Yay! I was only gonna join you for Stormlight, but I may join Warbreaker, I'll see if I'm in the mood for it when June comes about..
Beena wrote: "Yay! I was only gonna join you for Stormlight, but I may join Warbreaker, I'll see if I'm in the mood for it when June comes about.."Oh oops, but that's more than 50% (at least page wise), so let's round up and I'll leave the comment as it is 😂
I'm thinking I'm in for at least some of this. I haven't read a single solitary Sanderson, never knowing where to start... any suggestions as to where I should butt in?
In March, April and May we're reading Mistborn Era 2, I don't think you should start there if you haven't read era 1, starting with The Final Empire.Normally I would suggest starting with Mistborn Era 1 (or Elantris) because it was published first, but if you don't mind missing some easter eggs, I do think you can just as well start with The Way of King and join us from July onwards.
I think Warbreaker would work as well, but I haven't read it yet and therefore I'm not sure if it's a good introduction to Sanderson's work
Thanks @Anni! I just requested The Final Empire from the library and we'll see how I go 😊 then I'll maybe I'll join you for The Way of Kings
Warbreaker would work pretty well for an introduction... A nice little standalone before diving into the Stormlight Archives page-monsters :p
I am in for Warbreaker and after reading it I will decide if I will join for Stormlight Archives or not.

Navi wrote: "Does anyone know where I can find a copy of White Sand? It's not available for Kindle!"Hmm it's on kindle in the UK, just found it on Amazon. They also sell it in Hardcover. Paperback versions are from third party sellers only by the looks.
Siobhan wrote: "Brandon Sanderson's White Sand Vol. 1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01E62OKF..."Oh, I didn't realize it was a graphic novel! The book listed in the first post is different.
Navi, the graphic novels were adapted from the prose version he wrote many years ago, if you would prefer that. It's hard to get, though.
Sir Anni wrote: "You get the prose version per email, when you subscribe to Sanderson's newsletter :)"Ohh that makes sense. Thank you!
Rob wrote: "Isn't the prose version of White Sand in Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere Collection."Don't think so, just a small section of graphic novel I think.
Sir Anni wrote: "You get the prose version per email, when you subscribe to Sanderson's newsletter :)"What version are you buddy reading? :)
Rob wrote: "Isn't the prose version of White Sand in Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere Collection."That's only the first few chapters. The full prose is like 600-700 pages.

I was going to reread the prose. I really didn't like the graphic novel.
Finally got my hands on the new edition of the Elantris UK paperback, so I'll be reading that sometime this month if anyone wanna join :D

Oh what didn't you like about it, out of interest?
Honestly the illustrations. I thought all of the characters looked the same and therefore it was hard to follow. I wish they got a different illustrator for it.

I was planning to read the prose version... I'm not the biggest fan of GN in general and the White Sand ones are quite expensive... Also judging by the cover, the illustrations aren't my cup of tea eigher...
Ah that's a shame Diana.Cool I will try to get the prose and join.
Sorry for confusing you, Navi! I was confused myself apparently. 😅

Prose is a lot better anyway 😅. BranSan packs a lot of information into his books, and you miss a lot of details in the gn version. It's like watching an hour and a half movie based on a 900 page book. Sure you get the basic gist, but you lose so much of the development.

Thank you, I had no idea it was originally prose! I'd only ever seen the graphic novels.
Have you picked a date for The Alloy of Law? I started a few days ago and would love to discuss with you all :D
Sir Anni wrote: "Uhm no... I also think we missed White Sand. At least I do 😅"Been meaning to reread the first two white sand graphic novels and third has been sitting on the shelf since release day, so I need to this myself :)

Do you know if the graphic novel and the prose version align somehow? I will read the late, if they do, we can do a BR. Maybe delay it a bit further and read it sometime at the beginning of April?
Kathrine wrote: "Have you picked a date for The Alloy of Law? I started a few days ago and would love to discuss with you all :D"Would you mind waiting a bit longer? I think I can start on the 25th

That's fine, would rather wait and be able to discuss with you :D

Perfect, thank you! :)
I also think I haven't messaged you back, whoops, I will! In the meantime you could maybe talk to your gouverment and tell them to open their borders again around the 20th of April 😂

Hahahaha, no worries! I figured that you were waiting to reply until it was a bit clearer what the hell is going on in the world right now xD I will! The PM and I are on excellent terms, if I do say so myself (I saw her one time in person from about 100 metres away – we're practically family!)
Jokes aside, I'm actually super proud of the Danish and other European governments for their handling of the situation. Props for acting fast and taking drastic but necessary decisions. It's crazy to experience this level of crisis control like border closings and mandatory shutdowns of public places – it usually only happens in times of war.
Hope all of you are safe <3
