannot find it. If there is no support for the quote, may I suggest removing it?

Thank you!

686 I'm not sure if I should change it to Bretas so I have tagged it as misattributed for now. Someone else can look at it.
687 fixed
688 was already done
689 maybe someone else can look at this

Leah Janeczko | 7 comments Hi, my apologies if this post appears twice -- I'm new to this group.

Would you please remove the quote by author Roberto Piumini that begins "Questo sonetto per dire la voglia"? Mr. Piumini writes for readers of all ages, but he's primarily a children's author. This quote is a sonnet from his book of erotic poetry, making it inappropriate here!

Thank you so much!

Mr. Piumini's translator, Leah Janeczko

message 700: by Emily (last edited Dec 03, 2022 05:34PM) (new)

Emily | 17452 comments It wouldn't be inappropriate if it is from his work. Which book is it from? We can link it to that book so that there is no confusion.
