We did not go out on the Skywalk because we weren't really close to it. We are thinking that we may go back some day and do that. Plus, we want to go into the basin for a river tour and to see the Native American historical parts.

BYW Thanks for managing this discussion group. I don't comment much but I do read people's posts.

This was also my first time there and we were also on the south rim. :) I also felt it was emotional, awe-inspiring.

My dad works for a university. They refurbish and sell off surplus computers for cheap, So we will visit and save some cash that way.

Oh man the snafu we had getting our new computer up and running. It is refurbished, formerly used by the university where my dad works. The original model however does not have a built in wi-fi adapter and was not compatible with one. Therefore, we had to hard wire it to get it going. It is awesome, though, because we now have a working computer...meaning I can totally nerd out before or after work, on my days off! This does not stink!

Absolutely! I spent a good few hours last night playing catch up. Did more this morning when I woke up and did some more discussion questions. I also managed to begin my next book, which I am now 40 pages in on.

I am crocheting a Granny square blanket (actually 3 of them) and I have already made some of the squares with a color of over 90*.

The Granny square blanket is a temperature blanket and I am using where I live in Minnesota. I did two a few years ago, one for my daughter in Minnesota and one for my granddaughtr in Ft. Worth. It is easier to do these 3 than the 2 seperate areas.
I won another book from GR. I am trying to finish one this week that I won so I can do the review.

We're expecting more storms this evening. My grand is only visiting for a little over three weeks this year and we have been stuck inside most of the time so far. So frustrating! Now it is expected to be hot and stormy. So it is either 90*F and super humid or having thunder storms. I really hope we have some decent weather during the times we have things planned. We kept pumping him up about all the fun stuff we have planned for his shorter visit this summer and so far we haven't done anything really.

Kristie, maybe y'all can do some fun indoor stuff while your grandson is visiting. I know just having him there is fun enough for you:)

I have never heard of a reading scarf and I do a lot of reading.
On my Granny square temp blankets, I make the first round the low temp of the day, the second round has the high temp of the day, and the third round is the main color that connets the squares and I also use for the border. I am using white but I have seen it done with black and that is pretty. I also make a square of white to seperate each month. The pattrn came for Fiber Flux. She has high of the day, the first round but I changed mine and I changed some of her colors.

I had lunch with my kids and 3 granddaughters yesterday. One of the girls had a birthday and she is now 23.
I went to 2 thrift stores looking for audio books which I could not find.
Rain today.
Have a good day.

It's so nice to spend time with family. I'm glad you enjoyed your day. And that's why I LOVE Amazon and online shopping. I'm too old and tired to go to 2 or 3 different stores looking for stuff--LOL!

I went shopping with my daughter yesterday after we had lunch and it is a reminder I need to get on my treadmill more.
Travis- How is the computer working for you? I know you were having problems.

I do a different stitch based on format (audio=single, ebook=half double, and physical=double).
Different colors are based on genres (eg. mystery=blue, romance=pink, etc). I just choose the top genre, since books often overlap.
Then, I do 1 row per 100 pages. So, if a book is up to 100 pages, I stitch one row. For 101-200 pages, 2 rows, etc.
So, for example if I read a paperback book in the Historical Fiction genre and it was 324 pages, I would add 4 rows of double crochet in green. I am reading more than I expected this year and think I am going to have a super long scarf (If I ever finish it!). lol I may have to split it into two scarves. haha

I love the reading scarf idea. This is the first I've heard of it and a temperature blanket.

There is a lady on You Tube I watch (nonna rosanna) and she crochets each month the colors from a book cover. I really like both of the ideas. Thanks for the info.
I am trying to play catch-up on the temp blankets so I can do some other needlework.

Thanks, Leona! I think it will be a lot of fun.

Yes, should be interesting! lol
