Carol Dobson | 22 comments Have been watching the wonderful scandi-noir series- The Killing (Forbrydelsen). In Danish with sub titles it stars Sofie Grabol as Sarah Lund. Absolutely gripping and suspenseful. Before that I watched The Bridge, again in Danish with sub-titles, starring Sofia Helin. Again, a wonderful series, if somewhat gruesome, and at times, very sad.

Carol Dobson | 22 comments No fireworks here this weekend. Are you sure you want to abandon us? It's never too late to change your mind!

Kristie | 5928 comments We had a really nice day. :) We went out for breakfast. Then, we went for a hike through the woods that comes out at this little beach area. The dogs (we have 3) and our grandson played in the water and had a lot of fun. Now the hubby has taken G to see the fireworks. I'm home with the puppy since it is her first time experiences 4th of July and I don't want her to be scared of the fireworks if we leave her home alone. Fortunately, none of our animals are afraid of them and I want to keep it that way if we can.

Groovy Lee Good for you, Kristie. That sounds like a full day of fun. My daughter and I sat outside and watched the fireworks from all the neighbors surrounding us. When it was over, it looked like a war zone when all was over, but it was nice to see the fireworks.

BTW, your new avatar looks nice. I hope everyone else enjoyed their day.

Kristie | 5928 comments Thanks, Groovy. I thought the avatar was fun. I cut my hair off recently and the cartoon drawing was of my after pic.

Kristie | 5928 comments I've been looking forward to the Olympics this year, Groovy. It's going to be strange though with empty stands. I hope not no other athletes will have to pull out due to Covid.

Go, team USA! (Sorry y'all! lol)

Groovy Lee So far, so good, Kristie. Everything seems to be going smoothly. But my most favorite moment of the opening ceremony was when the emblem came to life and posed all of the sports events. I absolutely loved it.

Congratulations, Gemma! Great question! Nothing immediately pops into my head, so I'd have to think on it a bit. I hope you get some great suggestions.

Groovy Lee Have a safe weekend, Everyone. If you can, hug your loved ones. And as I always say: Be the reason someone smiles today.

Do you know how much evil would cease to exist if everyone lived by this one simple phrase?

Can't help much with the reading - my cynical old mind immediately goes to the opening lines of Pride and Prejudice.

I went to the lab for blood tests today and there was a sign up that said "kindness is contagious". It certainly made me smile.

Jan Underwood | 7 comments Christine wrote: "HAPPY SEPTEMBER EVERYONE!"

I just finished an Ursula LeGuin book, as part of my yearslong project to read her entire body of work. The book I just read was "Changing Planes," a collection of interconnected short stories. The "planes" are literal airplanes but also, of course, because it's Ursula LeGuin, metaphysical planes. The narrator visits different "planes" of existence and tells us anecdotes about them. The stories are basically ethnologies of fictitious cultures, which are entertaining in themselves and also usually make a subtle commentary on our own culture.

Groovy Lee Tomorrow I go for my first covid vaccine shot. I waited this long because I wanted to see if the world would turn into the Walking Dead first. Now I want to do my part in not draining the hospital resources since things are only getting worse, and they say it's mainly because of those not vaccinated.

HAVE A SAFE WEEKEND, EVERYONE!
