Some of my sisters and I bought my mom a special vase for mother's day. It has nine flowers painted on it for each of her kids, and two blue birds for her miscarriages <3

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, EVERYONE!!!!There are some very beautiful honorable mentions to moms here. And for all of you who had wonderful mothers, GOOD FOR YOU. There's nothing like unconditional love from mothers. Where would we be without them.
I didn't have a mom. So I missed out on what all of you were blessed with. But I'd like to think I am a good one--if you hear my daughter tell it:) She makes me feel as if it's mother's day everyday--that's how much I've been blessed. She's also my hole digger for my garden so I can continue to plant (she has the strongest knees)
I know your moms appreciated you celebrating them.
What did your kids do for you?
And good for you, Christine!!
Esther - I can't wait for my mom to be able to get hers replaced. I'm glad your mother's recovery went so well. Too funny that she was disappointed in not having all that extra reading time. lolMargaret - That is a beautiful idea. It's so special. I bet she loved it.
Yay, Christine! You are almost there.
So sorry for your loss, Phoenix. It sounds like you had a nice day honoring her.
Groovy - I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day and were able to spend it with your daughter. My daughters live in NH and I'm in VA, so I didn't get to see them, but we chatted. They were just here with my grandson visiting a couple of weeks ago for my birthday. I'm very blessed to have them. ❤️
Okay, I just have to tell this one. Hopefully it will put a smile on everyone's face:Why do melons have weddings? Because they Cantaloupe!!!

Oh, that's terrible! lol 😂 It made me smile.

LOL!

My mother had physical therapy three days a week, I hope she isn't too tired to read.
I still feel a bit confused about the system here. but anyway, I am back to the community now. Hope we could have a more close book club group so we can share some reading tips. btw I am from China.
Happy June Christine. And Happy National Runner's Day, Everyone!
Boy, I remember those days. I was a natural runner, the fastest in school, my little awards. I used to run from one end of my small country town to the other. It was fun. I would give anything to be that youthful and able to run like that again. Oh the memories! But back to reality--LOL.
How are the Cicada's treating y'all? Kristie, do they have you running from house to car yet? We're not getting them here in the South, thank goodness.Have a safe, fun weekend!!
We haven't gotten them here! It looks like they will be staying north of us, at least for the most part. I was expecting to be dodging by now!
I'm in the South as well and I'm so glad to not have to hear the cicada screeching mating call just yet. Is it possible they won't show up at all this Summer?
JoJo_theDoDo wrote: "I'm in the South as well and I'm so glad to not have to hear the cicada screeching mating call just yet. Is it possible they won't show up at all this Summer?"That's what I'm hoping! Or at least that we have just a few instead of being swarmed. So far we've been lucky.
I think I heard on the news that they will make their appearance in the upper states only??? I hope that's what I heard. We'll see.
Yes, I know in northern Virginia they are supposed to have them, but I'm just south of Richmond. I might be just a little south of where they are. *Fingers crossed!*
I have added to my garden this year. :) I now have blueberry, raspberry, and blackberry plants potted. I'm not much of a gardener really, but I'm a bit excited about them and hope they grow properly. It would be really nice to eventually get some berries from them.
I planted zucchini and it's growing good so far. I was going to plant some carrots soon as well. I've never tried growing any fruits before.
The fruits are new for me too. I planted strawberries one year a long time ago, but they were the wrong variety and super tiny. I have tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers, and a new herb garden. I usually just do basil, but this year I planted basil, oregano, parsley, rosemary, and thyme. This is my second time trying eggplant. The first time I got a lot of flowers, but they never developed into eggplants. I'm hoping to do better this time. I also planted some marigolds for something extra. This is a lot more than I typically do.
Good for the both of you. I tried planted vegetables one year, but they grew in funny, and my daughter could not bring herself to eat them. So I stuck to growing flowers. They're all coming in very well so far. All the rain we're having helps. Also, the Shake-N-Feed by Miracle Grow is a miracle. My bushes are thriving. How do you keep the wildlife from eating your produce, especially the berries?
Oh...HAPPY BEST FRIENDS' DAY!!!
We have loads of deer, so my whole garden is potted and on my porch. We have a raised bed with the herb garden in it, then a bunch of pots around it with the other plants and the marigolds in a box that hangs off the back of the porch. There isn't much room for people any more. lolHappy best friend's day!!
Good morning, everyone. Sorry for not talking in quite a while. I hope everyone’s ok. 😊 Yesterday, we got our van back from the repair shop - after two weeks! Now we don’t have to depend on folks anymore to drive us to church and back. And what’s more, my mom’s baby will come in August. We’re all looking forward to the arrival of baby #12! 😊 BTW, if y’all got anything you want me to pray about for you, don’t be scared to say so. You don’t have to say what your prayer request is.
Thank you, Groovy. We’re very excited for the baby to come. We don’t even know what its gender is - we like to be surprised! 😀 We’ve got six girls and five boys, so I reckon it’ll be uneven this time (unless we get boy number six!).
Planted some carrots and soybeans (edamame) today! I'm so glad it's summer already. I don't enjoy the heat and humidity, but I enjoy having my kids at home and everyone getting to sleep in a little later in the mornings. Sometimes it's just the small blessings that count so much!
I hear ya, JoJo. I just planted a garden to attract hummingbirds and butterflies. I don't enjoy the humidity either, but I'd take that over freezing winter, being stuck indoors, and heavy coats anytime. I get to sit outdoors until 2 in the morning:)I hope your garden blooms and brings a good bounty to your table.
Good for y'all, Christine. I hope all of you have a lot of summer fun in it.Our Homeowner's Assoc. don't allow swimming pools in the backyards--Really? They don't help pay the property taxes, but make rules about what you can and cannot have back there. Sorry, I got worked up for a moment:)
That sounds wonderful, Christine! Homeowner's Associations can be a real hassle, Groovy. It would bother me to have someone tell me what I can and can't do on my own property that I pay for. Easy to get worked up about that.

Seriously? One of the the least annoying noises from our neighbours is their children splashing around in the pool.
I’ve recently started a mystery series by Deborah Crombie that I’m enjoying very much . American author writer who writes about contemporary England. Mostly police procedural but loads of other story lines too. My favorite so far has been Dreaming of the Bones which takes place in Cambridge & Grantchester.
Kristie, you mean you're one of the lucky ones that don't have to abide by and pay yearly fees to a Homeowner's Assoc.? Good for you!I agree, Esther. I'd rather deal with that than the 2am barks of the neighbors' dogs being let out.
Yes, Groovy. It was one of the things we looked at when purchasing. We've heard too many horror stories. I have a friend with bad knees who has to put her trash cans behind the house so they can't be seen from the road. Then, she has to lug them to the corner every trash day. She wanted to leave them by the side of her house (where they would still hardly be seen because she lives on a cul-de-sac with trees in that area) and was told no because it would be unsightly so the rules say they need to be stored behind her house or in her garage. Apparently, no cares that she needs knee surgery. The rules can not bend.
Oh my goodness, Kristie. Poor woman. You'd think they'd appoint someone to do that for her since she's paying fees. Horror stories, Kristie? Please don't tell me that--LOL!
