Thanks Kristie!!! A lot has been going on here and like the old saying goes, when it rains it pours. Hopefully things will get back to normal if there is such a thing anymore.
How exciting : ) Although I do not envy you with all that sanding lol but it will be beautiful when you are done. I like the lighter colors of stain especially the ones that are close to the natural wood color. Those four weeks until your grandson arrives will go quickly. I know you are going to have lots of fun with him.
Congratulations!!!!!! OHHHH Kristie that's fantastic and exciting!!! I say go for that Pickleball tourney!!! If nothing else it will be a learning experience and lots of fun. But I would be like you, sqawking like a chicken. I don't like public speaking or anything that puts me at the center of an audience's attention.
I'm not a big sports person, as far as playing. I've just never been that athletic. I like more leisure sports at my own pace like swimming, walking etc LOL My body, especially now, just can't handle being that active due to health conditions.
We will be here cheering you on if you decided to go to the tourney. We wil be your biggest fans, besides your family of course : )🥳

I'm so bad about it. lol I'm very outgoing around my friends and I have even been front and center running some events, but somehow that is different.
When I got married we took a cruise down to an island and got married on the beach. I thought it sounded so wonderful. It wasn't until I was all dressed that I realized I would have to walk through the cruise ship in my dress to get to the car! I was SO uncomfortable. My friend kept telling me that it was my big day and I should just enjoy it, but if I could have teleported to the beach I would have! I practically ran to the car. Of course, a few people stopped to tell me how beautiful I looked (as I ran by, haha). Little did they know that it made me want to melt into a puddle on the floor. lol

Kristie, I hope you and your grandson have lots and lots of summer fun. We can feel your excitement every year when he comes to spend time with you. And all the best on the Pickle ball tournament!! That sounds like fun.
Christine, good for you. I wish you so much fun in being a social butterfly.
The French Open is here. That's one of my main sports I'm enjoying right now.

Thanks Christine!!! I'm rarely a social butterfly but hope you are having lots of fun : )
HEY Groovy!!! Good to see you : ) Was wondering and hoping you were ok. I'm resting and relaxing as much as possible. Seems like there is always SOMETHING to do lol Enjoy the French Open!!!
I totally get it Kristie!!! Just some situations are different triggers for us to want to run and hide.
We didn't do anything today. No celebrating for us. We just carried on like any other day. My oldest son went to the Renaissance Festival and he said it was hot and miserable with all the walking. Glad I stayed home. I tried to catch up on some reading for my challenges since it is the end of the month. Getting ready for all the June ones LOL
Hope June 1st comes in with all the bells and whistles of being a good month for all of us : )

Robin, do you know what we did on Memorial Day? Cleaned out the refrigerator--LOL. Now it's time to tackle the garage--which means cleaning out the junk and putting up shelves. I couldn't agree with you more. It seems like every time you turn around, there's something to do or fix. I'm tired...
And Kristie, I know you and your husband will enjoy that new look of your deck. Have fun lounging on it this summer with your favorite drinks.

Cool! The first time I heard about pickleball was when I was watching a sitcom this past so thought it was one of the jokes, but I learned soon after that that it's a real sport and that's it's been around since 1965. How is it that I'd never heard of it before? The fact that pickle is in the name is why I though it was a joke
I'd like to say that this is the first time this has happened, but no, it happened to me a couple of years ago when my daughter was going to go with her then boyfriend to play disc golf, and it turns out that at least one of my ultimate frisbee (so that was new to me about 8 years ago, and it's not new, and one of my nephews has travelled the world with that on Canadian national teams) playing nieces/nephews plays it (at least 3 have been serious players in Canada--two chose their universities partly based on this,) but only one at the national level.)
I wonder what other 50-60ish year old sports are out there in Canada and the States that I've never heard about (yes, racket ball and that other one that seems nearly the same to me)
It must be obvious to you that I am not a jock nor do I follow sports closely.

I don't know where the name Pickleball came from, but it does sound silly. I only started hearing about it a few years ago too and didn't really have any interest in it initially. It's really fun though. It's a smaller court than tennis, so I think it's easier.

LOL although I didn't clean out the refrigerator, I did clean out Jr and Jace's clothes. They are growing up so fast. I didn't realize they had that many they had out grown. Thought I better get it done since it is now shorts weather and they will be here more during the summer. UGGHHHH another fun chore...the garage. I am so not jealous of you lol Having shelves is always nice...too bad it isn't book shelves snickering
Karin and Kristie...I am assuming that disc golf is what we call Frisbee golf or Frolf. Both Jason and Josh(sons) love to play that. Jason played on a team his last 2 maybe 3 years of high school. I haven't played but I have watched them play. A lot of parks and public rec areas are set up for players.
YEP that's me too Karin. I'm not a jock nor do I follow sports closely. I like swimming in the summer just to soak, relax, lounge, cool off LOL not for doing any type of fancy breast stroke competitive laps type thing.
I think it's great to see adults 30+ yrs old out enjoying sports, whatever ones it may be, and having fun.

Today was my day off so I actually cleaned out my fridge today. It's funny how when I have a day off from work I end up doing chores around the house, never really have a full day to rest it seems. I will make time today to read though I'm trying to finish the audiobook version of To Kill a Mockingbird. I only have two hours more to complete it and it's the first time I've read it.

Enjoy that book!

The Host, Jenny Wheeler, is in New Zealand and interviews famous authors and not so famous authors. I've heard interviews with lots of my favorites and found lots of new books as well. Just wanted to pass it on...

I absolutely love it. I will never buy ice cream from the store again. My daughter and I have fun making flavors together, and she's not even an ice cream person. Now I can have lime, cheesecake, and even apple pie ice cream anytime I want, when I want, and in sanitary conditions. Actually, the recipes are endless. And it tastes just like ICE CREAM!
If you love ice cream, or just like it, I recommend this. It's worth the price.
I know. I sound like a commercial.
Hope everyone is doing okay.

I had a fun day today. I played in a Pickleball tournament (came in fourth out of four teams in our division. lol) and took my dogs for a short hike and swim in the evening. :) Definitely got my steps in today! Lots of sunshine and physical activity makes for one tired lady here! I may have to go to bed early.

Yes, it's called frisbee golf in Canada, but I first heard about it long after I moved to the States. Later I found out that some of my nieces and nephews have played it, although Ultimate Frisbee is more popular.
One of my nephews has been both a professional ultimate frisbee player in Vancouver and played for Team Canada in both age groups. A couple of my nieces have narrowed their university choices to ones where they have university teams (how my nephew honed his skills).

I know for me, with gas as high as it is, my summer fun will be at home putting in a new floor, and garage, and staying out of the extreme heat. Of course, I have to go and see the new Jurassic movie. But that's the extent of my fun--LOL!

For those celebrating Independence Day in the US, have a safe and happy holiday weekend!

Does anyone know a book where the protagonist has a fear of growing up? Like someone who is a teen who is apprehensive of responsibilities and emerging adulthood and mostly just knowing that she can't always be with her family.

Afreen did you check on the listopia section? Maybe coming of age or such selections might help.
