The Shocking Bride And The Solitary Rancher by Evelyn Boyett The Shocking Bride And The Solitary Rancher: A Clean Western Historical Romance Novel by Evelyn Boyett on Kindle. ARC
Irene's life has been in tail spin. After her father died and her step mother treated her horribly, a good friend marries her to take care of her. She cares for him, but doesn't really love him. Now Irene is a widow and pregnant with her deceased husbands child. She has no where else to turn except to answer an ad for a mail order bride. She goes back and forth whether to tell him of her pregnancy or not. Lincoln is a hard working man who just returned from the war and only wants to take over the family ranch. Lincoln wants a wife and family, but that isn't the only reason he has to move fast. His selfish, lazy Uncle Buford states the ranch is his. He says that in Lincoln's father's final will, it states Lincoln must marry and have an heir within 5 years, or the ranch goes over to Buford. This story was a good read with some twists and turns. Editing was atrocious and sentences were chopped up. Really need to be proofed better. Also thoughts and actions were so repetitive I found myself scanning over sections. It was a bit sappy at times. But, a clean historical romance with some suspense in it. Again I was very upset that again with Ms. Boyett, I was unable to retrieve the extended epilogue. This is the second book by her that this has happened to.

Rae and Kenan watched as their parents were tortured and murdered in the family cabin ten years ago. Now Kenan has a buyer for the cabin and needs his sister to go with him to finalize the deal. He decided to take his friends for a weekend get away for time at the beach. One brings a stranger with too. Their friends begin getting murdered one by one. Is the killer the stranger that tagged along? Each person starts second guessing the other, pointing fingers at one another. This book has all the horror and terror for a great Halloween read. I was terrorized, horrified and grossed out. But it was GREAT!! The ending was such a shock! I thought it was great. I would give it more than 5 star review if I could. This is what nightmares of made of.

Detective Brown was disgusted when he discovered the young adults brutally murdered months ago in Green Bank West Virginia. Now his daughter and 5 others are headed to Green Bank, West Virginia to investigate UFO's. They want to shoot video for their web series Aliens R Us. Supposedly, Green Bank is a town known for its telescope and satellite that purportedly receives signals from extraterrestrial beings. Alta Brown is the groups leader. Her best friend, Johanna, is the co-host. Boyfriend, Kendrick shoots the video and his brother, Eugene is in charge of the research. Two others, Declan, who is in charge of sound, and his girlfriend, Natalie, are there as well. They will be staying in group of cabins in a local summer camp area. They meet up with Grayson, who is taking care of the campground and cabins. People are being horrifically murdered. one by one. Why and by whom? This is a very disturbing, face paced thriller. A very engrossing story and the ending was, WHAT?? The story contains adult content, language and violence. It may be offensive to some. It was great but I think I liked the first one, "One By One" better. 5 star review

Unexpected Love In The Heart Of Texas by Evelyn Boyett Unexpected Love In The Heart Of Texas by Evelyn Boyett on Kindle. ARC
Wyatt returns to Georgia after fighting in the war to find his family gone and plantation ruined. He decides to sell everything and go off to find a new life. He buys a ranch in Texas and learns the ropes from the foreman that stayed on. He has asked about his fiancé Sophia. Sophia and her assistant Cassie were sent to England when the war broke out to keep them safe. Sophia is a spoiled rotten rich kid who has had every luxury extolled on her. Her assistant Cassie is saving her money to finally get away from Sophia and have a life on her own. So after they return and go to Texas to be with Wyatt, Sophia breaks off the engagement, as she would never live a life like that as a ranchers wife. Cassie decides this is the time for her to break free. She stays in the small town and looks for a job. The nasty banker has his eyes on Cassie. He gives her the creeps and will stop at nothing to control her and have her to himself. But Cassie has her own dreams and her eyes on Wyatt. This is a very good story with many twists and turns. Romance. suspense and freedom. Again! I was not able to download the Extended Epilogue and have received no help from the author. So I won't be reading any more of her works. If you want me to review your work, then make sure I get it all. So only one star review from me.

Unlawful Things by Anna Sayburn Lane Unlawful Things by Anna Sayburn Lane in PDF form
This is a mystery and suspense book. Helen is a mystery tour guide in London and is trying to unravel a 500 mystery involving a manuscript from Christopher Marlowe. It brings her more than she bargains for. There are people being murdered, followed and threatened. A full cast of characters and SO MUCH history. I never liked history and I am certainly not up with English history or theater history. For me this was a very drawn out and confusing story. It took me so very long to finish it and I am still confused. The writing was excellent and certainly the history, but like I said, I am not into history. It certainly had a lot of mystery and suspense. It was also very graphic and there is parts of where a person is tortured. 3 stars

So when the store manager tells her to make a wish over the village, she is transported to a magical place. Ron met this amazing woman on the bus and when she left her wallet behind, he had this need to find her. He watches her go into the antique store, but when he arrives, he seems to have missed her. I just read Christmas in Silver Springs without realizing it was part of a series. I read your review, Jonetta, of A California Christmas, and then glanced at the descriptions for some of the other books in the series. Are there any recurring characters or is each book entirely separate from the others?

message 441: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7114 comments Mod
It’s complicated, Margaret. The first book sets the stage for the setting and the one central character. I wouldn’t start the series without reading that one. Then the next few books stood alone extremely well. But the last three, including this one, are strongly connected, especially the two before this one.

I know that’s a rather lengthy response but I’ve seen reviews of the prior book complaining that it didn’t stand alone. I’m rather manic about reading in order so it’s a tough thing for me to tell you that numbers 2-4 can be read like stand alones😏

Thank you, Jonetta. I think I picked up Christmas in Silver Springs last year at Target since I collect Christmas books (really, all Christmas-related things!) like a maniac. I, too, always want to read in order so was surprised when I found out it's part of a series. Thank you for your input!
