I didn't see your post when I replied to Pammy.
Who did you like before Miss Goudge?"
I'm not sure... Elizabeth Goudge is really the first author that I've loved the writing so much.

Oh dear! We got some more snow yesterday, along with wind, but it wasn't a lot...but the drifts are pretty bad! Today is really nice, though. It's 23 and no wind...very pleasant! Unlike yesterday when I almost lost my footing more than once trying to get wood!

The snow we had last week has become very icy. I took food to the bird feeder a few times and nearly fell, too. As I am typing this, my cat, Clara, is playing inside a large paper bag. She seems to be having much fun. Oh, to be a cat!😆😄😁

Ah, yes, ice is no fun! It keeps the snow from blowing, so in some ways it can be a blessing, but it's so slippery! Be careful out there!
Oh, Clara! Sounds like something Nastya would do!

That looks just like something Nastya would do! 🤣

Exactly! This morning she came running into the bathroom to watch the sink faucet drip. She thinks it's fascinating!

😄- I thought of you when I saw this.
How are you all today?"
Doing pretty well...just finished evening chores a little while ago...just one more set of chores left for the day.

and Meg's too.
Goodness, Dorothy. Reading about your collecting
wood and the snow drift, did you hurt your ankle?

so today I rested. I had made a batch of chocolate cake
mix cookies, have you tried them?
🤗💕

Yeah, it's a lot, but I'm managing.
No, it was just that the wind was so strong I felt like it would blow me over.

Aww. 🥺🤗 No, I've not, but it sounds good! 😊

Which comment are you referring to?

winds?"
On Christmas Eve our wind speed was clocked at 80 mph! That's why our garage roof is gone with the wind! Our neighbors' lost theirs, too! I despise wind.

On days of high winds do you bring in
extra wood to save you another trip
outdoors?"
We try, but if it's just me bringing it in I just try to keep some near the house so it's easier to get at. As to the wind speed, I actually didn't look to see how many mph it was going. But the gusts were pretty strong!

As in no garage roof? Good Lord, Pammy!
Has this happened before?"
It never happened in the 100+ years that our homes and garages have been standing, not even during hurricanes. My neighbors and I were in shock and were outside surveying the damage during the worst of the storm at 2:00 a.m. Christmas morning. We were all terrified, fearing more things would suffer damage and land on top of us. It was the most horrifying experience I've ever had. No time to focus on the true spirit of Christmas. Very sad. Pennsylvania has been getting terrible weather the last several years...worse than anything I can ever remember. I have my own theory as to why it's happening and it has to do with the Godless state leadership we currently have in Harrisburg. I sincerely believe it. PA had more tornadoes than Kansas did in the last year. That has never happened before. Anyway, that's my personal feeling about things. I am literally terrified to live here now.

Welcome back, Meg! You were missed! 🤗🤗🤗
There are many hilly driveways in PA! Winding roads, too! I used to work with a woman who was born and raised in Kansas, before moving to PA. She always said "In Kansas our roads were all north, south, east and west. Since I moved to PA, I get so confused because there is no direction to any roads!" Of course, there is always a direction to roads, she just couldn't figure it out because of all the hills and turns! 😆😄 She also insisted that a pound of rocks is so much heavier than a pound of feathers! I tried to explain that a pound is a pound, no matter what. She never did catch on! A very nice person, but I do belive she was from the land of Oz!😁😂🤣😃😄😅😆😉

That's for sure! 🤣 When we see signs for a town and it gives the distance as so many miles, my dad says he thinks it's really much farther with all the curves! And the hills...there are a few hills there that are much scarier to me than the Mt. Washington Auto Road! 😳

Yes

How is evetyone?
Hi Meggy!!!
It's lovely to have you back! Sorry I missed your
arrival yesterday. Thank God you had a good and dafe trip.
Did you attend the wedding?
Hi Pammy,
Oh, dear! Not again. There are far too many spam reprobates
plaguing G.R. members. I've had three of such invites, all flagged
reported and blocked.

Hi Ruth! 🤗 It's good to be back! We didn't attend the wedding, but it was actually only about an hour away from where my aunt and uncle live in OH, so we got to spend part of the day with them and also got to see one of my cousins. 😊

That's wonderful! I'm sure they were thrilled
to see you. Had it been long time? How are
they, well and in health?

So they are doing well? That was serendipitous,
for your cousin to be there, how does he like
the transfer?

Yes, they are fully recovered! It was very worrying when they got it as they are in their 70s and my uncle has had open heart surgery, but they didn't have any major complications, thank God!
My cousin seems to be doing well there, but I don't think he really liked having to move, with his parents being in OH. He does seem to get to come back for visits fairly often, though.

I thought one of the most memorable
lines in classic literature,
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife."
Then of North and South by
Elizabeth Gaskell.
I thoroughly enjoyed this Novel,
Miss Gaskell writing is bolder version of Pride
and Prejudice with Dickensian social issues.
I liked the character of Miss Margaret Hale,
she had great fortitude for a nineteen year
old who faced many losses, she is an excellent
example of a good time model.
