I needed a physical book to take ot the beach so started We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves.I have several books on my shelves that I need to read for challenges but of course this isn't one of them!!
Under Pressure is the second in the Lucas Page thriller series by Robert Pobi. Chemistry, physics, and brain-power vs money and thugs. Good read!
4.5★ Link to my Under Pressure review
I hope, I hope, I hope some little girls will be inspired by Corazon Aquino and her passion for democracy! The Philippines needs her kind again. Thanks Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara for another great addition to the Little People BIG IDEAS series.

I'm reading
Death with a Dark Red Rose by Julia Buckley and I just finished listening to
Recursion by Blake Crouch
I just finished The Night Agent by Matthew QuirkHighly recommend if you like fast paced writing, action packed, and some decent twists along the way. This is the second of Quirks books that I’ve read, I read Hour of the Assassin earlier in the year.
I’m starting The Nickel Boys on Monday and I’ve heard some good things about it!
Finished A Traveller at the Gates of Wisdom
by John BoyneMy Review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/3455242212
Fantastic 2005 best-seller! The Glass Castle is an outstanding memoir by Jeannette Walls, who was lucky to make it to adulthood, more or less intact, despite her neglectful, nutty parents.

I hated Glass Castle. I did not feel Walls showed her parents respect or love. I really dislike it when people belittle those with mental illness. Mental illness deserves to be treated with sympathy not as a platform for self aggrandizing.( Not sure if that is the right word)
I'm now a fan of Kate Daniels, created by Ilona AndrewsMy reviews for
Magic Strikes #3www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3479061345
and for Magic Mourns

But the still loved their parents.
I think it's important that we know that there are parents like this who are raising children very much in harm's way. It was only really luck that they survived. Not all little kids are so smart and enterprising!
This was a most delightful change of pace from reading thrillers during a pandemic. The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune is Peter Pan in 1984. Both worrying and charming. Absolutely loved it!

I recently started Norwegian Wood
by Haruki Murakami. It's very quiet and leisurely in pace so far, but he uses descriptive language so beautifully that it's captured my full attention. It's almost poetic at times.
Things are heating up in the world of Kate Daniels, created by Ilona Andrews -

Got it recommended in another group, and I'm really liking it thus far. The reader has a really nice voice, and the prose is amazing :)
From Ilona Andrews, two really good Kate Daniels novels set in an alternate future in Atlanta
Magic Slays #5My review: www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3483301346

Finished The Enchanted April by Elizabeth von ArnimMy Review:www.goodreads.com/review/show/3479149498
From Ilona Andrews, 2 more in the Kate Daniels series -
Magic Rises #6 - I had a few quibbles with this one, but I liked the major advancement in the overall story arc of Kate's mission. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3487219651
Magic Steals #6.5 - can be read as a standalone adventure with Dali Harimau and Jim Shrapshire. This was my introduction to the KD books. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3487225819
I just finished The Night Swim
. It was really good, but I don't recommend it if you have a difficult time reading about rape or assault. I'm starting The Switch
for something lighter.
I'm currently reading The Story of My Life by Helen Keller, and her writing style is amazing! The fluidity and description she packs into each sentence is honestly astonishing. It's a short read (around 150 pages long), so if you have some free time, I recommend it!
Left Neglected by Lisa Genova. Good book! I also watched her 3 part interview on YouTube and ordered the Julia Fox Garrison ( the lady with the condition that Lisa kept asking for details about) book that she mentioned in her interview. fascinating story
Small Magics is an anthology by Ilona Andrews. Fans of the Kate Daniels universe will want this book just because "Curran's POV" is about 40 percent of it.My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3489106953
It's no secret I'm partial to Sir Robert Carey and his Elizabethan escapades, and I loved An Air of Treason, number 6 in P.F. Chisholm's historical mystery series.

I'm reading Coraline
by Neil Gaiman. I hope Neil Gaiman is as good as people say he is, he has already provided such a great quote before the story itself.
"Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten."
just finished Nobody's Baby but Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. My review with 3.5 ⭐rating

It's nonfiction, but it has all the elements from the mystery/ thriller genre - a villain with a shadowy cabal, power, money, sex crimes, and espionage. Recommended.
