8 Week Dash For the Win!
Challenge Dates:
Signups open until April 11, 2020 at 9 PM US EDT.
Remaining Teams Assigned after signups close on April 11, 2020.
First Task Assigned April 14, 2020 at 6 PM US EDT.
Challenge Ends on June 9, 2020 at Midnight US EDT, tasks will not be accepted after this time.
Each team will work together to complete tasks. Once complete, you will be given another task to complete. After the first task, teams will be on different paths with tasks randomly assigned. The same tasks may be assigned to different teams at different times, but no task will be used more than once by the same team. Each team works at their own pace and the team that completes the most tasks at the end of 8 weeks will be the winner!
After the first task is given to everyone, when a team finishes their task they will need to report their completion in the Tracking/Q&A thread. I will confirm the completion and assign their next task. New tasks will not be assigned more frequently than every other day. I will attempt to respond quickly to confirm completion and assign new tasks, but please allow up to 24 hours. If I am unavailable, another mod will assign the task.
Each teammate will need to participate in each task, but may take a pass for one task during the course of the challenge. For some tasks, no passes will be allowed. Completions posts will need to be made when finishing each book for a task, similar to the PtP and Bachelor Challenges. A player will be removed if they make no comment for 5 days after a new task is assigned or 3 days after the rest of the team completes the task (whichever is later), despite attempts to make contact.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 13, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

I'm in the Bay Area in CA. I try to check a lot but this is the first time I'll have 4 challenges going at the same time (OIY!). I'm Captaining for SH so probably could not take on additional work now. I'm remote working but that still means working - happy to have a great company and job.
Team Names - I've never watched the show (don't prefer reality or contestant based TV shows and I only just got local cable here due to the COVID-19 so I could figure out what was happening - otherwise no TV for me. I was happy my TV still worked as I hadn't turned it on for many months - the life of a reading addict ) so is there anything that makes sense based on the TV show?
And for clarity if the task is say read 8 books, we each need to read 1 and the other 4 can be read by anyone or we each need to read 2? I was not sure with the rules as they are not always the same amount as the number of team members.

Lol I didn't realise it was a TV show 😂 So I'm not sure either, I haven't heard of it before now.
I think we all need to read at least 1 for the task, but after that it's whoever so someone could read extra 1 or 2 or we could all read 2. Same for when we have to reach a certain pg count, I'm pretty sure we all have to read at least one and after that it's whoever wants too or does first.

Im currently with Sunshine for Ptp, although I have seen Jo and Elizabeth around groups 😊
I looked up some team names based around race, I liked these but I'm never sure when it comes to names so I'm fine with any.
Are we there yet?
Not fast, Just furious
Happy Feet
Easier said than run

I've only played with Sunshine before, but I've seen Jo around for years in MM group challenges.
I live in Greece (GMT+2), I'm only doing PtP at the moment, so I could captain if no one else would like to.
I don't know this Amazing Race show, but I read a book a few years ago that was something like that, so I had to check it. I think Laura is correct regarding the tasks and who is reading what, although I'll have to check the rules later.
I'm not good with names, I think it isn't necessary to pick one, but maybe Sunshine have some suggestions.
Looking forward to start this challenge!
Laura wrote: "Looking at the tasks again, MK does say they are just an example of what tasks could be provided so there may be others not listed. Also says rule to each task will be explained more when given to ..."
Good job, Laura! I'm useless with names.
Are we there yet? is my favorite, followed closely by Not fast, Just furious.

Thanks! I put them in order of the one I liked most too. Are we there yet? Is my favourite and I thought Not fast, Just furious is rather fun xx

Yes, it’s COVID-19 all day. ...13 to 14 hours a day.
Reading will be a great escape
Good to see everyone 😊

Elizabeth, I would love for you to lead the team

Yes, it’s COVID-19 all day. ...13 to ..."
Wow that's crazy hours, I do hope calms down soon for you. Take care xx
Reading is definitely the perfect escape, I've read more in the past week or two then I usually would in a month I think 😂

I am excited to start this -I love new challenges!!

I can't wait too start this one, it seems very different and interesting so I'm looking forward to it. Shall we discuss some of the options now? Or shall we just wait to see what tasks we get and decide once they show up x

MK said as long as everyone's checked in, may announce the tasks early 😊

1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.

9. Read 6 books in the same sub-genre, teams decide.
I'm open to majority, except for horror or tragedy which I avoid.

I've got a bunch of series on my tbr and open to new ones.
51. Each teammate reads a book published in the same month and year, teams decide. No pass for this task.

52. Good question, Sunshine I just presumed country's or such. Be good to ask MK if can be set in a building or work place, I don't read much young adult or books that take place in schools these days... College or uni maybe?

1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.
Ready, Set, GO!

I think so far we got NO to Tj klune, Lily Morton, AE Via, Lucy Lennox and Eli Easton...
Options I'm just throwing a few Mary Calmes, NR Walker, Lyn Gala, Alice Winters, Keira Andrews?
I'm open to any really though, as I don't tend to stick to authors specifically and more look at genres/books if interest me.

Please remember there's a 150 pg minimum for books we pick.

We should hurry up and pick, since all teams have this choice

I've read all my SH books already so now I'm just looking to see if can switch out some for better points.

I kind of just picked some random names from what I've read recent. I knew there was a couple of NR Walkers that interested me, I enjoyed one of Mary's recent books but looking through not many others interest me at the moment.
So hopefully Jo will like NR Walker too xx
