fra | 23 comments Recently I saw "Inception" and I loved it! The plot was really interesting, the cinematography was breath-taking and the casting was ON POINT. I especially liked Cillian Murphy in his role. Did you watch it? And what did you think of it? Let me know :)

Kristie | 5928 comments I saw Inception years ago, fra. I remember it as being interesting and mind-bending, but really don't remember much about it now. I'd probably have to watch it again in order to be able to comment. I do like Cillian Murphy, so I'm sure he was excellent.

We saw Inception at the cinema and loved it. I have watched it several times since.
The most surreal was when I watched during a flight, we experienced some serious turbulence while I was watching the corridor scene and it felt like I was floating in the air with them!

message 558: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee It certainly made a big impression on my daughter. I don't remember a lot about it, either. But it's free on ROKU, so I'll take another look at it. Even Lil' Wayne imitated it in one of his videos.

HAVE A SAFE, PRODUCTIVE WEEKEND, EVERYONE!

Kristie | 5928 comments Thanks, Groovy!

I had a great day today. My daughters and my grandson flew down for the weekend to spend my birthday with me. My hubby set it up. :) I'm so happy to see them all. I didn't think I would see them until June! I'm really looking forward to enjoying a couple of days with them.

The app is very limited, Mama. It is definitely easier to use a laptop. Basically, I would just suggest looking around the site. Click on threads and see what's there. Welcome!

Someone recommended Catherine the Great: Portrait of a Woman by Robert K. Massie. I have purchased it and hope to get started on it sometime in May.

Groovy Lee HAPPY MAY, CHRISTINE!!!!

The days here are getting warmer, but it's raining like crazy. Which is good for my garden.

message 579: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments I picked up a couple of seedlings for my garden, but was just thinking that we are going to have the cicadas here soon. I'll probably have to keep my pots in my screen porch until after they're gone again. I am not looking forward to the swarms of big, noisy bugs (or their shed skins) that'll be here for a few weeks.

message 580: by JoJo_theDodo (new)

JoJo_theDodo | 320 comments I moved from the West to the South about 6 years ago and I remember the first time I heard a Cicada. I was like, "What the hell is that scary screeching noise!"
It was explained to me what it was and that it makes that awful sound all summer long. I've gotten used to the sound and I'm just glad that they don't bite like the pesky mosquitos do.
I recently planted some zucchini in my little garden. It's my first time planting it out South, hoping it will grow well enough. I'm really not much of a green thumb.

sonya marie madden | 259 comments I’m getting my second COVID vaccine tomorrow and I’m nervous for the side effects.

message 582: by Groovy (last edited May 05, 2021 11:03AM) (new)

Groovy Lee I haven't heard anything about the cicadas coming here this summer. Hopefully they won't. Whenever they do, it's a lot of running and dodging when you go outside; keeping your car windows up so they won't fly in. One time I had to pull off to the side of the interstate trying to keep my calm.

This year, I'm replanting the edge of my backyard with Rose of Sharon bushes for privacy (nosy neighbors). And I'm also planting shrubs and flowers that will attract hummingbirds and butterflies. It's a work in progress, but worth it.

Kristie and Mama, I hope your gardens do well.

Sonya, I hope your side effects will be really mild. After my daughter received her second shot, she ran a fever off and on for a few weeks, was very fatigued, and foggy in the head. All the best.

message 583: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments Oh no, Groovy. The cicadas sound terrible. I feel like we're going to waste a lot of our good weather season dealing with them this year.

Your gardening sounds very nice (even if the reason for it isn't). It will be so pretty with the hummingbirds and butterflies.

Kristie | 5928 comments Sonya wrote: "I’m getting my second COVID vaccine tomorrow and I’m nervous for the side effects."

I hope you have no side effects, Sonya. I had no issues after my second shot. I've heard people recommending taking Tylenol, drinking plenty of water, and getting rest following your dose to help prevent side effects. Let us know how it gos.

Kristie | 5928 comments My mom is coming for a visit tomorrow. It will be nice to have her around for Mother's Day. I was trying to plan some things we can do together, but between restrictions and her knees (she needs to have her knees replaced) I didn't have too many ideas. I think we will be spending a lot of time at home just hanging out with each other.

Fortunately mom loves gardening, so she may want to help me repot my seedlings over the weekend. They have already grown quite a bit and need more room as well as larger containers that can hold more water.

That sounds like a nice way to spend the day with your Mom. My Mom passed away about a year and a half ago. I miss her very much. I hope all that are blessed to have their Mother in their lives enjoy spending time together on Mother's Day.

My mom just had knee replacement surgery two days ago. She also loves to garden but with her knee problems, she hasn't been able to plant like usual. I hope this surgery helps her.

Kristie | 5928 comments Happy Mother's Day, moms!! I hope you all have a wonderful day.

We are going out for brunch at an amazing crepe place to celebrate. I haven't been to this restaurant for a year and a half due to covid and everything on their menu is off my new diet, so it will be a splurge for me. I'm really looking forward to it. :)

My mother is very proud of her bionic knees.
She recovered well from the surgery but the physio is brutal, they had her walking up and down stairs within a week!!
She thought she was going to rest up in an armchair and read.
