i hope everyone is having a great weekend... i must say ive struggled alot all week within myself .... so i have always since being a kid lost myself in books to get out of reality for a while... i just finished a book called The Midnight Library and i must say its definately a great read. and tonight i have started The Gifts of Imperfection... has anyone else read these?

I have a friend who said she picked up a Ted Bundy documentary to get away from the real world recently. Pretty sad when the world is so stressful that Ted Bundy is an escape.

I'm finding that when there is a lot going on in real life I have a harder time focusing on reading. I end up in a bit of a slump.

i totally agree with you ...last year i was through a pretty hard time. got my hands on some comedy books and self help books.always good to lift the spirit when feeling down . at the time i was going through a rough spot in my relationship and my cousin lent me After... i had to put it down because i couldnt stop crying it was hitting too close to my heart.... once i got better and things were ok i ended up reading the whole collection of it lol

I have a question. Has anyone read a Stephen king book that they were disappointed in or didn't catch their interest? Does anyone have any good recommendations for books to read? I am looking for something new and interesting to read.

To me, Stephen King was such a brilliant writer back in the day. And then it seemed that his works beyond his classics were like crazy writing and didn't make sense. I love his classics...

Groovy, I completely agree with you! I can read and reread his classics and never grow tired of them. I just finished one of his more recent novels, and although I loved the story line, I just felt the character development on a whole was a little lacking. Which I found surprising! My favorite is still the Exorcist. I love to pick this one up when I want a fast and creepy read.

HAPPY FEBRUARY, Everyone!

Christine, I'm excited about Spring, too. And Summer!! I'm so eager to get into my garden; to sit out late at night and enjoy the silence, the night sky, and the Space Station. The Olympics is coming--yes! And Tennis is back. Are you going to be able to have your grandson with you?

Ananta, you have such a beautiful view. I love fogs. We get them sometimes. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, I forgot about the Olympics this summer. Yes!!

I expect my grandson will be coming down after school lets out towards the end of June. He usually stays until at least the middle of August. I'm hoping we can do a lot more this summer than we did last year.

I'm really hoping to be able to visit with everyone when we pick him up in June. We haven't been able to do that for so long. I think it was Christmas 2019 the last time I saw my friends and family in New England.

Kristie, please forgive me for calling you Christine. I'm so sorry you can't spend personal time with your family and just hug them close, and you can only communicate through Zoom. At least you get to be with your grandson. I know you can't wait:)

No worries, Groovy! Yes, I do miss having them close by, but we enjoy as much time together as possible and talk/text most days. We really do enjoy having our grandson fo the summers. I'm not sure how much longer he'll want to do that, but so far he still looks forward to coming down for his summer visit.

I remember the best years of my life were the summers I spent with my grandmother. Even when I entered my teenaged years, I loved spending time with her. I'm sure your grandson will always feel the same. Of course, he may want to spend some time with his new friends (post Covid), but I'm sure he'll always treasure his summers with you.

Yes it is! Do you watch football, Christine? I do. I am a Patriots fan because I grew up in New England. (So many haters!!) This is a weird Super Bowl for me. The Chiefs are in my conference (AFC), but obviously some of the Patriots key players have moved to the Buccs, so I'm not really sure which team to cheer for! Either way, it should be a good game. I think the teams are pretty evenly matched.

I'm not a football fan, but am glad that the Superbowl has helped so many forget about the virus and concentrate on just having fun.

I wasn't really sure which team to cheer for. It was so strange seeing past Patriots players on a different team. I do think the better team won. Kansas City did not have their best game and lots of fouls. Tampa Bay deserved the win and I was happy for our old teammates.

Oh my gosh... We got a new puppy yesterday and I think I slept about 1/2 hour last night. I'm drained! But, she is so cute and sweet. This puppy phase though...

Mikaela, if you go to the group page on a web browser it's easier to navigate than the app. Go to the group page then on the right go to 'Discussions.' There are the last couple of months' BOTM with the current threads...further down on the page, just keep scrolling down, there is ARCHIVE- BOTM and you can see previous titles and discussions there. If you just want to see the books, you can go to the link on the right 'Bookshelf' and the previous BOTM are in order (at least they show that way for me) from current then going backwards.

I love to read about immunology and our body's defence mechanism against various pathogens, in a broad sense - about microbiology. (I'm a med student) I have read far more than what is in my syllabus. I find it particularly interesting and amazing.But I have read various journals and scientific papers not a proper book(except my textbook lol)

I don't know how quirky it is, but I used to work in mental health as a therapist for children in group homes and their families, so I read a lot of psychology and self-help books. I also read memoirs of people who were abused as children or went through the foster care system, overcame their histories, things like that. They can sometimes be difficult to read.

It was not a great Valentine's Day for us. We had an ice storm and our power was out for 33 hours. It was freezing in my house! I could see my breath by the time the power came on. We still have no internet or cable in the house. I can't wait for it to be fixed.

I like reading biographies. It's interesting to learn what people went through to get them where they are today.

Kristie, we had an ice storm and 5 inches of snow, which is unheard of here in Nashville. The city was shut down. But my daughter and I welcomed it. We stocked up on food, and she got to work from home. Of course, we were so afraid our heat would go out. I'm just sorry the people in Texas had to suffer from it. It's 2021 and this still happens. $9000 bills. Seriously? I just wonder if that crooked electric company is going to reimburse everyone for those burst pipes that flooded their houses?

Oh, and I hear you about the internet. When ours went out, we were lost. What in the world did we do before internet and cell phones? But cable I can do without since we have streaming:) I hope you have them back on now.

Thanks, Groovy. Our internet came on the next day. We had another ice storm after that, but it wasn't as bad and everything stayed on. Thank goodness! They said it was the 'storm of a generation' here and it happened twice in one week.

That is a lot for Nashville! You are unprepared for that amount of snow, so it's good everything shuts down and your daughter could work from home. I'm glad your power stayed on.

I agree, those poor people in Texas. There was an 11 year old boy that died from hypothermia and his family is suing the power company. I guess the company was supposed to prepare things for this type of situation and they didn't. How sad. I can't imagine losing a child like that.
