My dog of thirteen years passed away the other day. I am completely heartbroken. Those fur babies are a part of the family. And extra special.

I'm so sorry Tammy. I know how hard it is, our furr babies are part of our family, We lost one of our pups in 2019 and lost another one in 2020. Both were elderly and had tumors/cancer. We just rescued a pup from the shelter in Dec of 2021. I just was so depressed not having a pup in our lives I had to go rescue one and bring her home.

thank you, everyone, Jojo it is great of you to rescue another dog. We also have a dog that is 12 years old, my husband says after her he doesn't want anymore because it hurts too much when we lose them.

i can relate to this. Some years ago when "Sandy" developed heart problems and had to be euthanized, my husband could not do it and so my son and I took him to the vet.

I'm happy y'all are happy. It just means the cold weather is on its way, and I won't be able to sit outside at night for the next 6 months, but stuck inside, and the house is cold for most of the day to keep my heating bill low, no flowers, no summer wear, and so on and so on. I think you get it--LOL! Thanks for letting me vent--LOL!

I dislike cold, but when I spent 4 years in Ottawa, ON (the second coldest federal capital in the entire world, the coldest one being in Mongolia) after 2 years I finally started finding things to do so I hated it less. Plus my boyfriend at the time bought me a pair of skates for Christmas so we could skate on the Rideau canal. FYI in Canada skating rink means ice, and you only use an adjective if it's roller skating or for a certain sport. The same for skates unless for some reason social media has led to increasing Americanism this way as it has with some other other Canadianisms.

But it's warm to hot in the summer!!!!! And beautiful when the leaves are changing. And even in the winter the temperature can yoyo like crazy.

We don't do much decorating for autumn and wait a long time to put our our Christmas ones. However, for the first time I just kept our Christmas tree up all year since it's fake but took down everything else. Before this I used to have it up no more than 2 weeks because my husband would cut or buy a real tree. I don't think I'll keep the tree up for another whole year, though.

I used to go get a tree and decorate the first Saturday in December when my kids were younger, but I’ve been decorating later and later since they moved out. I’m going to try to do it the weekend after Thanksgiving this year though.

I stopped putting up and taking down decorations when I realized 1. I was the only one who cared and 2. I was the only one doing it!

I did the same thing for a couple of years, D. Plus, we visit our kids out of state, so we don't even enjoy the decorations on Christmas. This year, I deiced that I am going to decorate because I do enjoy it if I do it early enough and it will probably be nice for our pet/house sitter to have the decorations up.

A few of them, Groovy. Mad Honey for fiction, The Golden Couple for mystery/thriller, The Bodyguard for romance, Upgrade for science fiction, A Flicker in the Dark for debut, I Must Betray You for YA fiction...

There were a few categories that were difficult because I had read multiple books that were really good, especially the mystery/thriller genre. I read 7 books in that category and enjoyed them all. I don't think I gave any of them less than 4 stars.

How about you? Did you vote for anything? Anything you were happy to see included? I was really happy to see The Bodyguard there.

Kristie, I haven't had the time to read as much as I want to. I plan to get back into it as soon as I get my life back organized. I write suspense/thrillers but I'm so drawn to Biographies, History, and Children's books. I'm open to any good mystery/thriller books you'd like to suggest.

I also voted for I Must Betray You. There was nothing I loved that I read in SciFi this year, but I voted for Sea of Tranquility since I was less disappointed with Mandel than I was with Crouch. Both only got 3 stars from me, but I didn't want to vote for scifi I haven't read and may never get to.
