Cool sounds good! I'm going to try to start The Fault in Our Stars today (hopefully!). Probably for reverse then if that's ok?

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments sorry everyone, I've been at work earlier and then walked our dog for two freaking hours!!!!! while listening to Come Tumbling Down - I might even finish it tonight already :)

I'll have to go back into work for a few hours in a bit but I'm here now :)

It doesn't matter what else a book is tagged, if it's tagged Childrens it needs to be verified. What's the book? I can try to find word count for you :)

We go by the stock photo of the edition we are reading on goodreads. However, if you have a physical copy in your hands and say it looks differently in person (e.g. more blue than purple or more green than yellow) than the photo on GR does then we can go by that as well.

Your book The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine looks more purple to me, but others might see it differently since we perceive colour differently. What does everybody else think? If we don't come to a conclusion we can also ask in the captain's chat.
Judging from its default page I'm not sure it'll fit any of our blue cards, but of course only the MCs get mentioned there and you might still stumble across any character names that would work :)

Ashley wrote: "I also can’t seem to figure out how to post a photo in here..."

A photo you took or the cover link to the book on GR?
The first one doesn't really work unless you upload the photo to some website first so you have an url to link, and the second one (what I did above to The Last Mrs. Parrish) you do via 'add book/author' above the comment section. I hope that helps :)

Ashley Elig | 689 comments I won't get to it until later in the month. For now, I'm going to start with The Unhoneymooners for the colored card I've already committed to! As I am participating in several challenges, I'm trying to work on a plan for the month that maximizes counting as many books as I can that meet criteria for multiple challenges. I don't know that I will have any green books, but have a few blues and yellows that I am looking into for this month... or some point during UNO!

message 108: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments That's definitely more than 50% blue, Ashley :)

Daniela Zekotic | 923 comments Lau Maia wrote: "Quidditch practice? Please tell me more"

I think it's quicker if you watch a video rather than me trying to type everything xD its a complex sports, sadly not being seen as an "official" one, as game time can't be forseen (game time stops whenever a referee calls a foul or whatever, not like with soccer). But we do have world cups and european cups (those are for national teams, so players from all teams thrown together). And my team is going to participate at the EQC (it's like the champions league for europe) - at EQC your team has to qualify (so we have a qualifier for all Austrian teams f.e and the winner gets to go to the cup).

If you want to know how it looks like, this is the World Cup Finale from 2018 :)

message 111: by Lau (new)

Lau Maia Thanks Daniela, I'm going to check the game out, didn't know it existed :)

I'm starting The Big Sleep (Philip Marlowe, #1) by Raymond Chandler that has a green cover and is book 1 in a series so it works for 1 Green

Should I post to the spreadsheet?

message 112: by Daniela (new)

Daniela Zekotic | 923 comments @Lau only Christina and I can edit the spreadsheet. Once you're done reading, post it in here, with the layout Christina posted in the first few comments (where all the information is)

Daniela and I decided against a separate tracking sheet that everyone has access to. We have been doing fine without one over the years (the two of us just keep track in our official team ss) and I personally think it's easier this way, especially for our newbies.
It's okay if you forget to add a card your book works for - if you realize later you can still let us know. Sometimes we'll even catch it ourselves :) For my own reads, I usually keep track of names that work for uno in a note on my phone or in ebooks I just highlight them.
Also, since every member is required to check in at least once a week having to post your finished books here will hopefully assure that ;)

Hope that helps :)

Sorry for the rant. On my defense, when you asked if I liked it, you opened a dam. I'm really looking forward to changing my opinion cause there's 800 more pages left. :)

I don't quite see how Skip works for the book, as the authors name is Lauren Blakely? Nicknames can only be used for the charactes in the book, and only when the nickname is more regulary used than their full name (from what I remember anyway)

Sorry I never answered your Quidditch question! Yes, there is a snitch, it's just a person wearing trousers with a sock attached to the trousers. In the sock is a tennis ball, so that's basically your snitch and you have to catch it. It's really hard as the snitch runner is basically allowed to throw you around as long as he isn't aggressive about it
