I just realized how soon my book is due back at the library, so I'm going to start a couple days early. And then I can jump into the conversation!
I'm also really excited/scared of how many books are in the series.

Where do you get the short stories from?
They're in other anthologies. I try to find them online, usually, or through a friend who reads Urban Fantasy, or see if my library has them.If I can't get them easily, I usually skip them -- it kills my completionist leanings, but it can't be helped!
Ok, I will try and start this series with you guys. I have Hollows #1 and #12 on my Kindle - they both dropped in price. But AAAAARGGH! That leaves 11 in the middle! I HATE not having a complete set of things, but I can only afford so much. The library will have these, I know. . .
Oh! Is this thread going to become a series thread?? I've only read the first book in this series but would love to read more!
Me too! I'm not sure how we request that but since I just realized this buddy read doesn't officially start until January 12th, we should probably wait until sometime after then?
Yes, that would be good to wait until others are done. I think we can ask the Mods to make it into a series read.
You're not the only one.I just finished Chapter 11 and I'm really liking the book so far. I know for sure I'm going to be sucked into the entire series.
I love books that have such a strong amount of world building.

I'm only up to Chapter 4 so far, but I totally agree. This series was recommended to me for that very reason and I'm already seeing why. (view spoiler)
I started the book last night and struggled to get into it. I only got to about page 10 and put it down. I'm not sure if it's just my frame of mind last night that I wasn't following or too many distractions at home of what. I'm going to give it another shot tonight as I heard a lot of really good things and I want to enjoy it, just felt really lost and wasn't following the first few pages.

I started the book last night and I'm now on chapter 24.

I do think the book is really interesting and attention grabbing, but it did take me a couple chapters to really be able to get into it.
Spoilers through Chapter 27:

Finally caught up on other books and starting this now! YAY! Hope I'm not the last one to start, but it would be about par for me. Since I'm caught up with Kate Daniels and Mercy Thompson, I'm hoping this will be my next "go to" UF series to enjoy while I wait for new publications!

About to start Chapter 7! (view spoiler)
I finished the book yesterday and I think I might start the second book.I'm excited to read what everyone thinks of the first book.
Chapters 1 and 2:I'm not sure what to think yet. I didn't get very far into the story and I have a feeling it will take some time for it to get going.
@ Becky ♡The Bookworm♡ you're not the last to start and not alone in this buddy read.
@Stacie nice to see you here :).
I'm here, too. Have started it but only to Chapter 4. Not in love with it so far. Having to alternate between it & a library loan.
Chapters 3-6:I'm starting to get into the story a little more. I like the way world building is taking place. I like the characters, they are not perfect with some character flaws.
@ Blakely, I would try anything to resist her and would probably hide somewhere. Ivy's scary....
@Becky I agree with everything you've said above, Rachel really had a boss from Hell. I'm not hooked yet, but I'm getting there the story gets more interesting with each chapter.

Started back on trying this book again this morning. I skimmed the first few pages since that's where I got stuck before, but once I got a little more into it I think it'm going to be okay! LOL! Didn't get too far since I was reading on my drive in to work, but will definitely read more tonight! Thanks everyone for pushing me to get past the first few pages and it will get better! You were right!
Finally got the chance to start this. I always love to see how different authors explain vampires, werewolves, etc etc. I'm not very far in but I'm intrigued.@Imke good to see you here too!
Up through Chapter 8/25%Denon (I keep reading his name as Demon) and everyone else that used to work with Rachel scare the bejeesus out of me. Thanks for the heads up that we (view spoiler)

Based off of a description I read for one of the short stories, Ivy used her wish as such: (view spoiler). Totally not anything I would have expected.I need to read that short story.
So I started a day late (yesterday) AND I only got through 4 pages before I fell asleep. It's not the book's fault though! The gym kicked my ass yesterday.

Me, too! "Willpower don't fail me now! Must not...click...spoiler...must...not...!" ; )
I really want to jump into the next book, but I can't because of other challenge commitments. Argh. This is really a neat start to the series. It's a completely different spin on a world with preternatural creatures. For those of you that have read ahead, how do the future books match up? Do they get better or at least keep pace?
That reminds me. Is this thread going to be turned into a series read? *Asks on bended knees*I'm willing to stick around for the long haul. I'm planning to read them anyway and will start book two in early February.
Got a little farther last night....still not as quick a read as I would like, but I'm enjoying it. I think the hard part is there are so many "other" beings! I am losing track of what/who everyone is! I just recently started reading paranormal books, so I think keeping track of all the other creatures and what they are is harder for me! I just read through the part that explained how (view spoiler)
I'm going to keep plugging along bit by bit! I've only got the book for 10 more days from the library so gotta get through it!
