Finished the enormous 1,306 page Imperial by William T. Vollmann. Wow. It's a fantastic book, but for a limited audience due to its size. It makes the reader focus on the Mexican-American border in ways that many people would probably prefer to shut their eyes and chant please don't tell me, please don't tell me, please don't tell me. The book is really too long, I think, otherwise it would have been five stars
