I have an air fryer and use it all the time. I have not used it for baking but on You Tube, there are ideas for baking and cooking. The air fryer does not heat up the kitchen like the oven. Our state fair begins in a couple of weeks and I love to see the baking areas. Always lots of chocolate chip cookies.

Melindam | 4427 comments Thank you for the tip, Leona. We also have an air fryer, though it would've never occured to me to use it for baking. :)

Kristie | 5928 comments I also have an air fryer, but I never really use it. I need to come up with some good recipes for it and give it a fair shot.

I also tried the instant pot and didn't love it like everyone else seems to. I think there is a learning curve and I always felt like you there was more effort & cleanup afterwards. Everything I could make in it I could make just as easily without it. I did come up with one delicious recipe that I used to use it for, but it was carb heavy and when I had to change my diet I couldn't eat it anymore. It was a lot of effort to make it anyway.

Leona (mnleona) | 179 comments I have travel guides and some I find at thrift stores. They help me in finding new places and also in my genealogy research. I look for books in the areas I find interesting from the travel guides.
It is another day (in Minnesota) of heat and humidity. Not lasting as long as those in states like Texas.
Stay safe.

Good for you. I have been lucky to win quite a few. I am also on LibraryThing and I think doing reviews helps.
What book did you win?

message 1668: by Tammy (last edited Aug 26, 2023 01:46PM) (new)

Tammy | 31 comments I had won Amazing Grace Adams Amazing Grace Adams by Fran Littlewood byFran Littlewood, I have won some books in previous years but this was the first this year. Maybe because I only entered for print versions. Leona I do write short reviews, and I am careful not to write any spoilers.

I saw this one but did not enter. I only enter the print also because the books "stare" at me and I forget the ones on my Kindle. Enjoy the read.

Adora | 36 comments I am making my own Bookish Advent Calendar this year. I am buying 25 books and will wrap them up, picking a random one for every day in December, including Christmas day.

But I don't think I will do this next year. What I want to know is, if you could create your own bookish Advent Calendar, what would you buy for it? Books? Accessories? Both?

Inquiring minds want to know. Thank you.

Fun to read.
Today is my daughter's birthday and we are all going to the Minnesota State Fair, a family tradition. She is 58; where does time go?

Christine- My daughter had a laugh when I told her about your countdown and said that is a lot of work.
Watching FOX and the hurricane Idalia. Pray all are safe. The line workers are heroes as far am I am concerned to be ready to work on the electrical lines.
Have a good day,

I was just saying this to a friend yesterday. My godson is getting married and he's the youngest of our (my friend's and mine) children. It's so unbelievable to me how quickly the time flies by. So glad you had a wonderful day.

Prayers sent. FOX has done a good job of covering the storm It looks like people took the warning and went to shelters. It is still a problem and a storm.
Stay safe.

Leona (mnleona) | 179 comments I woke up to thunder this morning. I live about an hour north of Minneapolis/St. Paul and looks like they did not get the rain.
Tomorrow is the last day of the Minnesota State Fair and it is supposed to be hot. On Tuesday, we went as a family (my 5 kids, a grandaughter and 3 great grandkids) to celebreate my daughter's birthday. A tradition in my family.

message 1697: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Instead of us getting all the rain (I didn't have to water my garden once this spring and summer because of the constant rain) I wish Maiu had gotten it... Have fun at the fair, Melindam.

September! I wish it was the start of spring again. Oh well...

message 1698: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments I love spring too, Groovy. I enjoy spring, summer, fall, then the holiday stuff in November and December. January and February are always the toughest for me. It's cold and dark... ugh. Some time in March I can start to see the spring getting ready to come around again.

This must be so different for those in the Southern hemisphere getting ready to start their spring.

message 1699: by Leona (new)

Leona (mnleona) | 179 comments Good morning. It will be in the high 90s today.

message 1700: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Around the last week of March is when we see Spring finally breaking through here! I agree with you, Kristie. Winter is THE hardest for me, cold and dark, stuck inside a cold house for most of the day, coats, socks and boots, gloves, I mean the list goes on...did I mention the COLD!

Leona, I'm going to enjoy these last days of 90 degree weather!
