Remember we are using the Kindle first edition for the page count, please correct. 😊

MountainKat | 31763 comments Here is your next task:

31. Read 4 books written by a male author.

Please provide a link to the author page in your qualification.

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1573 comments FYI: a couple of the male authors in my TBR don't have any info on their author pages, so I asked over in the Q&A thread if we could use an alternate link, like an Amazon bio or the author's website. Just in case anyone else has the same problem. I'll let you know when MKat answers.

If you've got a suggestion for a male author who has filled in his author page on GR, let me know! I have a couple books by T.J. Klune, but I'm trying to hold him in reserve in case we get the RRRC author of the month task. (As of the start of the challenge, T.J. was the only m/m author of the month so far for 2020.)

ETA: The two authors I'm thinking about without GR bios are Aiden Bates and Rosalind Abel, which is a pen name for Brandon Witt.

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1573 comments MKat said yes to Amazon bios or author websites for those who don't have anything on their GR author page.

Thanks! I'm familiar with some of these (including a couple that I thought were female authors writing with male pen names, so that's good to know!), but there are some new names on here I'll have to check out. I don't hangout online with the m/m folks as much as I used to, and I looked up about a year ago and realized I hardly recognize any of the players anymore.

UnusualChild{beppy} | 1282 comments I did some quick digging before I posted the list, and I think they're all male. A couple are FTM transgender, like Jay Northcote and Matthew Metzger, but that's male in my book.
We had this category called in Bingo a week ago, so I took a quick look, and there were s couple of (fairly) big names I forgot, and a couple I didn't know about.

Jay Bell
Kade Boehme
J.b. Sanders
Chace Potter
Roe Horvat

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1573 comments Oh, no. I definitely meant women who use a male pen name. (And those were sort of general impressions about authors I don't know much about, so I'm sure you're right.) Trans men are men.

Which reminds me, I discovered the other day that Jordan L. Hawk has come out as a trans man, so he would work for this task too. (I just don't have anything of his that I haven't read yet, so he wasn't on my radar for this one, but I remember you mentioning the SPECTR series a few weeks back.)

MountainKat | 31763 comments Here is your next task:

48. Read a minimum of 750 pages in books featuring shifters.

For this task I will be looking for 'shifter' or 'were-something' to qualify your book. Don't forget to let me know how you know your book qualifies! Is it in the title or precis? On a list? Tagged? I need to know where to look to qualify your book. Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count.

message 126: by Becky (new)

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1573 comments Things have really been getting to me this week, and my coping mechanism has been to reread the same couple books over and over. I'll try to break that cycle and read something that fits this challenge tomorrow. Starting Sunday, everyone gets the same task, and then it's an all-you-can-read dash to the end. I'd like to get in on that if we can. Those are always fun.

UnusualChild{beppy} | 1282 comments Task 9: Shifters

Longing for Shelter
Pages: 318 https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
Qualifies: tagged as "paranormal-shapeshifter" on main page
Completed: June 5/'20

UnusualChild{beppy} | 1282 comments Sorry that things aren't going well, Becky. I know all about wanting to get lost in the familiar. Do any of your favourites have shifters? Just an idea if you don't want to venture into unknown territory, since that can sometimes go terribly awry.

message 129: by Becky (new)

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1573 comments That's not a bad idea. I've got something new that fits the task, and I've been looking at it all week and thinking, "I really want to read you, but...." I hadn't considered looking for something else. And I guess I've been hoping I would shake this mood and want to try something new.
