This is a Brazilian thriller where families composed by two parents and an eight-year-old child are at risk, because there's a new serial killer who has this profile as a target. We follow detective Arthur trying to solve this case, and also William, a children's psychologist who is helping the surviving children - but he also has a direct link to the murderer. This book is really compelling, there were times I couldn't put it down and, even though it's not a secret to the reader who the serial killer is, it's really interesting to follow the police investigation. I feel like the author made some things a little bit too easy for the killer to get away, but overall the way he conduced to story kept me on edge, adding to the end a bittersweet conclusion.

It's the first Hercule Poirot mystery, and it really surprised me. The narrator is a guest at the Canvendish household, and after a series of mysterious events, Emily Inglethorp, who got married again to a much younger men, is poisoned in bed during the night. That's when the family decides to call Hercule Poirot to try and solve the mystery of who poisoned mrs. Inglethorp. It was a very quick read that kept curious until the end. I had some theories of who the killer was, but every clue that was found made me change my mind, and I must say that Agatha Christie really surprised me in the end with this one.

It was an interesting read, the beginning of the story kept my attention and I really liked the way the author was building the story. However, when it comes to the last few chapters, it started to drag a lot (especially chapter 9), and I got a little bit bored and couldn't wait for it to end. The ending itself felt true to the story and didn't let this book turn into a total disappointment.
