Glad to help.

message 53: by Loraine (new)

Loraine (librarydiva) | 4439 comments Definitely considered a classic Staci!

Here is the standard definition: Classic literature is a collective term for works of literature that transcend time and culture to have a universal appeal. Such novels, short stories and poetry remain relevant through time. They are recognized for their artistic merit, quality and often for their groundbreaking nature.

Thanks Loraine!

I'm going to go with the 50 year guideline as that is easier to remember and apply.

Glad with have this challenge help thread!

message 55: by Loraine (new)

Loraine (librarydiva) | 4439 comments Staci - that 50 year guideline is a pretty good standard although there are some beyond that would be classified as classics. Here is the link to the classics list at Goodreads:

Thanks Loraine! Interesting! I see some more current novels, such as The Kite Runner listed. Thanks for sharing the link.

You're welcome. I will probably be using it as well as I haven't read any classics yet this year. Keep hoping life will slow down, but it sure doesn't seem to do that.

Winter (c73sakura) | 148 comments Thanks for all the bicycle recs.! Now I have a good amount to choose from when the time comes :D

Thanks for all the bicycle recommendations! Although it wasn't my request, I benefitted from them too. :-)

For this month's cover up challenge, it's a woman's dress on the cover. Does the entire dress need to show or is a portion of the dress ok too?

For example, this appears to be a dress and based on the time period likely is, but the full length isn't shown. It could also be a skirt and shirt.
To Steal a Heart (The Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency, #1) by Jen Turano

message 60: by Andrea, Hospitality Coordinator (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 6243 comments Mod
Portions should be fine. I would see if you can find one that's a dress rather than blouse and skirt combination, since the task is a dress. But if it's a partial dress shown on the cover, I would think such a thing would be acceptable.

Charlene | 595 comments Hey Everyone,

next month the author of the month is Linda Byler can anyone help me with recommendations as I’m unsure where to start as she is a new author to me.

message 63: by Staci, Book Awards Specialist (new)

Staci | 3864 comments Mod
Linda Byler is a new to me author as well. Knowing she was one of this year's authors, I read this one a few months ago:

Banished by Linda Byler

It was good.

The author has a number of published novels so I look forward to hearing from readers that have read several of hers.

I've noticed that information showing in the book details on Amazon. Another reader may have a better answer, but that is where I've found it.
