No probs if not, just curious more than anything!

Happy Christmas week everyone. I hope you all had great holidays, enjoyed some family time and of course got a lot new reading material. :)

This week was, as expected, a bit more slow and a win for Team Marvel, due to Christina's recruitment of Bigby Wolf and Soila's recruitment of Rocket Raccoon.
Both teams acquired an Energy Cell.

Due to my new job and therefore less time, I couldn't go with the advent calendar model of revealing the heroes for the 2016 challenge as I would have liked to do.
But today I finally had enough time to put most of the challenge together. You can head over to this thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

There you can view the 12 DC and 12 Marvel heroes, pick your teams and already prepare for our first villain of the month, Penguin!
I haven't decided on the line-up of the portal heroes yet, but I will add them during January. Experience shows that they won't be a factor right away, so I concentrated on adding the challenges that we do need from the get go.
I hope everyone will have a lot of fun with the new challenge and reading with us next year.
I also want to thank everyone who participated this year for creating such a fun environment and experience and making this challenge something I really look forward to each week.
Enjoy the last days of 2015!

I did this the first year but their was not portal heroes or BOTMs that year so it was easier, essentially just an extra 36 books

Ok, I'm not going to finish another book before midnight at this point. So, post-DC, here's what I did this year that fit for the Marvel side of the challenge:

Spider-Man 0

Daredevil 1/3

2. Matt Murdock-- Truth or Dare James Patterson and Howard Roughan
Read a book with scales on the cover or an attorney as main protagonist.

Dr. Strange 1
*
1. Sorcerer Supreme– The Tempest William Shakespeare
Read a book with a mage/wizard on the cover or where a mage/wizard is one of the main protagonists.

Mr. Fantastic 2/3
*
1. First Family- Hope to Die James Patterson
Read a book with the number 4 (must be the number, not the written word) on the cover or where a father is one of the main protagonists.

2. Stretch– Piranha Clive Cussler and Boyd Morrison
Read a book with a character with elongated limbs on the cover or where an inventor is one of the main/side characters.

Invisible Woman

1. Force Field– I am Number Four Pittacus Lore
Read a book with a shield on the cover or where a character is able to shield others with force fields, telekinesis or by a similar power.

2. Susan Richards- 14th Deadly Sin James Patterson
Read a book with a mother (female character with a kid next to her) on the cover or where a mother is one of the main characters.

3. Flirt with Namor– Color Purple Alice Walker
Read a book with water on the cover or which has a love triangle in it.

Thing

1. Orange Skin– Heaven is For Real
Read a book with a predominantly orange cover or where a character gets turned into stone temporarily or permanently.

2. Benjamin Grimm- Star Wars: A New Dawn
Read a book with a space ship on the cover or where a pilot is one of the main characters.

3. It's clobberin time!- Acheron
Read a book with a brawl/fist fight on the cover or where characters get into a fist fight.

Human Torch 2/3
*
1. Flame On!- Wicked Charms Janet Evanovich
Read a book with fire on the cover or where a fire burns down a house/village/town.

2. Johnny Storm- Black Widow: Forever Red
Read a book with a blond male character on the cover or where the main character has siblings.

Punisher 2/3

1. Walking Armory– A Knight of Seven Kingdoms
Read a book with at least 3 different weapons on the cover or where a character carries around 3 or more weapons.

3. Battle Van- Day Shift Charlaine Harris
Read a book with a van/truck on the cover or where a character drives a van/truck.

Valkyrie 2/3

1. Armored Warrior– Civil War Stuart Moore
Read a book with an armored warrior on the cover or where a character wears armor plating/body.

3. Riding a winged horse- The Bridge Robert Knott
Read a book with a horse/pegasus on the cover or where the main character has a horse/pegasus.

Groot

1. Alien Tree– Green Man Ellen Datlow et al
Read a book with a tree on the cover or where a forest is one of the settings.

2. I am Groot!- Saint Odd Dean Koontz
Read a book with a plant in a pot on the cover or where one of the characters is mute or has trouble communicating (like Hodor trouble, not like teenagers being unable to talk about their feelings).

3. Guardian of the Galaxy– Dead Ice
Read a book with a galaxy panorama on the cover or where one of the main characters is a guard.

Deadpool

1. The Merc with a mouth– Kickback Ace Atkins
I want you to read a book with words on the cover (which are not part of the title/author/blurb publishing bits) or where the main character is annoyingly funny like me, Deadpool. I know that you're putting me into this challenge, dude!

2. Meta- I Am Number Four: Secret Files Lost Histories Pittacus Lore
Furthermore you should read a book with at least two blurbs on the cover, you know, to show everyone that the book is as awesome as I am or where the story is written in first person, so the hero is talking to you just like your favorite hero!

3. Hack, Slash– Support and Defend Tom Clancy
I like to kill stuff, so you should read a book with a lot blood on the cover, you know, the more the better or where one of the main characters kills at least over 9000 other people...what daya mean...too much...it's my fricking challenge...sigh, okay where the main character kills at least over 9 people, content now?

Also, thanks for organising this year's challenge again, enjoyed taking part for a second time even if my tally of 24 books didn't quite match up to many others ha. Looking forward to next years :D

So, this is the official end of the 2015 DC versus Marvel challenge. In the final week Team DC finished with a bang.
Roger recruited Jackie Estacado and defeated Mr. Sinister, while Wayland added Jackie to his roster as well. Martian Manhunter was also recruited by Christina and Clarkiep.
For Team Marvel Soila added Invisible Woman to her roster.
Team DC also added a final Energy Cell to their portal count.

And this years challenge was an even bigger success than last year's Avengers vs. X-Men challenge.
In 2014 the participants scored for a total of 1273 points and this year's combined points 1756 blew that number out of the water. In addition to that we also had 170 Energy Cells.

So, congratulations to Team Marvel for taking the win this year and thank you all for your dediated participation! :)

Thank YOU so much for organising and running this challenge for the entire year, Mpauli. It (and you!) is a really wonderful addition to the group and I find it so fun to work out what I want to read to fit in with the challenge, and it's also satisfying when you manage to recruit or defeat a character by accident ;) I'm sure many agree!

Best of luck to all for 2016's challenge!
